He projects a facade of always being in control. He is well known and respected in the community. He knew exactly what he was doing and wasn’t apologetic for being a dick to me. Pile 3, I usually never comment, but I felt like it this time! We had history, we were friends with benefits for a while, and we work together. So you're on point when you said that he doesn't give attention because of the surroundings. For a long long time, after we broke apart, we would argue at work for silly things and we were like cat and dog. But since a couple of months ago, I felt the energy shifting, and now we can be two civilized people talking, making jokes and so on. I have always liked him but never said anything and he never showed any interest in me romantically. Slowly over time our lives drifted in different directions. It's now a few decades later and we are both married to other people with whom we have children. Last time I saw him was over a decade ago at his wedding when I was pregnant with my daughter. The new situation is that one of his parents has passed away and we will both be at the funeral.
