Cade Reimer man you fr don’t respect music, Jazz is probably one of the most hardest genres of music to learn because you have to be so precise and know basically every scale and everything to do with theory, saying that jazz is trash basically says ur too lazy understand proper musicianship. I love jazz band cause everyone else acts serious and shit while the rhythm section just messes around. I play electric bass guitar so I like to occasionally slip random shit into the background and the director never really noticed.

I got in a pissing contest with my college stage band prof over the drum solo in Make Me Smile by Chicago. Then the guitarist- for whom I had great admiration- told me that I'm really good but that I had a big head. Slowed my groove for sure. Now when I see young players killin' it, I smile and cheer my ass off.

i have a problem with that part every time I see it because like, what beat are you *supposed* to slap on? i can’t know if you’re rushing or dragging on one note without any context i’m also not a professional musician though so maybe they just know

@@mattwebi if you’re a drummer you’re in basically in charge of controlling the time everyone is playing on. So in the context of a multi-instrument orchestra, if you’re off tempo it should be relatively easy to tell with training. everyone else will struggle because of the lack of structure and rhythm.
