Natural edges are the the best way to separate the lawn from mulch beds and look absolutely fantastic when done correctly! Here is how I do it using a cheap and simple tool!

I hated yard work when I was younger. My parents had to pay me to mow the lawn. I actually think my family took bets to see if I was going to do my own yard work or hire someone when I bought my 1st house. 😂 I actually like doing yard work & taking care of my flowers. It is relaxing, it took me 30 yrs. 😊 ✌💙🌻

Absolutely terrific video! I am a widow, and have been struggling with my yard for years. My husband used to take care of it, and I always did the flowerbeds, but he always took care of the edges. I still have not conquered the string trimmer, but I’m working on it, you’re a great communicator and I so appreciate this video. My yard has Hope and so do I.!!

I'm a lady homeowner and your tips are giving me the confidence to do my own landscaping. Todays landscapers want a $100 an hour. Even as a professional in the lab business, I never made that kind of money! So, since I need the exercise and no man around to do it for me, your tips will be put into good use!!

The hourly rate is for an employer who has workers on the books pay workers comp …. Super high insurance for vehicles…. Maintenance… overhead…. And is themselves trying to make an honest living….other option is a hack with a truck and mower
@scuba6797
@scuba6797 Жыл бұрын
Id go with the kid with a mower and weed wacker and pay him 40 bucks. Someone saying they have to over charge because they have other expenses is BS. If someone is rich and obsessed about their lawn feel free to pay $100 a week to get your lawn mowed. X4 a month 400 a month. 1 paycheck a week of yours would go to someone doing your lawn work. As an employer you could charge $40 bucks. $20 an hour for the worker and you take $20. But you have 20 guys working and they each give you 20 bucks per lawn just for having the business. Problem is the employer just wants to pull home 1 million at the end of the year in profits. Smarter to not go with big company who is claiming they are just trying to make a living. I know landscaper owners they make a ton. It's their workers who are just trying to make a living but they don't even get half of what the employer is charging for the lawn. So best go for the hack with a truck and a mower you pay for what you get and are not paying for the Maintenance, insurance, etc.... of the big company.

Yeah I’m sure as a lab tech you never worked like a slave… you ever finish a job and can’t work for three weeks because your body is failing from exhaustion because no one will show up for 30$ an hour and all while mowing like 40 clients a week. And it’s 100$ an hour plus gas lol. It is funny though because the only people that ever complain about price bought there house in like 97 and seem to forget that it is no longer 1997. Mulch jobs rn are really funny to bid because cost increased nearly double since before the pandemic. Truck doesn’t run on water and if I ever want to buy a house of my own I can’t make 20$ an hour owning my own business. I guess that’s the difference you don’t see is you didn’t own the lab you just worked there.

An added benefit, is that you can use the pulled out grass, that has grown within the bed itself, to fill in holes and gaps in your lawn, wherever required.

A tip i can share to make this job easier is to do after a rain fall, mow prior and edge the bed to find your lines and trim any bushes before laying down new mulch. Blow out the beds prior to laying new mulch and be prepared to mow with a bag after the job is done. Great video!

Great video and those are proper edges 👍 critical for keeping the mulch in and giving the string trimmer a guide to quickly maintain that sharp look like when you first cut them. In harder soil, it is definitely worth renting a bed edger to create the initial edge, then maintaining this way is a breeze every year. I give you props for being the first person I've seen ever use the half moon👍 never found anything better than my serrated garden spade especially with having so many properties heavily wooded here in the Northeast. And I keep it lightly filed to maintain sharpness during mulch season. Edging is an art. When you are good you can cut a brand new bed without even spraying a line or laying a hose. I love it!!! And then the look after the first time you lay mulch in that new bed is awesome! So much fun!

I've watched your 'CRISPY VIDEO ' Several times and had it perfectly set ! I have tools as you do . My mistake was asking for a little help explaining the technique a nd demonstrating the same . I left to do the next bed close by and did not discover the mishap until 3 days while " pulling all those weeds out of my newly fully planted up cottage garden I had started 2 yrs . ago . What a mess , pulling back new sod just to remove all the crawling weeds invading it . Pure sadness and physical pain was overwhelming . He declined helping due to back . I am with spinal fusion using a gait belt just to walk but , I stand , bend , dig , crawl , transplant ,mostly pray 🙏. Then I watch your video again . Thank you so much . ❤ I appreciate CRISPY . Even if I have to do it on my own I can't wait for morning to come . If pain overwhelms , I go to my garden of colors first and rest my mind there . Your videos bring that 🌈 thought of inspiration and intent . I find GOD 'S Peace in all my Gardens and this strengthens me . Thank you . I'll be watching

Edges are nice and deep! Coming in with the V-Cut from the bed towards the edge is exactly what I needed to know! I didn’t do that and the mulch is at the same level as the grass. Impossible to string trim without throwing mulch everywhere!
