Another great video! 😄 To answer some of your questions: 1. Waypoints are automatically unlocked, once you go near them. To use them just open the map and click on one... simple! 2. Stats in this game are a bit different than in other MMOs and alow for alot of buildcrafting. Want to hit hard? Increase your Power/Precision/Ferocity. Want to watch your enemies die a slow and horrible death? Go for Condition Damage which increases your burn/bleed/poison damage. Every class can do damage, heal and even be tanky. Have fun building! 3. You unlock Hero Points by leveling up or completing Hero-Challenges which can be found on every map. Spend these to learn new skills and talents. Don't worry, there is enough of them in the game to unlock every single skill. No need to save them. 4. Salvage Kits are VERY important. You can buy them at many vendors you'll come across. Use them to salvage your unwanted/old gear (never sell stuff to a vendor if it can be salvaged). The materials you get out of the salvaged stuff can be stored in your bank (and you'll need them later, trust me 😅) 5. Play however you want! Don't let anyone tell you to how you HAVE to play the game. Enjoy it at your own pace. Watching your videos reminds me of my first steps in GW2, and I'm glad if I and others can help you on your journey. This community is a family ❤✌

Thank you for putting so much thought into your comments. I'm always happy to see others who are passionate about the games they play and have a connection to.

Vitality (hitpoints) is probably better than toughness for you. Toughness doesn't work against conditional damage (when you're burning, etc.). But Vitality does help against it. You're a warrior that wears heavy armor, so your toughness is already pretty high by default.

Good luck on your journey in gw2! I love the fact that you go blind into the game and I understand that many things will be probably overwhelming, but the community is the best I've seen in any game. I remember years ago when I started playing(and even to this day) even asking on map chat the silliest question, ppl are willing to help and offer their opinion without judgment! As for stats you can of course experiment what works best for you. I would recommend to avoid toughness on open world gaming because by default the person with the highest toughness automatically gets aggro from the enemy. Also the /wiki command on the chat might be useful tool if you ever got stuck on anything and need some help. Have fun until lvl 80, you will reach it pretty soon just following the way game guides you, and after that the great staff begins :)

Enjoyed watching! GW2 is a great game. Here are some tips. 1. You can equip 2 weapon sets, which allows you to switch between them with a small cooldown in combat. Slots are below your main weapon set in the Equipment Screen. 2. You can see what the stats do by hovering over them in the Equipment screen on the right hand side. You had them mostly right. Ferocity is Critical Strike Dmg 3. You can use the Waypoints either from the Map or Mini-map. Just double click the icon on the map to teleport there. It does cost copper\silver. Cost depends on how far the waypoint is. 4. GW2 actually uses a Mega-Server system. So the server you play on actually doesn't determine who you can play with in PvE or PvP. It only affects WvW game mode currently. So anyone can play with each other in PvE. Look forward to watching more in the future!

Way Point - open Map, click on closest Way Point near your destination and poof you're there! Am having lots of fun watching your journey in Tyria. Keep up the good work.

1. Click or double click the waypoint icon on your minimap or world map to teleport. You can resize minimap by dragging the corner. You can also move it to top right by dragging the right side of it if you want. 2. You can equip two sets of weapons and hot swap them in combat. 3. The server you chose only matters for WvW. People can play together if their accounts are in the same region (either EU or NA).

Ive played Guild Wars since 2004/5? And i really enjoy watching this as a hardcore veteran, i have learned so much new i did not know they have implemented. Mount at lvl 10?! Holy shit thats insane, one of the main factors people quit is because of the 100% map exploration. Me my self as a gw vet with maybe 14000hours total in all of gw universe i still do not have a 100% map completion. But if you get a damn raptormount at level 10.. ok lets go.!!! Rurik❤

I highly recommend you turn off "double-tap to Dodge" in the settings. (It's one of the check boxes, just uncheck it) Use V to dodge in the direction of your WASD usage. If you press V to dodge and you are stationary, you will dodge backwards. To dodge in a direction of choice just move in that direction. If you leave it on, you'll find yourself dodging off of high places and dying, particularly in jumping puzzles. :)

Welcome to Tyria! Always glad to see new people come to this amazing game. Thank you for approaching it at your own pace. That not only makes it entertaining to watch, but I think it will be helpful for other new people who may be on the fence about trying Guild Wars, or who might feel a little insecure about how they're approaching it. It's an 11 year old game, with 4 expansions, and a TON of incremental content added in that time. There's a lot to know, and it's normal to feel overwhelmed when jumping in. There's no need to rush, because unlike most other MMOs, the "real game" doesn't start at max level. Enjoy the ride because that's honestly the most well defined part of the game. The lush environments to explore, and rich stories to experience. Looking forward to future episodes!

Great video - and welcome to Tyria. May your journey be fun and engaging. People mention the Raptor Mount's long leap ability. Don't get frustrated if you see no change when trying to do this. People often forget that it's an ability you unlock with mastery points later in the game, so you probably won't see much difference at this point. Weapon Swap - The ability to switch between two weapon sets in combat. On your character screen [H] below your first set [in your case the greatsword] there's a swirly arrow and below that again are boxes to equip your second set - like the staff you picked as a reward or whatever else you might pick up along the way. The ability to actually swap in combat is bound to some key - I can't remember which since I've changed it from default, but it's a game-changer. Much fun to be had!

Wonderful Playtrough - please keep continuing this series - always glad to see new players experience to Guild Wars 2 and there are just a few that actually upload those experiences for us. Very unique moment if you first encounter mechanics and stuff. 🙂 Also since people already answered your questions so far - just let me remind you like a couple before me already did: Dont let anybody rush you - explore and learn like you want and in your speed. This is a big part of the journey and you doing great so far. Since the game is now over 10 years old and got expanded with mechanics and stuff more and more - its overwhelming on the beginning - and since Guild Wars has alot of unique mechanics you won't find in other MMO's like the underwater combat, something like that can really confuse. Enjoy your ride! Definitly going to check any of these vids.

I am watching this a month after you posted so I'm assuming youve figured out way points and started opening your loot bags (heehee). But I see you discovered what I am told is the true end game content - Fashion Wars! Aka seeing new mounts, weapons, armor and being all "oooh, shiny. I want that!" Still fun watching this human story line. I've never played a human yet

Welcome to GW2. It's always fun to see new ppl make their way in the game. Since the game has a lot of systems, the downside is the way they try to teach you about them. Everything is in the tool tips that come up when you level. So, whenever something like that comes up, it's good if you aren't in combat to check it out.

Tbh, if you need help, just ask in map chat. or even talk to any player ;p Almost anyone can help you and even do more than you wanted xD Also it hurts to see that you dont use leaps on your mount. Just hold (not just press, you need to hold) jump button when moving on mount. it will make the raptor lots faster ;)

enjoy the game by doing what you just feel like it. there is no right or wrong way to go. explore or follow your personal story, whatever rocks your boat. - one tip though: collect your daily log-in reward. it's the symbol in the upper left corner. - press _F11_ for options and alter your key bindings to your liking

very good choice *not to use* any boosters yet. allow yourself the time to get used to the game and its mechanics. movement is important and you already do that quite skillfully. don't fret over attributes or item upgrades at this point. they don't really matter until you hit lv80. that is when the game really starts. it is also the time when the game expects you to know at least some of the mechanics. if you use a lv80 booster and suddenly find yourself fighting mobs on that level (even on starting maps) it could get very frustrating if you don't know what you're doing or have no clue how the game works. guardian is probably the best class to choose for a first-time player. it is virtually indestructable at this point and provides so many options to explore the game at your leisure. enjoy!

Just a simple advice... instead of selling armor and weapons salvidge them, u get mats from them u can use later for crafting. Salvidge kits u get as drops or can buy from npc's. Heart npc when u done the heart become merchants so u can buy stuff from them. No use of buying weapons or armore as it drops enough of them til u lvl up, but... some of the irems they sel r collectables (its says collectable in item description) for achievments. U might want to buy those so u dont need to go back for them later 😂. Ive done that mistake myself in the start 😂.

Open your hero panel with H. Go to the equipment tab. You can check what each stat does by hovering over the stat on the right side of the panel
@venny1689
@venny1689 7 ай бұрын
A breakdown of the stats, this will be important to know in the long run. Before anything else you should know there are two types of damage in this game. -Strike damage (also coloquially known as Power damage, Direct Damage, or Physical damage). All classes do this, even the magic casters. It's the main damage type, the one that on your tooltips reads as Damage: X. -The other type is Condition Damage which increases Damage over Time effects. DoT types are also the same between classes, and all classes can play DoT builds. These are indicated by the red icons in the tooltips, Guardian mostly focuses on Burning provided passively by your F1 virtue, for example, but other classes can also apply burning effects, like Fire Elementalists. So the stats are as follows: Offensive: -Power: Increases strike damage. Most DPS builds will want as much of this as possible. Strike damage builds will prioritize this, DoT builds can have it as a nice added bonus. -Precision: Increases critical chance. In this game it is possible to have permanent 100% crit chance. (At lvl 80, 21 points of precision will increase your crit by 1%) Most DPS builds will want as much of this as possible, even DoT builds, since a lot of traits later on trigger DoTs on critical hits. -Ferocity: Increases critical damage. Direct damage builds will want as much of this as possible. (At lvl 80, 15 points of Ferocity will increase your crit damage by 1%) -Condition Damage: Increases DoTs damage. DoT DPS builds will want as much of this as possible. -Expertise: Increases Condition duration. (At lvl 80, 15 points of Expertise will increase their duration by 1%. Conditions cannot go past 100% bonus duration, so double duration is their max length). Defensive / Support: -Vitality: Increases health by a flat 10 health for every point in vitality at lvl 80. -Toughness: Improves your damage reduction. In many encounters, whoever has the highest toughness is also often targetted as the tank. -Healing Power: Improves healing effects on a skill. -Concentration: Imcreases Boon duration. (1% per 15 points at lvl 80). Boons are your buffs, the oposite of conditions, beneficial effects for you and your allies. Likewise, it cannot go past 100% bonus duration. There is also a modifier called Outgoing Healing or Healing to Others, it doesn't have a proper stat, but there are a few traits and gear upgrades that can provide it. It increases healing to allies excluding yourself. This was created mostly from preventing healings from also being unkillable bunkers, but these modifeirs can stack up to be very strong if you ever are considering support builds.

To save you some time reading- nothing of the above really matters until lvl 80. Use stuff with power stats if you want to hit hard and equipment with condition stats if you want your conditions (bleedging eg.) to do more dmg. Thats about it.

There is no reason to hold off on selecting stats or equipping items in upgrade slots. These low level items sell for peanuts (you can always check on the trading post to see what they sell for if you are worried about using an item). The same goes for using karma at the heart vendors. You will eventually end up with millions of karma, so spending tiny amounts to buy trinkets (rings, accessories, etc.) at low levels is perfectly fine, particularly since those don't tend to drop very often. That being said, the core game is pretty easy and min-maxxing isn't necessary while leveling. You could easily just level with "Strong" stats (Power, Precision and later Ferocity, which is called Berserker stats with all three), although the Guardian is a bit squishy so some Vitality wouldn't hurt. My Necro has more hp than my Guardian. One thing about Toughness, it's more important in PvP/WvW than in PvE. In PvE many mobs base their aggro on the amount of Toughness a player has, so that is a factor depending on whether you want to tank or not. If you do a dungeon in a PUG group and you have Toughness on your gear, you are the tank regardless of what type of armor you wear or profession you are. Obviously, this doesn't matter when soloing. I don't know if others have mentioned, but selling on the TP (unless it is junk) is often better than to a vendor, even if you just use the instant sell option on the TP. And you can access the TP from anywhere (Black Lion icon in the upper left - same as the gem store). Edit: Adding a few more comments as I watch the video. Regarding the Wizard's Vault dailies - you can change the dailies and weeklies to PvE only if you want. The rewards are pretty great, so worth doing when possible. There are a few really good videos on youtube regarding optimal game settings. Some are subjective, but many are almost mandatory. The wiki for this game is amazing. You can access it by typing /wiki in chat. You can also shift-click the item rather than typing in the name. As others have mentioned, try out all the weapon combos that your profession can use while leveling. Mace/shield is pretty good as your weapon swap in case you need some crowd control. Two hand hammer is also a lot of fun. Or, putting a ranged weapon in your secondary set can be good in cases where it gets too hairy in melee. It gets really crazy when you get to elite specs and they are adding even more weapon combos for each profession. All of the starter zones for each race have World Boss events. In Queensdale, it's the Shadow Behemoth. You can check when it spawns on the wiki by typing in /wiki et for the Event Timers page.

Servers selection only matters for WvW. It’s basically all of North America or all of EU for PvE. You are most likely on the NA mega server. To see what server you are on check the selection at the lower left of the initial character selection screen.
