Back in 2019 I bought my pc parts at pretty much peak price and still managed to get a really good build for like $2k. Buying pre-built is the dumbest thing you can do because it took me less than an hour to put the thing together as somebody that's never done anything like that before.

Picking and buying the parts based on where you are is absolutely time consuming and can be where you can fuck up to lose money or make the build process a nightmare. I built my pc and recommend others do the same but there's a bunch of asterisks attached and if someone doesn't find pc hardware interesting in its own right paying the prebuilt tax is fine specially if they're a rich streamer

I drove to a Mcdonalds in Ottawa like 2 weeks ago for the first time in months and the 10 piece chicken nugget combo (10 nugs + med fries + med drink + sauces) I got was 16$ after tax. With doordash or ubereats im sure that would be at least 20$. For roughly the same price, you could order a quality meal from a local restaurant for takeout, and im sure it would taste better. I dont think that most people see Mcdonalds as the "cheap" fast food anymore.

I assume Canada and Australia have the same sort of taxes and general pc part market, and our $ are pretty close. A high-mid tier PC (i7/64GB/4070Ti/2TB NVME) I just whipped together on PC Part Picker is 3.6k AUD. 4k is not outlandish when factoring peripherals and any other creature comforts.

I'm European so we have walkable/bikeable cities and i know it's probably not a fair comparison but it's just wild to me that having a hamburger delivered to your doorstep (and paying 15 bucks extra for it) is now apparently considered the default "staple" option in conversations about how much food costs. First of all, try thinking of a hamburger as a once in a while treat instead of a regular meal option, and second of all, to-your-door delivery is a luxury that's supposed to be reserved for when you have a little extra disposable income. Actually eating out in the first place is supposed to be the exception, not the rule. Grownups should be preparing their own food 6 out of 7 days. If you have the money to pay someone else to make all your meals, that's fine, but I don't think of you as a grownup. I barely think of myself as a grownup compared to my parents and grandparents with the amount of chores that are automated or on-demand streaming nowadays.

Uber eats etc, usually at least in Australia charge between 20-40% of the money the business makes through the App, so at restraunts we usually raise the amount by X+5-10% So like at this cafe we used to work at uber charged us 25% so we'd just charge 30% bonus price to order delivery. So if something was $10 on order it was $13 $2.5 of the bonus $3 is sent basically directly into ubers pockets.

pro helldivers tip, stop trying to figure out which combination of advanced graphics options will work & just turn them all (except for cloud quality and antialiasing) to Low, then go to display options & turn framerate limit on (make sure vsync is off if you havent already turned it off), then set your framerate limit to 60 fps. if it still plays framey then bump your "render scale" down by a notch -- i promise you the game looks better running smooth than it ever will as a slideshow, esp when bad framerate eats your inputs & gets you killed
