“They play basketball” Paul Pierce said this after going to game two. He went on to elaborate that they play every facet of the game, all the time, every single play when they are on the court. Some shooters or superstars can be seen taking off a play here or there, not going for rebounds, etc. But Pierce said he was blown away by how White and Holiday are active all the time, in every play. It’s an awesome thing to watch as a Celtics fan. Watching them all year has been a joy.

Like no sees his career defense. He's 6 time all NBA defensive team. He practically makes all defensive team every year. Besides defense he can score also. This guy gives you everything. He's the complete package. You can build the perfect team around this guy and win so many championships. Boston will win another ring as long as Holiday is there.

This is probably the main reason I think Dallas is a really good match-up for us. Teams with talented bigs can give us trouble, but when everything is generated by the backcourt we can shut it down pretty effectively. Dallas is going to need to get creative.

@@dphilosopher06 It's a tall ask, even for Irving. Brown, Jrue, DWhite can all hang with him, are bigger, longer, and stronger. And the only dude he has any size on is Pritchard, it's about one inch, and Pritchard can make Kyrie work for it in space. The Celtics are the team best suited to take on Dallas' back court, which has been a massive advantage for the Mavs in their other series. I think Luka's incredible offensive potential, and the fact that I dont think we'll see a third no-show from Kyrie, probably means the Mavs still get a slight nod in the backcourt value discussion, but it's close. And it's not close for the Mavs anywhere else.

Feel like the current Celtics are doing what the Warriors did in their championship years. Lot of cutting switching and players that play their role to the best. They play with pace and great defense and make everything difficult to accomplish. I’m still hoping the Mavs can come back and win it all tho.

I mean you had Smart and White just last year. I know everyone wants to bash Smart these days but he does everything Jrue does but is a better post defender, he’s stronger, better weak side rim protector, has better threat detection and is a better off ball defender Jrue is better at screen navigation at this point because Marcus prefers going under now - although he might be the best I’ve seen at going under without giving up an advantage - and I’d give Jrue an edge in on ball defense because he’s quicker laterally, but I’d give Smart the edge as the better overall defender.

Yea im kind of confused of all the smart hate. lol Jrue has the luxury of not being the 3rd or second option anymore. If Smart had this same team, he would be playing just as well. Jrue before coming to the Celtics was not a good playoff performer on the bucks. Jrue fits better for the Celtics rn because he is the better perimeter player, but it terms of hustle, taking charges, and getting super physical im taking Marcus. Celtics don't even draw charges like how they used to since Smart left lol. As a Celtics fan, I do wish he was on the team to get this chip. His leadership and defense made the Jay's evolve.

Jrue can guard bigs for a few positions, Joe mazulla has never went to jrue to guard a big for more than a few possessions. Meanwhile Smart has. Jrue is top 3, but dort is #1 followed by smart. Jrue for sure is the best perimeter guard, but he for sure isn’t the better Post defending guard.

Not definitively so but the 3 of the top 5 candidates i can think of all include Jrue Hokiday: Jordan and Pippen - Bulls (was Pip a PG or Point Forward? Dont feel like looking it up) Jrue and Lonzo - Pels Jrue and Rondo - Pels Lonzo and Caruso - Bulls Jrue and Derrick White Idk about the guards in Orlando i think they are great too. I just dont know enough about them
