I did not expect a reaction to this one! It's such an important topic and I know it's touched more than a few people already. Kathy is such a wonderful and kind person. She's a major part of what makes VoicePlay run smoothly, as she helps organize collaborators, locations, editing BTS for patrons, merch and keeping an eye on what songs are highly requested by fans - And of course, she keeps the boys in check when they need it!

Geoff has an incredible sense of humor! Thanks for doing a reaction to this so more people see their message. They are ultimate couple goals!

Kathy is now the production manager of Voiceplay, so she is still part of the music industry even though she can’t sing it, she can still perform

My addendum to this wonderful, important video: My hearing (frequency loss) deteriorated and for ten years there was nothing anyone could do to help me. I couldn't work. Technology (mini computer chips) finally caught up to me, and while I know I'll never be at 100%, I'm so very, very glad to have music back. My hearing aids connect via Bluetooth with my cell phone and my computer. It makes an enormous difference in the quality of my life. Anyone who is afraid people will think they "look old" or doesn't want anyone to know they have a disability is being foolish--and believe me people already know. Like Kathy said, no one knows you're wearing hearing aids if you don't tell them. There are some types of hearing aids that fit entirely inside the ear canal. But you will look stupid and try people's patience if you are trying to pretend that everything is just fine while you complain about people muttering, not speaking up, or constantly mishear or don't hear what's being said to you. Hearing loss is linked to dementia as well if it is not treated. Whatever it takes to get the technology--do it! You are worth it.

This was a very enlightening reaction. I didn't realize that covid presented additional barriers to those with hearing loss because of mask wearing. This reminds me of when I was 8 years old and got glasses. I said Oh, look the trees have leaves and that my dad had on a new shirt. I had never seen leaves because it always looked like a green mass and I couldn't see the pattern in my dad's shirt. The PTA ladies discovered upon doing vision tests that I couldn't see the eye chart! Turns out I have keratoconus which is an uneven surface on the cornea. If anyone has very high astigmatism they should be tested for keratoconus. Shoutout to Geoff and Kathy for sharing this. We don't know how other people hear us.

You can usually date the age of a video by the length of Geoff 's hair.😅

This really is such an important conversation. I only have 40% hearing in one of my ears.. I’m so used to it that I don’t notice it anymore, but then people will whisper around me and I just end up staring at them and asking to repeat

You should check out the channel of Huldra Draco, who is a patron of Geoff and Voiceplay, and who has many vids about the band members, behind the scenes and events (like wedding of J.None) and photo vids. Also the song with the families is Daddy Sang Bass with the daughters of Layne and Cynd, and William, son of Geoff and Kathy. Thanks again for this extraordinary reaction.

You watching this video causes me to hold you in high regard due to being open and caring enough to listen to their story. They make quite a team...as a family and for Voiceplay.😊

Geoff and Kathy are two of the most amazing people I've ever met (only virtually, whimper!). I love them both as if they were my own kids (actually, they could be my kids).

I have a 5% permanent hearing loss. I actually were completely deaf when I was 11 months old. I got my hearing restored to 95% from the ages of 2 to 6 years old. I tend to talk louder, usually without realizing it. I have the captions on too. Where I live in Virginia (which is where Geoff was born) we have a school called VSDB, Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, and they do a lot of work and a lot of programs.

Daddy Sang Bass is the one you are looking for. Small wonder that he adores her. Thank you for doing this! I had seen it before but I "heard" more this time around.

I watched this when I started down the Geoff/VP rabbit hole in January. ❤ My dad has an implant and I have some minor hearing loss.

The funniest part is that my own hearing loss is apparently what Kathy can hear - because during that part where he's showing us what she hears, I hear absolutely nothing. XD

Ever since I don't out about her hearing loss, all I could think was how mad I would be if Geoff was my husband and I was losing my hearing. I mean even if he was just my friend I'd be very upset.
