The MacMaster and The Blonde Angel are in Nottingham to review Son of Steak for a Steak. When our steak dinner came if was a little disappointing, however not all was bad, there were a few plusses and minuses. Take a look for yourself and let us know in the comments section how you would rate the steaks and the restaurant itself.

Minus several million for no proper plate alone! And I've not even got to you eating the food yet. Poncey slatey things and all these novelty food containers....have you seen the little supermarket trolleys for chips? Nonsense. 🛒🍟🤣

Great video, and yep does my head in when I get served a slate, as top chefs say if you need a fancy slate to showcase your food then you're normally in trouble. Just give us a decent plate! Whether its fancy or not! Sure there is an article online somewhere about the top chefs very much against it

Another good video. First I'm with you 100% on the plates. Never mind the fancy, give my a plain white plate every time, let the food be the star? No lettuce, gherkins and run out of chips, in the words of a well known star, I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I would rate it a six but as it has been mentioned below it's the quality of the basic ingredient (steak) is sometimes beyond the restaurants control but they must know how to cook to order. It is surprising how many times medium is different. Keep up the good work!

My food bill every week for fresh fruit and vegetables plus some cheap cuts of meat is around £30. Thats why we never eat out in the UK. Utter pisstake price just cos people can't be bothered to find the good stuff and have a bash at cooking it.

Good evening Angie and Lee. What can i say about this Establishment. Lovely Steaks, Chips pretty Good, i do not like Fillers on a meal. What are they trying to hide. In this modern day and age, a Restaurant still must use plates and full cutlery. Again, when you get really Customer Service with a Smile and Respect for the Customer that makes the meal enjoyable, and a very Good Relaxing Ambience in the Restaurant. Yes, very well priced for what you had. Another Great Production Lee and Angie. Take Great Care of Yourselves. 😃😃😃😃❤❤💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'll give the waitress who walked by around 9:00 a 10!. The "plates" were bonkers stupid. I'd have sent Blond Angels's steak back as soon as she cut into it. I like my steaks blue. I can't get blue here in the US so rare is my only option. If you have to put a sauce on a steak, it's pants. That place reminded me of a chain over here called Chilis. same sort of decor and lighting but Chillis for two doesn't cost 56 quid. I'd have rated that place a 5.

First of all, it is ok to say 'waiter' and 'waitress' and I will always refer to them as such. Also, whoever voiced any disappointment when anywhere has run out of lettuce ... no-one ever! Ha! It was nice to see Angie again, Lee, and visiting Nottingham again. I've never heard of this place, the American terminology does my head in on the menu's though ... 'slaw' ffs! ... I prefer my English to be English, thankyou. For me, the steaks looked lovely, juicy and moist, just like your meat should be, but that's where it ended really as the steak didn't look that tender by how you were cutting it. The chips looked ok, but the slates on chopping boards are VERY off putting for me, (I want my food on a plate) and with the plate fillers also. I wouldn't bother with this place personally, and as you said "it's certainly no Miller and Carter". Nice video though.

Slate “plates” are so 2017 !!!, I had to laugh when you plonked a big pile of chips out, and said there weren’t many chips !!!. Pretty expensive as well, you could get a better steak with all the fixings for half that price, in a local RSL club , here in Australia. Thought of you yesterday, out shopping, the fishmonger in the shopping centre does hot food, it’s pretty good, you can get battered fish, chips and salad for the Sterling equivalent of 5 quid …..😊

I think a lot of the problems with steak is not the restaurants fault. Its more to do with the way beef is reared these days. Gone are the days where these animals get fed by mum and move onto grass for their life. The biggest part of these are reared in enclosures with no access to grass. Fed corn, soya and anything unnatural. They lack exercise that builds muscle and so it goes on. Some are on growth promoters and antibiotics and equally bad stuff. Also since BSE they are slaughtered young. All of this accounts to little flavour. If you can find a piece of grass reared which has been hung correctly it costs a fortune. All this to produce cheap beef to the masses at the expense of flavour.
@munnjean
@munnjean Жыл бұрын
First of all I agree with the point you made about " hung correctly ". That being said there is absolutely nothing " unnatural " regarding corn and soya. The process here is to raise the beef on the range then pen them in feedlots. The food is natural wheat and no, they do not have the ability to exercise. Aging beef should be dry aged no less that thirty days, preferably longer. Vacuum packaged beef that the majority of the steakhouses use, it's impossible to tell how much age is on the beef when it's received. I'm sure you will agree they can put anything on a label. You mention problems with steak is not the restaurants fault ,,,, really ,,, so what are you suggesting ? that we pay ridiculous amounts of money for a steak and if it's tough and flavourless too bad ?? On the contrary sir, serve me a high price cut of beef that is chewy and flavourless and it will go right back ,, I've done that a number of times ,, I simply want what I'm paying for. Have a nice day sir.
@RobertSmith-cv1cu
@RobertSmith-cv1cu Жыл бұрын
Some good points here but can I add that the use of soya is a huge problem from climate point of view as most is grown from land from cut down rain forest. Thats the reason that soya is a problem. The age the animal is slaughtered makes a huge difference. Good cattle need time to mature slowly. I think we all enjoy a good steak.

WTFish,run out of lettuce, it's not rocket science 😂😂. I know it was early,but the thin on the ground customer's should have given you a hint.Steak'n'chips is a basic. That should be within most chefs range. The supply chain,being able to source the steak can help,its not about the cost but how well it was reared.Some time it's just a bad cut of meat.😢😢Now with all that said was great to see Angie, and sorry to hear that Nick was under par.
