Boating at Periyar Lake is almost a sure shot way of sighting wild animals from the Periyar Tiger Reserve. We were lucky this time to see many different species. Due to COVID, there wasn't too much rush either. Sufficient safety precautions are taken by the officials.

You should keep aside half a day at least to enjoy the Wildlife Sanctuary. Apart from boating, you can go for treks & rafting as well. Many activities are temporarily paused due to Covid. We took the 3:30 PM slot & we are guessing the time slot has something to do the number of animals coming out to the lake.
We were staying at the Greenwoods Resort in Thekkady which was hardly a kilometer from the pick up point for the boating experience. We will be covering that special stay at the resort in a separate video soon.
