People love to say that "children are resilient". Nothing could be further from the truth. When a child is abused the future is no longer an opportunity. Regardless of my natural abilities and strength, I still wish that my abuser had killed me when I was five. I never stood a chance. Child abusers need to be treated as murderers, even though there isn't a corpse, a life has been taken.

Exactly! HOW did this lower than a piece of excrement only get 15 years for child molester? I would have given him the death penalty on life with no parole, and let one of the inmates that are already doing life torture and kill him.

I agree. I was badly abused by both of my parents and they ruined my life for good. Kids need parents to be there and to show them how to ‘be’ in the world. You don’t just ignore them and teach them nothing and abuse them or let one parent abuse them and say nothing. I think charges should be brought up on some of these parents (such as mine) and they should be thrown in prison. They are killers.

I feel for you greatly Zoe. Unfortunately our justice system fails us as a community. Sex abusers and pedo's get a like a 2 years sentence and can get out sooner because they offer the prisoner a sex abuse class and get 6 months to a year off their bid. It's sad because their victims are scarred and f"cked up for life. After them doing so little time in prison they get out to have another chance to do the same crime and again get a similar sentence if caught. The prison system sees the sex abusers and pedo's as a sickness and offering them a sex abuse program will heal their so called sickness. Our justice system is a freaking joke. I agree with you. Their victims are effed up for life and will deal with trauma their whole life. So why can't they give these sex abusers a sentence in which correlates with their victims trauma. I fell like the minimum sentence should be 10 years and upward to 25 to life for victimizing a child. Our dumb justice system fails us time and time again. I'm sorry this justice system has failed you too. I know it traumatizes you more knowing that your abuser is a free person and can and most likely will strike again claiming yet another victim.

It cannot be overstated how much sexual abuse, especially child sexual abuse, destroys a person's psyche. Some people with a shattered psyche solely sink into depression, possibly becoming a danger to themselves, and some people become a danger to others. One's empathy can be broken, your heart can just close and all you know is cold pain and rage. Just hatred. The top comment summed it up, sexual abuse needs to be treated as seriously as murder, it's taking a life while they're still alive, and the broken person can go on to harm others. Without the sexual abuse and abusive childhood environment, I am 99% confident these murders would not have happened.

It's absolutely accurate that an overwhelming amount of people who are abused do NOT get catalyzed into criminal activity from it. It's also a reality that some are shattered out of their humanity and whatever psychological balance they were born with. This is NOT an effort to excuse, downplay, or normalize violence. Just to explain some of the roots, because finding any preventable root causes of destructive behaviors, along with working out ways to reduce the frequency of those root causes occurring, is extremely valuable. Penalization for a crime committed does not undo trauma, does not bring the dead back to life, does not erase grief. Child sexual abuse is undoubtedly destructive. Any sexual abuse is, and extremely so in children. Different people break differently. Putting more sexual abusers behind bars and keeping them there is only good for everyone. Making quality psychological services more widely and freely accessible to children, teens, and adults is only good for everyone. Constructing and diligently implementing better child protective services to ACTUALLY protect children whose environments have failed them is only good for everyone. I genuinely mean "catalyzed" into criminal action, as in, "whatever violent or otherwise destructive temperament traits were already shaped in this person were sharply heightened and activated by this influence/incident", and not "caused", as in "anyone would develop these behaviors in response to this influence/incident." It's not a case of "the cause is the only crime, an individual is absolved from actions taken from their own nerves and muscles." I cannot say enough that someone going through trauma and then going on to hurt others is not an excuse, a sob story, a pity party, a get-out-jail-free card--absolutely they must get the same serious consequences as anyone for harming another. Understanding catalyzing factors for destructive behavior, things that contribute to destabilizing some individuals into violent behavior, is an avenue of hope to find ways to prevent more people from harming others. I can see that it is a thing that some people will lighten their attitude toward people who have caused harm, when the offenders have experienced trauma themselves. That's really unhelpful, and that same attitude would hinder the efforts to put and keep more sex offenders behind bars, because some of them went through traumatic upbringings and etc. Each person is responsible for their actions and should be held so. That's part of stopping these cycles of abuse and violence.

This story has so many victims caught in a generational cycle of abuse. Protect the children and be vigilant. Just FYI from a retired history prof. = Noble woman Elizabeth Bathory killed 500+ women and girls, Victorian- era baby farmer Ameila Dyer murdered at least 400 infants, and Victorian nurse Mary Anne Cotton slaughtered at least 21 people (mostly her relative). So, Aileen Wuorous was not the 1st female killer (not even the first US) and this piece of work was not the worst, at least in terms of torture and/or body count.

Hello from Hungary :) Actually your informations about Hungarian noble woman "Elisabeth Bathory" are not true. Her real name was Báthory Erzsébet, and it is widely known and proved by Hungarian historists that these charges against her were fabricated, and they were created by political enemies of her family at the time. "The accusations were a spectacle to destroy her family's influence in the region, which was considered a threat to the political interests of her neighbors, including the Habsburg empire." "The charges leveled against Báthory have been described by several historians as a witch-hunt." "Stories about Báthory quickly became part of national folklore. Legends describing her vampiric tendencies, such as the tale that she bathed in the blood of virgins to retain her youth, were generally recorded years after her death and are considered unreliable."

I agree. I also believe that we give far too much attention & notoriety to mass murderers/killers with higher body counts, etc. A prime example is Mark Chapman who killed John Lennon. He publically admitted he did it so he would go down in history as the person responsible for his death. Clearly he felt he wasnt capable of doing something positive to earn his place in history so he committed this atrocity against an innocent man who was already famous in hopes of garnering himself a comparable amount of fame. There's far too much attention given to this group of people who for the most part it's exactly what they want. I believe we need to, become aware of these cases so we can learn from them in hopes of minimizing them in the future & better protecting ourselves from any future attacks so we too do not become victims There's a huge difference between being aware of crime & exploiting it solely for their own personal benefit.(ex. using it for content, etc).

Sorry, but SHE made these choices, not her trauma. She knew what she was doing was wrong and didn’t care. Traumatized or not, she made the choice to become who she became,( a predator). I think most people, (especially those who have been harmed by someone else) would choose not to be the person that harms another. Period. I don’t feel sorry for her now. Yes, what happened to her as a child should NEVER have happened, but because it did is no excuse a person with a conscience would use to give reason to how they become a person that would do what she did. I mean, thinking that she could have been helped better, is true, probably. And to feel sympathy that she didn’t get that help, I get. But at this point, the biggest reason to wish she’d gotten help should be for her victim(s). In the hopes that she would have chosen a better path. One that would’ve spared him from ever coming across her and her twisted thoughts.

This being said i chose to fight for a better life for myself and my babies. Ive worked my butt off i have 2 jobs and i am very proud of the life ive provided on my own. I Chose to be better, you see i couldve ended up like Miranda and just blamed it on my childhood and my parents but what good does that do for anyone? So much suffering has been had why should we help the darkness spread instead i choose to be a bright ass light in that dark as i hope my brothers and sisters out there who have suffered similar injustices do as well. He instead took it to trial & was found guilty which he received life in prison with possibility of parole after 45 years. So, he got cocky and thought he'd be let off yet our own D.A. Was only giving 10 years! 10!!! When he deserved MANY more! Our justice system is messed up but thankfully fellow human beings on the jury saw through his "charm" and gave him the sentence he deserved so he can't do this ever again! It takes 1 time to mess a person up when this happens. And I'm certain that is one of the main reasons if not THE main reason it messed Miranda up when it happened over and over.

@Karen Wang, maybe you should subscribe to the channels THEY steal the content from. None of THEIR content is THEIRS. THEY use other channel's content and hard work without permission and without giving credit. They get important information wrong, and mispronounce people's and place's names.

@Dark Case Documentaries, be careful of this channel, Anna Uncovered, and THEIR other channel Anna Solves (of which THEY do NOT Uncover or Solve), as they are a content farm, and use other channels' content without permission. They also get important information wrong, and mispronounce people's names, and general words. They are frauds.

Love your content, sir 😊 Well, what you do with the content, not the actual content itself, which goes without saying. I have some serious cognitive dissonance whenever I compliment true crime channels 🤷‍♀️

When I was growing up my own mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She grew up with a violent alcoholic father and I always suspected he had sexually abused her. The chronic stress and violence was enough to cause psychotic symptoms. My grandmother took her to the church for an exorcism. I wonder if she was so angry at God. Abandonment by everyone including God. The ongoing lack of goodness and escapism modeled by her mother seems to be a pattern.
@christar9527

I highly doubt that she needed an exorcism. They traumatize people even more if they don’t need one. Did the priest do a lot of proper psychological tests before that? I hope so. Sad.

@@christar9527 I’m not sure yet I doubt it. My grandmother was a devout catholic so it makes sense that she’d turn to the church. There was little understanding about schizophrenia and how to manage it. The medication was horrible so she would get a bit better and stop taking it-

I think the tittle should have been "The teen who Said/Claimed she killed 22". The current one makes it sound like it is factual that she actually did kill 20 (as u wrote in the tittle). JS Anyways; she should never be let out...thank God the baby didn't have 2b raised by her.

I definitely understand your frustration and have no arguments with your opinion. I would just like to say as a victim, survivor from the age of 3, I now am an advocate for sexually abused children through adults. I never use nor accept any story of abuse as an excuse. There is no excuse however, it sheds light on why these crimes occur which I pray and hope helps stop the the abuse of any child. Thats just my take on why you may feel the perpetrator gets more attention and help than the victims. If we don’t know why, how, what and understand what caused these ppl to do such horrific crimes we may never be able to intervene and stop the cycle of abuse and worse. I appreciate your thoughts and they are absolutely valid Im just giving you my opinion why we hear so much about the criminal. God bless.
