6 months ago I would have completely agreed, however if you stick with them for a few months, fairly quickly you get used to the taste and after only a few months they start to taste almost as good as the full sugar stuff.

Because only farm animals can go their whole lives only drinking water, and they're butchered after like 16 months or so, which doesn't bode well to the "water gives longevity" bit. You need to also drink water, but drinking 2 cans of coke zero a day aren't going to destroy you any more than a sedentary lifestyle coupled with obesity

In general, the argument is usually that diet coke is worse than regular coke. Diet Coke is actually less acidic than regular coke, coke zero has a pH of 3.18, whereas regular coke is about 2.4ish, so yet again coke zero would be the healthier of the two to drink,. Diet coke is generally less acidic than a lot of fruit juices and sports drinks too. Not saying a pH of 3.18 is ideal, but compared to many other "comparable" drinks it's really not that bad.

Sugar free soda tastes bad. The sweet is the wrong sweet taste. It’s like sickeningly sweet with the worst aftertaste. Each sugar alternative tastes different too which makes finding decent sugar free sodas even more difficult

Saying Coke Zero tastes better than regular Coke is debatable. I'm sure that's true if that's all you drink and developed a taste for it but you could do the same with a well done steak vs a medium rare steak too even though one tastes like leather.

The coke zero bit is funny. Like neither is good for you, but the artificial sweeteners just taste gross. Like if I'm gonna drink the juice that kills me I'll have the good tasting one. Like give me some NA style grape soda or EU style fanta exotic or lemon. Like the regular fanta would be good too but they ruined the recipe to have both sugar and artificial sweetner so now it's just the juice that kills you but it also tastes bad.

As with all things, as I’m sure NL would argue, it gets to be an arms race of: do the negative effects of artificial sweeteners outweigh the negative effects of sugar? What’s the dosage? What’s the likelihood? Like, heart disease and general health effects of increased fat from excess sugar consumption are conclusive and well-known. Not that sweet anything should necessarily be consumed or not studied, but do people get too up in arms about it vs more obvious detrimental factors?

I feel so bad for the servers who thought they'd get a table. They had to go fill up water glasses and put them away. They think they're gonna get a nice tip and then their table just leaves. Then you gotta go put all the water glasses away. At best, it's a big letdown and a few minutes of unpaid labor. If you're reading this, don't do that.
