Its sad! I remember 20 yrs ago hearing her say that when she first started out and was doing one of her first photo shoots, a make-up artist told her how unflattering she looked from one side and never to film that way. Then 2 other people on the shoot kept trying turn her around putting her "good side" to the camera, and saying outloud how "that side won't do". She said she was humiliated and cried for days. She said shes had a complex ever since. Which got worse over time. :(

I think it is very sweet of James for thanking Mariah. I think people forget that no matter how big Mariah is, she actually like to work with people before they went mainstream and big. In music for example, She collaborated with Nicki Minaj in one of her remix before Nicki transitioned to mainstream pop. She featured Jay-Z in her single before any other mainstream pop artists would collaborate with him and other rappers from the 90s. I think other than being a very talented artist herself, she really has a gift of recognizing other talent, be it in music or entertainment.

She used to be this way till 2014-2015. I don’t know what happened after these years, but the diva persona she created for fun in the late 90s/early 00s started to come over her real personality. Although, I noticed that during the interactions with her fans she did on the pandemic she started to be real and natural in the way she used to be uears ago, I think she’s coming back to her original personality.

Sometimes I feel bad for Mariah. You can tell even with all her success she is an anxious person because of all the pressure. And with all eyes on her and such scrutinizing outside critics no wonder she is so insecure about outside appearance. And she doesn't have to be.

If I'm not mistaken, at the beginning of the public internet, Mariah was the biggest music celebrity that embraced it. I remember hearing or reading somewhere that she had more web pages/sites dedicated to her than any other artist. She was IG way before that was even invented because she used to leave voice messages to fans on her website.
