I don't see that anyone else has commented that this movie has the distinction of having 2 future Governors of US states. Arnold was obviously Governor of California, but Jessie Ventura was also Governor of Minnesota. ✌💯😁

The predator hunts for sport and collects trophies; When he pulled out Billy's brain and spine, it was because he was willing to stand and face him with only a knife. Later, he was even more impressed with Arnold/Dutch. That was why he examined his face and chose to fight him in hand-to-hand combat.

I'm glad they don't reveal too much about the Predator in this movie. Sometimes less is more. The less you know about the Predator stalking you, the scarier he becomes. And because they don't reveal too much about this creature, intrigue for the Predator continues to endure. No wonder it is considered a great cult classic after all these past decades since it's release. And why it has such a large fan base to this day! -OG

On another point, Billie apparently fought so well that the Predator was honored by him. Predators(I forgot their actual species name) only collect skulls from prey if they are very strong opponents. So the Predator either respected that Billy purposely fought with only a knife, or Billy nearly killed the predator in honorable combat

An interesting analogy that I don't often see mentioned is that the way the Predator hunts humans is very much the way humans hunt animals. We use enhanced vision (vibrant color, binocular, light-based), lures (animal calls, fake scents, food), ranged weaponry (firearms), and we especially like being all but invisible (camouflage, high hides). One thing we don't do is really have much respect for our kills, while the Predator shows immense respect for his.

Fun Fact: Jesse Ventura was delighted to find out from the wardrobe department that his arms were one inch bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger's. You're going to have to get up much earlier in the day to get one over a professional practical joker. Don't Drink It Fact: The Predator's blood - a goopy substance with the color of Mountain Dew - was made on-set using a mixture of the liquid from inside glow sticks and KY Jelly. Practical Effect Fact: The invisibility cloaking effect was achieved with a bright red suit (because it was the farthest opposite of the green of the jungle and the blue of the sky) the size of the Predator. The red was removed with chroma key techniques, leaving an empty area. The take was then repeated without the actors using a 30% wider lens on the camera. When the two takes were combined optically, the jungle from the second take filled in the empty area. Because the second take was filmed with a wider lens, a vague outline of the alien could be seen with the background scenery bending around its shape.

110:05 If I recall, Jessie(The guy with the minigun) actually did get injured in an explosion 11:01 and just shrugged it off. Why? He was a former member of UDT(Underwater Demolition Teams) which were the precursors of US-Navy SEALS, meaning he's been in alot of crazy crap in real life

I've said since a kid if you hear me saying "I'm gonna have me sum fun", RUN, because I lost my mind. Also, Arnold was my favorite governor because he got shit done.

The Story was written in the 1950's as "Arena". The story was used on "The Outer Limits" as "Fun and Games", "Star Trek" in the 1960's as "Arena". Billy was American Indian, they had a saying "It is a good day to Die', and that bag around his neck was a medicine bag. Human's are Predators, what makes us that way are our eyes. Fish, Foul and some animals are prey, we are not supposed to eat fellow predators, like Dogs, felines and Birds like the Eagle, the Hawk as well as Monkeys.

The Predator didn't parrot Arnold's line. He legitimately asked him back, "What the hell are YOU?" He wasn't expecting a human to be so competent and be able to kill him. "What am I? What are YOU?"

Billy Bear is Native American, hence great tracking, natural instincts and great warrior 😎👍

The horror element was dominant in this Predator movie because the audience knew nothing about the Predator and nothing is scarier than the fear of the unknown. The jungle terrain was an icing on the cake 🔥 Ghost or witches are frightening too but I guess nothing is more frightening than being stalked by a 7.5 feet tall transparent figure who kills brutally 😅

Probably my favorite movie of all time. Everything is perfect. Great plot, loveable protagonists, great villain, and vengeance. Plus it's Arnie in his prime. Can't ask for much more.

Billy was a warrior from a long line of warriors and hunters. He did not want to meet his death running and afraid so chose to turn and face it . He sliced himself to deny the predator drawing first blood.

When Arnie says “it’s getting better” in the helicopter, he was actually being sarcastic. He didn’t mean he prefers missions that are tough.

You guys were lucky that you saw this movie with no spoilers. I saw this movie when I was a kid, and all the other kids already spoiled what the Predator was, so it was nice to see your reactions and wonder about what it was.

Predator 2 is one of the few sequels that matches the original! Set 7 years in the future from when it was made in 1990! Two fantastic movies!

Peter Cullen did the vocalizations for the Predator. I have to wonder sometimes if he'd be doing similar for outtakes with Transformers stuff, since he's the voice of Optimus Prime in most of the Transformers incarnations. Billy chose to try to challenge the Predator to buy the others some more time to get away. Him being a bit more in tune with what's going on might be similar to the girl's village's stories. Billy is a Native American and his tribal history might have tales of similar "demons". Beings that would hunt hunters and warriors, and perhaps even some stories of some tribal heroes fighting these things. And some knowledge of how they would view someone willing to fight them with a blade as more worthy prey than those using a bow or gun. The necklace is part of his "medicine" (which is difficult to explain easily, as it's a larger concept applied to multiple things), something that at the very least gives him emotional strength in times of doubt. One theory as to why they hang and skin people is as a means of announcing "One of our kind is hunting here", or to show others like them "This area is occupied by a Hunter".

Watch the prequel Prey and then Predator 2, in that order. Trust me on this one.

Another aspect I enjoy is the movie is almost two movies in one. The first part is commentary about the U.S.A. having side missions into other countries without citizens knowing about them until decades later when classified information becomes declassified. The 80's here in the states...there was a big "war on drugs" specifically against cocaine and many Latin American countries are the right climate for growing and harvesting that plant. The second part of the movie, which is what the name is based on, ( Predator) is with Arnold aka Dutch and his men fighting the alien hunter. Ya gotta love how this film switches from a high octane action film to a straight up slasher flick ; complete with a mask-clad knife-wielding killer! Fun fact: One of the original pitches for this film was "Rambo vs JASON". Poncho and Blaine were played by actual Nam vets and they both suffered PTSD doing this film. Billy needed a security team with him... To keep the locals safe from him. At one time there was supposed to be a sex scene between Anna and Dutch but Arnold objected. The chopper pilot was played by an out-of-suit Kevin Peter Hall.

As pointed out in the other comments, this movie is interesting in that it switches genres midway through from a war/guerrilla movie into a sci-fi movie. The one thing I wish they had done differently in that regard is not show the predator coming to earth in the beginning. That gives the audience a clue that the threat is alien in nature, but if they did not show it we would be clueless and caught off guard the same as the characters. Then they could have saved the alien origin reveal for the third act, and it would have been even more impactful.

You are not the only reactor who confuse Billy's body with Anna. I can't see the resemblance but many others make that mistake.

Speaking of Preadator 2 it is set in Los Angeles it came out in 1990.

You should watch Predator 2 and Prey, and that's pretty much it.

Even though Dutch (Arnold) was victorious against the Predator, he lost his entire team. You can see in his eyes that Dutch is a broken man.

Alien and the sequel Aliens is another example of the sequel being as good as the original. They are brilliant, definitely put them on your list. Parbrahm, when you watch Alien, you will definitely scream like you did during the terminator, which was fantastic. Don't watch any of the other Alien movies other than the first two. Trust me. Another don't-miss is "The Thing" starring Kurt Russel. It's another John Carpenter movie, and I promise you will be astonished. The Thing was before CGI, so all the effects were practical effects and simply astounding. I think it will legitimately blow your mind. ETA: Yeah, you're going to do a lot of screaming when you watch "The Thing." Please, please, please react to it, I would love to see it through your eyes. The Predator is a humanoid alien race called Yautja. They are hunters race that travel across the galaxy to hunt other alien species for sport and collect things like skulls and trinkets for trophies. So they are "predators" hunting "prey". They don't just go and hunt anyone. They only hunt species that give them a challenge. Like they don't just go hunting any and all humans. Like this Yautja was hunting them because they are soldiers/warriors. They also have a honor code as well. They don't hunt the innocent like females/children/elderly, females that are pregnant, the sick/dying, and anyone that doesn't have a weapon or is threatening them. It is against their honor code to do such things. Only time this code can be broken is if it's in self defense. The Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise is the Yautja's most deadliest creatures they hunt. A Yautja can raise his ranks and have lots of respect in his clan when they hunt Xenomorphs. They can because a clan leader if they manage to kills a Xenomorph Queen. It can even go as far as a high council Yautja over multiple clans if they kill 3 or more Xenomorph Queens in a single hunt and survive. Also I want to mention bear the end of the film when the Yautja took off his mask and weapons is because of their honor code. If a Yautja sees a worthy opponent and has no weapons like Dutch did they will take off their mask and weapons to give their "prey" a fair/even fight.

Remember, the Predator is a bone and skull hunter, he particularly likes skulls. He liked Arnold's skull, and wanted to fight him straight up, no weapons. The helicopter pilot is the Predator! I heard that Billy was originally supposed to be the hero character of the movie. In the beginning you see how he has more rapport with the jungle than the rest of the commandos, as he's casually drinking clean water, knowing just what vine to cut to get it. All that stuff that Dutch pulls off in the end with natural camouflage and traps would've been a continuation of that. Even now in the movie he's the first one to understand the Predator's mode of operation: it's a glory hunter. Billy throws away his weapons, grabs his knife and draws first blood on his chest because he realizes that the Predator won't fight with a gun against a knife and if he makes the challenge, the Predator must stop to fight him. Unfortunately for Billy, they got Schwarzenegger to put his star power on the film, so he got the lead role and Billy's sacrifice ended up being in vain, as the Predator wouldn't slow down to fight this middling enemy while everyone else gets away. While it could've been more intriguing that way, the film probably did better in the market thanks to Arnie, so I'm still grateful because now it's a cult classic.

Please watch Arnold in Twins (1988), Total Recall (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and True Lies (1994), as well as Jingle All the Way (1994), Junior (1996), and The Sixth Day (2000). Also, after you watch Predator 2 (1990), which takes place in 1997 Los Angeles, you will be ready to watch Prey (2022), which takes place in the Northern Great Plains, 1719! Since you like watching traps being set up and sprung, you should watch Home Alone (1990) this December!!!

As a self-described reaction video nerd, I can tell you one thing you two do better than any other reactors I have seen, even the ones with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. You remember the names of the movie characters and make comments using their names during your reaction. That shows me you are invested in the stories.

I am almost certain someone in the comments explained Billy's decision already. Nevertheless, Billy chose the true warrior's way to die and the Predator showwed his respect for genuine combat by collecting Billy's skull as a trophy. Billy's death, although off screen, is my favorite.
