The EHT is all cinnamon at first but when you let it sit it opens up to a lot sweeter and maple syrup profile. In the beginning it was one note but opened up nicely.

Just got my 1st Stagg today, and it happens to be batch 18 (131)…paid $200 but way less than I’ve seen them for anywhere else locally. Once again you nailed a review Jason. This is a really different profile as compared to any other BT offering or even other famed barrel proof bottles.

Great review Jason. Neither are huntable bottles for us but we did luck into a Stagg 18 for 80 and are looking forward to getting into it at some point soon. Batch 12 and 16 were past favorites and it sounds like this batch leans darker, somewhat similar to those, over the brighter and fruitier batches like 15 and 17. That's promising.

I live in AL and both of these are allocated and only available 1 day once a year. I had the chance to pick between a Weller 12 or the EH Taylor barrel proof and went with the Weller 12 since I could get the EH Taylor single barrel also. I'm glad I did so as the single barrel is delicious and is not overly hot like you mentioned for the barrel proof. I absolutely love my bottle of Stagg! I find it very dangerous for the proof and one of the best pours I've gotten my hands on thus far in my bourbon journey. Retail was $49.99 and insanely well priced at that msrp. I would not have been disappointed if the msrp was $99.99 as it's that good.

Benefits of living in Oregon, I got a bottle of Stagg today for $50, and because of the winter storm, didn't have to fight the lame truck chasing hunters, my local store had one bottle left. It's amazing. Tastes way different than batch 17, tastes older to me.

I'm not a well-connected man, but my local liquor store had a Bourbon Day event on December 30th and I spent the night in line and managed to get both of these, along with a few other choice bottles. The timing of your video is perfect :)

I just picked this up from a hole in the wall liquor store in Baltimore right around the corner from Penn Station….the had it for 60 bucks along with other buffalo trace products in a corner with dust on it. Couldn’t believe it….ran outa there with it…thx for a good vid!

My local grocery had one STAGG and I think it sold for $110, not bad I guess except I missed out. I've never even seen an EH Taylor barrel proof but I was able to fine 2 EH Taylor BIB, one for $44 and the second was $55, still worth it for me but damn that took me 2 years! I was lucky enough to get both of these bottles in the last 3 weeks. I’ve opened the EHT but not the Stagg. The Taylor is definitely hot but it’s really nice. Especially if you let it open up with a couple drops of water. Cheers!

Yeah the Stagg Batch 15 I have is going for like $800 now. Crazy. I’ll be holding onto it for about 10 years, and then see what it is worth :) I drank 2 bottles of it prior to buying this bottle back in 2020. It was magical.

Stagg, jr was available from time to time in local stores here - at close to suggested retail - up until 2020. Then boom - it totally disappeared. Ok, Maybe an occasional bottle for $250. I just buy more ECBP now. Never seen EH Taylor BP under $400.

I always wait for your reviews, you keep it real and your palette aligns pretty well with mine. Stagg Jr Batch 15 and 17 are my favorites, and I loved last years EH Taylor Barrel Proof. I’m not sure how hard I’ll hunt this years releases. I love that candy flavor punch

Just now able to watch this. We like EHT and will try Stagg whenever we see one for less than $250, but I just have a hard time justifying all of the BT NAS when I can pick up 10 yr Eagle Rare regularly for MSRP.

Got my hands on this for $92 after tax, guy behind me offered me a 22 4rose LE straight trade for it. Love all the 4 roses ive had, never had a LE tho. EhBP batch 8 has been my all time fav whiskey but due to bright red fruit notes that im not hearing are as present in this one.. do we think its worth the trade?

Got into bourbon and collecting 2 yrs ago. Just got my first stagg jr (now stagg) for just under 200. I’m scared to open it as it’s my best bottle😅. But when I do I can’t wait to put it up against my Russell’s 13yr! What do you like better? It would be a great comparison

Great review. This was my first year getting into bourbon and I actually was able to snag both of these close to retail. $78 for EH BP and $63 for STAGG. I also enjoyed the STAGG more than the EH! Cheers!

There are no batch numbers on the bottles - you can only distinguish them by the proof which is always unique. There are multiple sites out there that list every batch by proof.

gone are the days when u could buy stagg jr for $55. I paid $250 - $300 in store for 15 - 17. Ratner see the liquor store make the money than the blankety blanks flipping on secondary, who ruin it for the rest of us who want to enjoy and collect... I am done paying that much, rhough.

I don't get what the difference is supposed to be between these two bottles. Both are barrel proof versions of mashbill 1 aged around a suspected 8 years. If anything I've heard that Stagg is maybe a bit older but still MSRPs for slightly lower. Can anyone explain what the difference is supposed to be besides just slapping a different label on it?

Honestly I don't think the eh Taylor is that old. And they are also aged in different warehouses which makes the flavor a bit different
