What about the octopus? They can fit inside any container that fits their beak, latch onto any surface, can camouflage completely, can problem solve, manipulate objects, and can cooperate with other species to hunt prey.

I am digging the art on this episode, especially the thumbnail. Also, I'd like to suggest looking into chicken intelligence as some suggest they may be the, "smartest animal of the barnyard". They can do basic arithmetic (scientists hatched chicks into piles of beads, then separated the chick from the beads where it could see the beads being hidden, and reliably chose the blind with more beads behind it), they can be easily trained with an eagerness to please derived from their domestication, and a single crow can communicate such things as, "I have/haven't found food/water", "I haven't seen a specific flock member", or simply, "Where is everyone?" Chickens show object permanence, and the ability to actively experiment with their world to learn about it. They've been recorded as one of few species passing down culture (researchers gave blue dyed corn to hens with a mild poison, and when those hens had chicks, they discouraged their chicks from eating the blue corn despite no poison being present, anymore; These chicks also taught their chicks similarly), and each flock has its own dialect, giving chickens regional accents. These accents are also indicative that though nowhere near as effective as parrots or corvids at talking, they DO mimic what's around them to an extent- mimicking each other is how flock accents are formed.

My guy is border collie/ corgi mix. He always amazes me with how smart he is. I remember one time in the winter he had figured out how to open our side door and he decided to take himself for a walk around the block. We could see his little peet prints in the snow, he was so proud of himself when he came back like "Look , you didn't even have to take me I did this by myself!" My fear is never him getting lost, its someone taking him.. I hadn't even noticed he had gone until he came back ... too sneaky. He often gives himself anxiety when he can see that we are getting ready to leave and he isn't sure if we are taking him with us. Weve tried to be discrete about getting ready to leave but its so hard, he watches your every move hahaha. He also really helped us when we were training our mastiff/lab puppy. ...I mean he basically showed him how to do everything. It was so easy for us hahaha Dogs are the best

Orangutans in a specific part of the Amazon have learned how to make their own tools to get insects out of trees. They learn this skill ~15 years into their lives, if they make it. Super cool creatures. I wanna hug them.

My dog is the worst kind of smart. She's smart enough to figure out how to do a bunch of things, but too dumb to think about the consequences of what she's going to do.

My favorite animal is the pigeon, I'm dead serious... I actually rescue, raise, and train them! they are very smart animals and quite compassionate to their humans!! I love my pigeon friends. Y'all should show them more respect, and maybe even befriend one! You won't regret it! You'll have a loyal compassionate friend for life!

Many index’s like gyrification show that orcas are smarter then even humans, as-well as having complex social interactions that are still not even fully understood. War, evolving cultures and more.

Should've put in a spot for octopi. They have an incredibly high IQ(about 70-80) and use rocks to break open clams or hide in coconut shells, holding them together with their suckers. Sometimes, they hypnotize other animals by rapidly changing color, and they can change their texture with their color for unmatched camouflage. In one aquarium(I think it was in Washington State), the octopus left its container, slithered across the floor, and got into a container full of shellfish, where it had a buffet every night. In another aquarium in Germany, an octopus turned the lights off for the workers every night by firing a concentrated jet of water from its siphon. These remarkable blue-blooded creatures have done many other things in tests that you can learn about without diving very deep into the web. Pun intended.

i agree with these because i used to have a pigeon when i was in Kenya, i used to whistle at them when feeding them so they adapted to it and when ever i whistled even if they couldnt see me, they used to look for until they found me. whats more crazy is if somelse did it they would even look at them even if they do the same whistling sound as me.

True story- a family red Kelpy dog my family had when I was 6 was taken a 15 hour drive to a farm in OUTBACK NSW Australia. 1 day later it escaped and 3 months later was found on our door step one Saturday morning ... half stavred ... filthy and weak physically... but very happy to be home with its human kids. 😍🤩

I grew up in Silverton Oregon with the story of Bobby the wonder dog. We have BEAUTIFUL murals and a little statue with a dog house. It was one of my favorite stories growing up.

13:46 - Feel like you have forgotten some other aspects of cats. So I will state them in this comment, only to be forgotten unless a lot of people like the comment. 1.) Languages - Cat's uses about every aspect of their body for communication. Such as to show when they are happy or when they see prey they cannot reach. 2.) Reminders - Cat's have this ability to remind people of things. I heard a story from a class mate where their cat wakes them up for school, something familiar to that. Don't know the full story but it was something familiar. But my cat also wakes me up, but only when he needs fed, he usually nibbles on me to wake me up. 3.) strategizing - Wonder how your cat managed to get on a tall surface without any steps, for me, it is somehow on top of the door. They can easily and quickly find out how to get to the tallest surface through platforms or how rough a surface is for them to easily climb. Such as a tree. Usually cats climbs up the tallest surface to show dominance. 4.) Emotions - I like to mention this one since most people thinks cats are emotionless animals. They truly aren't. I lost a dear cat quite recently and my other cat who nibbles me for food was very close with the cat. My cat was very saddened. I couldn't leave him alone as when I did, he started to meow which he never did. He started to want to be very close to me and the cat would barely eat. Although I think that may be because the cat thinks the food killed the cat as the cat died from constipation.

I saw this Reddit post about how a little boy kept getting bullied by the neighbor kid on his walk to and from school, so he and his mom trained the crows to protect him on his route over the summer while the neighbors were away on vacation. It worked and they protected the boy when the bully tried to start something…then they started attacking the bully any time he left his house…then they started attacking his parents too 😂 they had to move away

When we were kids we used to take the ants make them lock their pinchers together and watch them fight to the death. I always thought the red ant was stronger than the black ants. I was wrong about that cause we (brother& neighbor) fought the same black ant against 7 red ants, it killed them all, and after the last fight we let it go… lolz probably went back to its colony and had told its friends that it’s the undisputed ant champ. 😂

I teared up when you started talking about pigs. I had the opportunity to spend some time with a couple of pigs. Mini pigs actually. My Uncle has some mini pigs as pets. They are some amazing creatures. Very friendly.

I left some bait out on a couple of snap traps and the mice were able to eat the bait without triggering the traps. Sticky traps were more effective, maybe because they don't look as obviously dangerous as a snap trap.

I’ve seen Steller’s Jays watch the squirrels to see where they are stashing nuts so they can steal them. They also will weigh each peanut when there are a few to choose from and pick each one up very deliberately and set it down until they find the heaviest one.

I remember a time before our dog Athena (R.I.P) was mature enough to be able to be walked without her leash without running off and having to be chased back in. To get her back inside minus the chase I once got in my car and called her over pretending I was about to take her for a ride. Well she did come to me and I was easily able to scoop her right up and take her back inside (small dog). Well anyway a few weeks later she got out and I tried to do the same thing again, she looked at me, did that little thing dogs do where they kinda stutter step as if to be saying "Sike! Gotcha🐶" while standing in place. I could see the "fool me once shame on me fool me twice you know the rest" all over her face. Needless to say it turned out to be a long exhausting day of chasing Thena until SHE decided she was done and ready to head back inside. I stepped in behind her feeling defeated lol.. My favorite story of chimps is when a group of chimps in an enclosure seemed to be escaping and hanging out in the tree next to the enclosure during the night. The keepers put up cameras and discovered that one of the chimps had gotten fold of a piece of metal from the zoo and fashioned a makeshift key and was hiding it under his tongue during the day so the keepers would not find it.
