One thing I always loved about this battle scene was how it had a theme of companionship and teamwork. Rollo blocks an attack meant for Lagertha, Ragnar and Lagertha both stand over their son when he falls, Bjorn gives Lagertha a heads up on an approaching fighter, Floki rescues Torstein, and Rollo protects Ragnar from several enemies.

And jarl borg had none of that , no one at all except a loyal wife torvi who was with child . His was doomed to fail . He should’ve been patient and grew his small kingdom and raise his son ……. Instead he tried to conquer a foreign kingdom he can’t manage and knows less about its defenses

I've noticed that whenever Ragnar went into a full rage induced attitude his eyes started to glow. It's definitely not a trick of the camera, the show runners probably did that to reinforce the idea that Ragnar was descended from Odin.

These early battles - something about the 20vs20s, Jarl Borg vs Ragnar, Vikings vs English, Rollo vs Ragnar. So plain, simple, and sweet The later wars with armies against armies, and unqiue storytelling, and incredible graphics are another level however these are just as beautiful.

My favorite scene in the entire series. Rollo protects Lagertha, Ragnar runs to Bjorn, pushing through the others. Seeing Bjorn on the ground while Ragnar and Lagertha are side by side covering him brings tears to my eyes.

I think what made Vikings so enjoyable early on was that Ragnar had everything. He was fucking strong, smart and charisma was his biggest weapon. He fought like a god out there.

I love that fact that it shows how a swordman take on a spear, in this case two.. I always had trouble picture it.. That's when I saw it in Vikings.. Ragnar is quick af!

It's just so funny after his initial betrayal, Rollo doing everything including throwing the kitchen sink at the enemies to prove his loyalty to Ragnar but Ragnar's just in tunnel vision to get to Borg. And then out of nowhere Rollo just spears that same background guy who keeps dying lmao

Always love how all of them have a distinct fighting style. Floki with his more wild way of slashing, Lagertha with her slower but more calculated pace. Rollo with his is raw strength and overwhelming size, ragnar with his speed and agility, and bjorn being somewhere in between rollo and Ragnar

I think rolo really cared for ragnar, lagertha, bjorn. He always look after them, he saved lagertha from being stab so she can help bjorn that was falling, He saved ragnar twice and all hes saying is just "ragnarrrrr"

If I remember jarl borg was supposed to raid with ragnar and that king can't remember his name, but they didn't bother taking him when they sworn too. So borg wasn't in the wrong

@@ironlungslc9529 Great to see people understanding logic. What did Horik do when he thought Ragnar betrayed him? Tried to assassinate his entire line. What did Ragnar do when Horik betrayed him? Assassinated him and all his sons except for Erlendur. What did Borg do when Horik and Ragnar betrayed him (Ragnar went along with Horik at every turn), first when Horik refused any negotiation or peace in Season 1 which led to the battle near the cliffs, then Ragnar and Horik convinced Borg to stop fighting, take up arms and raid with them, then 4 years later on Horik's whim, they both exclude him from raiding? How was he in the wrong in their world when they both do exactly the same? Lagertha later did the same to Aslaug, waiting until the warriors had gone with Bjorn before attacking Kattegat, wounding those left behind and killing the Queen who she offered safe passage with? Only, Borg got blood eagled under false peace terms (yet another betrayal) while Lagertha got to be Queen.

I prefer the battle earlier when rollo defended kattegat from yarl born basically by himself. My favorite of the series it's hard to say but probably when they get spanked by king ecbert in wessex when rollo gets trampled by the horse. Of course both attacks on Paris the first time as well as the second time when rollo burns the ships and honorable mention not a battle but bjorn and rollo fighting outside the alehouse in the rain was great tbh I thought it was better done than Ragnar and rollos final show down but that was fckn epic as well
