Well, I bought one and have had it a couple of days. It IS a really nice laser, really happy with it so far. But the filtration not working on anything, but the NC files is ridiculous. I hope they get that figured out quickly as it makes it kind of useless as I use Lightburn. And FYI it is now on Amazon, $359, BUT that includes Lightburn license. So really the same as $299 through them and $60 for LB license fee. And it came in 4 or 5 days. At first, Amazon listed a ONE DAY shipping option for $27.35. I chose that, but they could not deliver in the one day, so Amazon refunded the shipping fee I paid. I hope you will keep posting information about this laser. Like when they get the air extraction issue fixed to work outside their nc files only. Thanks for the great review and information. New subscriber!

For all who are thinking about this machine or own this machine. I have been after Flying Bear to fix the issue of the Air Purifier on this machine NOT turning on when controlled through LB. I was told originally; they were working on this and would have an update coming to solve this. LHG, I believe you were told the same. I was just contacted in a KZfaq post AND directly from support via email. They are now saying that the Air Purifier cannot be controlled via LB and they cannot change this. This is ridiculous. That is like saying it would be impossible to turn off and on Air Assist through LB on other machines. Whether it is blowing or sucking in air, it is a motor that can be switched. Obviously, they just CHOOSE NOT to fix this problem. And as an owner of this machine for several months now, it is a REAL PAIN to have to save the GCODE to the SC card and take to the machine every time you want to burn a project. And if you need to make changes back to the PC to save a new file to the SC card with changes and the of course back to the Laser man to burn. It's painful! Then one response to my concern was to sell me their stand-alone Air Purifier that can be manually switched off and on. Really, well the problem with the machine is, they don't sell filters to this machine, so you have no way to replace the filter once dirty. So, I cannot recommend this machine until they put the time and money into solving this problem. And IF you are considering this machine know the company and this machine has operational flaws that make it VERY time consuming and more difficult to use efficiently. I now regret buying this machine and FlyingBear certainly falls short of supporting its customers and machines sold.

Some of the newer 5w diode lasers really are surprising with their cutting power! It's nice to see some better cable management as well.

Nice review Rich, thanks. I wonder if the air extraction system is helping with the clarity of the photo engraving? I dont recall air assist running ( and standard air extraction doesn't seem as strong as this one ) in you S9 review. Seems like a nice machine.

No Mark, I ran about 20 photos on this machine, with and without the air. I didn't see a big difference in clarity at all.

Did you get to try their 10 watt laser? Saw it was $180 on their website but light on power specs. Looked at picture and saw it was 12vdc but no Amp numbers. Have sent question to them.

It's the same as any other 10W Merrill. 12 or 24DC makes no difference. They still output 10 optical watts. The difference is, a 12V system uses double the amperage of a 24V system at the wall outlet. Moving up the 20W+ multi laser diodes I would prefer to see 24V so they can use the same gage wiring, but on the 5-10W diodes, 12V is fine.

Yes, I did stainless and was able to get gold and black marks. I got green, gold & black on aluminum. The video went too long to show all the results.

Well, it's just a 3 wire plug, so you can probably wire any other module to work. But I'm perfectly happy with this 5W module.

It's an 8x10 and the time depends on your settings. If I remember right, this one took 55 minutes.

can you help? I just burned some names on a few bamboo pens and now that I am doing another, I get this 'CUT MIGHT BE OUT OF BOUNDS DUE TO OVERSCAN SETTINGS' but the only thing I did was type in another name with the same number of letters. I am using the AUFERO 1 with Lightburn 1.2.01. I would have gone to LIGHTBURN but I wouldn't get an answer for a long time.

Hey Rich I'm literally just a beginner but your finish location seems off to me.... X=200.0 Y=225.00 Isn't that dead centre? I'm probably wrong Tbh because like I said I'm a complete beginner. I've been watching your video for quite a while before I was anywhere near ready to even buy a laser engraver and I've bought a cheap one that someone who knows a lot more than me built and I'm having fun running test file after test file on various mediums. Slate is my current favourite..... Only because I've got that kind of dialed in 😂 😂 Thank for the review this looks a fanatic laser for the budget/beginner.

You can set it to whatever you want. I chose the 225 since it would be the top of my work piece.

I didn't know that tinkercad doesn't let you find all the items in their archives if you are not registred, so I foud all I needed only after creating an account!!! Soooo strange! No advise about it!! Hope this information helps for someone else! I also tried to put directly here the links for the items requested, but my comment was deleted for it, so only you, if you want, can do this in the description box below the video.
