Released in 1993, Ticks was one of those movies you invariably rented at your local video store or caught on late night cable. With an all star cast (or something...) including Seth Green, Alfonso Ribeiro, Ami Dolenz, Clint Howard, and Peter Scolari and some really gooey practical effects, this one really earns its cult reputation. It may not be director Tony Randel's best known film, but it's really good.
But can Ticks suck enough blood to fill five barf bags? Let's get to the gore and find out!

Hey Mike, your puns in this critique( and many others), are both pretty funny and witty. Seth Green does a pretty good job in this and I know I've seen Amy Dolenz in something else but not sure what, any ideas folks? I remember Clint Howard better from Evilspeak, but then that movie as a whole is hard to forget anyway. Just for the record Mike, Seth G was in this a few years before playing a werewolf in Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series. No offense bud, I dunno if you knew. Caio for now folks!

Hey, actual entomologist here, don't light ticks on fire when attached. Use some forceps or tweezers, grab as close to the head (basis capituli) as possible and *slowly* pull until the tick is completely removed. They anchor themselves into the skin with recurved teeth and glue-like salivary components. They can't just "let go" since most ticks need to feed for several days and up to a week or more.

I had completely forgotten about this movie! But seeing this, it brought me back - we watched it back when it first came to home video, back when VHS rentals were a thing. Remembering VHS rentals gets an honorary Christ I'm old ticked off the list.

Really wishing I would have picked up a copy of this when all the Movie Gallery rental locations in my state went out of business. I had it in my hand(along with about 10 other titles) but decided to skip it and picked up a copy of "Die You Zombie Bastards!" instead. Bad choice... decisions are hard=-/ They made more money off me buying their liquidated stock than they ever did from me actually renting the movies! *I'll see your "remembering VHS rentals" comment, and raise you a 'remember renting NES games at the local grocery store back in the day' The early-mid 90's were awesome... Christ we're _old_ !!

I love animals attack movies and it's usually extra fun when filmmakers go with tiny creatures scary in a creepier way than a lot of larger threats. I avoid normal ticks at all costs. I even bribe the opossum that lives under our deck to keep their populations down. The ticks in this are quite menacing and just large and skittery enough to really get under the skin. And is there ever a performance he gives where Clint Howard doesn't pack ten pounds of solid acting into a five-pound bag? So grateful to see Sick Flicks goes on another week despite YT's best efforts to drive you to madness!

I could be wrong, but this might be your best one yet. Humpty Dance. Wilson Phillips. Baffled still as to how I knew about Slugs when it was originally released, but somehow missed this gem.

Thank you so much! The Patreon support really helps. Like as I'm thinking about the future of the show, a lot of it involves Patreon. If I could get the show to a level where viewer support outpaced the ad revenue, life would be easier because YT would have way less impact on the videos. Like if I could even something like 2,000 of my 54,000 subs to join the Patreon and support the show, it would change everything. I just REALLY hate asking for people to join the patreon because I know times are tough. But in some ways, it's one of the few ways to circumnavigate YT's meddling and free me up to make videos without constantly worrying about getting claimed or age gated or demonetized.

I used to love this movie so much it came on tv all the time in the 90s? They would play it with slugs or frogs a lot. So much fun!

Man I watched this when I was a kid, and that one scene where Alfonso character falls out and skittering across the floor before he split in half from the tick, after that I couldn't handle any sort of bug on me, and then when I actually did have a tick on my head, I was an absolute mess when my parents were trying to get it off lol. Its so silly now, and even though it traumatized my childhood, it's one of my favorite, goofy horror films

Ooooh, Ticks. Maybe I'm mixing it up with something else, but I want to say there's a scene where a tick explodes out of some guy's back. Speaking of cheesy 90s creature features, there's this movie with mutant lizards called Aberration that seems like a good fit for this channel, but I don't know what kind of body count it has. Lastly, you have to cover Carnosaur at some point, if you haven't already. I mean, you don't *have* to have to, but you get my point.

As a kid, we'd play in the woods...and then sometimes a few days later you'd have a headache and sure enough one these little jerks was sucking blood out of your head...still creeps me out. Then you add in the stories....like "don't rip its head off pulling it out! It'll get in your blood stream and give you embolism!!!!" they were3 a constant source of stress for me as a child. :p

I'll admit, I spent most of the video eagerly awaiting a reference to one of my favorite super heroes. You did not disappoint. SPOON! This is another one I just never got around to watching. But good lord does it ever scream nineties with every ounce of strength it can muster. Might be worth checking out just for the nostalgia. Enjoyed all the tick puns, man. Well done.

I even got the original Ticks that was released on DVD by olive films. When I heard the vinegar syndrome was releasing it on Blu ray. I HAD to have it. This is one of the best natural horror movies ever! Love ya channel! Hopefully KZfaq will lay off you!

I started a new job a little over a month ago with long hours, at my choice to keep busy and the time and mind occupied. The highlight of my weekends are winding down and watching your videos, which give me hysterical fits of laughter.
