I think he's gonna red shirt but in the same way Chet did. Chet attended all the training sessions even if it meant just watching. As soon as he was able to practice shooting he was in the gym working on that. Pre injury Topic was very high in this class. His ceiling is starting PG on an NBA team so getting him 12th is a steal. He will give us versatility. He seems like everything Cason Wallace isn't and vice versa but in a good way because they are very very good at what the other cant do so having both guys on the bench gives you a lot of tactical options.

This is bad pick for Topic. His abilities overlapped with Shai's one, so this means limited minutes, playing off ball or a trade asset. Giddey was an oversized PG and after Shai's break through he end up traded to Bulls. So what does Topic really bring to OKC?

he’s going to have a very similar role to Giddey, but has potential to be a slight upgrade over him. giddey still got valuable playing time until the 2024 playoffs. topic will probably be getting around 20 minutes per game on a top 3 team in the nba.you take that with the 12th overall pick

something about his game just screams bust risk to me. He's not athletic enough to be a dominant scorer who can only really attack the basket. No in-between game, not a good shooter. Elite passer tho. A more athletic josh giddy I feel is what he will be, I know giddies name is in the dirt recently but that's not a bad player at all, but I think his ceiling is so much lower than other prospects in this draft. Castle and gillingham have all star upside. Reed Shepard has a very high floor. Topic is the more volatile prospect low Floor and lower ceiling, if he pans out great but not worth the risk imo. Seemingly injury prone aswell.

ACL tear makes it tough to say more athletic. But yeah not big enough to play down low in the NBA, and against faster defenders the blow-by is not going to work. Need other ways of creating space. Step back, floater, spin - needs more.

I think his finishing will be fine, he seems really smart and understands angles and has a layyy package. The only thing that concerns me is can he play that same way after an ACL tear? If he's healthy I think he can develop into a star as well. He develops a in between game and a 3 ball and it's over. The team he's coming from has a great track record with prospects and his coaches speak very highly of his mentality and maturity
