Top 100 Best Selling Music Artists of All Time

Күн бұрынThis list is based upon a system called Equivalent Album Sales (EAS). This takes into account multiple facets of an artist’s success beyond simple album sales, and helps to show a more complete look at the best performing music acts of all time.
Conversion ratio between formats:
Studio album: sales of the original album (ratio 1/1)
Other LPs: sales of compilations generated thanks to the album (ratio 1/1)
Physical singles: sales of physical singles from the album (added to CSPC total with a ratio 3/10 for 2-tracks, 5/10 for EPs and Maxis)
Digital singles: sales of digital singles from the album (ratio 1.5/10 for CSPC total)
Streaming: EAS of all the album tracks (ratio 1/1500 for Audio stream and 1/6750 for Video stream)

This is just wrong. Album sales are harder to get today because of streaming. Simply listening to an album on a streaming platform will not generate a sale. Back in the day you had to buy the album and that would immediately generate a sale. If anything to modern age streaming hurts sale numbers.

Almost 6x the amount of singles, yet only about 2x the amount of album sales compared to Zeppelin. There's no 2 ways about it, Zeppelin sold a frankly amazing amount of records with how few singles they released.

I guess this list is correct if you only count the albums sales, and not the singles. But when you include the singles The Beatles and Elvis Presley has both sold well over 1 billion records.

Check out Chartmastersfor the most accurate sales by artist as can be, these are not overinflated. This you tuber used information from there to get his video results. Hope this will help you understand record sales and how it works, once you check it out.

Big one here.. where is Pearl Jam? Their worldwide total is between 85-100 million. In the US they have 31+ million alone (more than RHCP or Nirvana) but they’re not on the EAS site at all 🤔🤔

I have a hard time believing Elton John is behind Pink Floyd and Madonna or even Queen or Eminem. He has had more than fifty top forty hits and about thirty top ten hits and about 9 number ones. In six decades. Also, where the heck are The Eagles. Their greatest hits has sold more than forty million copies.

You think Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd sold more than Queen? The band that gave the best concert ever in Live Aid? The band that had a movie a couple of years ago that was a complete success? The band that wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You, Can't Stop Me Now, and Under Pressure? I adore Pink Floyd, but Queen was the bigger band.

@@ChrisPBacon2 Yea Floyd and Zeppelin sold more than Queen until the movie came out Queen weren’t put in the same league as them and Zeppelin also performed at Live Aid to 2 billion their performance was a disaster but more people were excited about Zeppelin performing than Queen before the show started

@@ChrisPBacon2Queen has definitely never been bigger than Led Zeppelin. Maybe only in recent years. Led Zeppelin broke countless records in the 70s with sales and concerts, as well as boasting the most played song in radio history Stairway to Heaven. Both Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd have albums in the top 10 best selling of all time, Queen does not.
