I had a dream where the story would happen, then I woke up. But I didn't wake up I just thought I had, and then had a lucid dream. This happened 4 or 5 times within the same dream so that when I finally did wake up for real, I didn't believe it and had to do things like read a news paper and check the clock often until I was convinced it was real. Was the freakiest experience I've had while sleeping where you doubt the real world when you wake up

I think your mental health plays a huge part in sleep and overall well being. I used to sleep 6 hours and didn't feel tired but now that I'm depressed I've been sleeping a lot more usually 9 or 10 hours and I still don't have the energy that I did. Once the mind goes, the body follows

There is nothing that states sleeping 6 hours makes you live longer, aside from sources misquoting studies. The studies referenced simply show that that people who slept around 6 hours per day tended to live longer. Much of the confusion comes from the fact that little other information is presented with regard to these people's lifestyles. I would imagine at the ends of the spectrum people who sleep 4 hours or less, or more than 8 probably live less balanced lives than those sleeping for around 6, and make choices that result in a shorter lifespan due to various ailments acquired over the course of their lives.

I've had pretty severe insomnia since I was a toddler. I thought everyone laid awake most of the night like me, I didn't know until I was 13 that it was abnormal. It took years to get treated for it, doctors always told me the same thing: "Drink warm milk", "take Benadryl if you can't sleep sometimes", "take melatonin", etc. None of those things ever really worked for me. I finally got medicated at 17 years old and found out what it's like to be fully rested for the first time in my life.

This is so great to see a scientific opinion on lucid dreaming! I lucidly dream. It came to me 4 years ago. It is indeed true that it takes practice and one gets better at it with practice. At now I usually just know offf the bat if I’m dreaming or not. If I’m unsure for a bit (so a really realistic, thick, quality dream) all I have to do is become aware of the question, ” am I dreaming?” That always snaps me INTO it if I am.

I suffered from a massive insomnia for the first forty years of my life. I would average between 0 & 4 hours of sleep per night. Also, I and my three daughters all sleep with our eyes open. I didn't start sleeping semi normally until about 10 months after my 41st birthday, that's when I was struck by a Ford F-150 going 45 miles an hour , I was a pedestrian. So, when I say I was struck, I mean I was struck, not the vehicle I was in, (didn't break one bone!). Now I don't sleep normally, but I can actually sleep for long periods of time. Albeit, I get up often for the first 6 to 8 hours but if left to my own devices I can continue to sleep for another eight or more hours and wake up feeling refreshed. And if any of you are wondering that I get any money from my accident, the answer is no, Thanks Dan!!!

I'm a chronic insomniac. I literally wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep, then sleep after 30 minutes or an hour. Most times I get 3-4 hours of sleep, in total. 😅 The Infographics Show helps me tire my brain (not literally🤔). How? I leave their hour long episodes playing, without watching it. For some reason, if the soothing sounds on sleep apps goes to a point their annoying 😫(which I can't understand why), listening to more information whether it be a video or an audiobook helps me a bit, to get back to sleep. Having a clock near you is definitely a no no. Imho, seeking help from friends and family who truly understand your situation is the best support you can get. Just sharing. Hope it also helps. And thank you The Infographics Show! I love your content! Looking forward to more of your videos! ☺️😇

Whenever I have a dream where myself and/or others are being chased, I end up doing parkour & climbing up to the highest point. At some point, I think to myself "I've done this before in another dream". For some reason, it's ALWAYS in a sort of grocery store. The latest time this happened was when me and some guys were being chased by a sort of demon that would chase us until it touched one of us. If we got touched, we were considered dead and everyone else was safe until the next hunt. At one point, I was climbing shelves and that was when I had that feeling of deja Vu before remembering all the other dreams similar to the current one but the memories would never play out. It's like remembering a code to something and when you need the code, it quickly flashes in your mind. Idk, it's just weird how it ALWAYS happens whenever I have a dream about running & hiding.

I always watch the Infographics Show at night to help me doze off. Our narrator’s voice just is so soothing lol. So it’s ironic that I woke up mid-sleep and saw this video playing. Thanks for trying to change my sleeping habits to something more effective, but I think I’ll stick to sleeping with earbuds in and the Infographics Show playing videos on repeat.

My method for telling if I am asleep or not is to jump straight up. If I can stay there, I know I'm sleeping. It worked even when I was positive I was NOT asleep. A friend in a dream told me I was dreaming and I refused to believe it. Finally I did the dream test and was amazed to find I was, indeed, asleep and dreaming. So I folded my legs under me and floated off to do stuff.

Hahahaa yes!! That's amazing that you were positive that you weren't asleep.. (but were) My trick you should try is to count your finger.. hold your hands out in front of you... There should be six or seven on at least one hand.. (maybe 4) then you can float off and go do stuff

Anyone wanting to learn about lucid dreaming, when I was a kid I would find telltale signs I was dreaming. Flying, falling if a cliff, getting arrested, etc.. Then I would imagine a VCR and kind of rewind it to see if it would go better. If not, I would partially wake up and turn my head left or right depending on how it already was. And it would start a new dream. And the process status over. If I didn't like the new dream I would turn back the way I was and kind of be back in the previous. I also sleep with my eyes open as everybody feels the need to tell me like it's going to freak me out, always have, if that adds anything. I was just recently told that what I was doing was lucid dreaming this year. I'm 28 now. And I can say that when I started smoking 420 and drinking around 15, it has become extremely hard for me to do it, even remembering the dream is difficult now. Wish I wouldve known what I was doing back then so I couldn't pushed the limits on what could be done in a dream. Sounds unbelievable, but I never really thought anything of it back then. I just figured that's how dreams work, since I know what's going on in reality it wasn't difficult to tell when I was dreaming. But that's just my sorry, take from it what you will.

The sleep deprivation one is literally me middle of the school year. I was a sophomore I'm going to die next year as a junior. I would go to school, go to after school events which could end anytime between 5 and 10 and then do homework until 2-6am. I legitimately got 4 hours of sleep max 1-hour minimum every night and felt like I was sick and like I was going to die. I did have random hallucinations, microsleeps, and I just wanted to sleep.

I've been reading The Psychoanalysis of Dreams by Angel Garma and its somethin like that 48:48 I have dreams of places, situations, or gathers of the people I interact with. Whenever i have a dream with my girlfriend i tell her, and she laughs and wants to know many details. After my momz passed I dreamt of her quite a lot, in one of the last dreams she told me "its ok..." and hugged me. I woke up in the process of crying. Dreams are a TRIP.
