Ellen's Energy Adventure was what we referred to as "The Nap Ride" because it was so casual and uninvolved that my family and I could have a row to ourselves and relax in the dark and air conditioning for a good half hour before being thrust back into the Florida heat. There are so few places in the park to decompress for a few minutes that I feel it served it's purpose, however unintentionally. XD

Wait, Ellen’s Energy Adventure was 45 minutes long?? I absolutely LOVED that ride as a kid and I could’ve sworn it was like... 20 minutes tops! Yeah, the experience was about 45 minutes from start to finish in both the original and Ellen incarnations. The pre-show (8 minutes both), the first film (4 minutes/5 minutes), the dinosaurs (7 minutes both), the second film (12 minutes/ 14 minutes and the third film (2 mintues/3 minutes along with the loading process between the pre-show and the vehicles.

When I worked at Epcot, I used to tell people that if their kids needed a nap or if they needed a break in the AC while they figured out what to do for the afternoon/evening to go on that, lol. It was just long enough for little kids to get a power nap and parents to rest a while.

The wizard of bras store had a animatronic granny outside on the patio. That went to the haunted mansion to become another ghost, it was simply repainted white. You can see that animatronic in the mess of ghosts in either the living room or the graveyard scene I forgot which it was but it’s there. The giant T. rex from that weird show was taken apart and parts were used on the dinosaur ride while the rib cage was put into storage or the boneyard. The mighty microscope was used as b roll for some of the shots on star tours and you can notice it as it does look like a laser cannon if you really look.

The "Bathroom of Tomorrow" thing actually reminds me more of the old school MGM Cartoons and their "______ of Tomorrow" episodes. They had "The Cars of Tomorrow", "House of Tomorrow" (there actually was an attraction called 'House of Tomorrow' at the long-lost Space-age Nautical pleasure pier/amusement park known as Pacific Ocean Park or "P.O.P." and you rode through a model of what homes might look like in the future), "TVs of Tomorrow" etc there were several. Look them up. Pretty funny as well. I still like watching those episodes sometimes. I think that's more of a play off those which were out around the same time. Back then, they always had a fascination with "futuristic" things and what they thought it would or could look like. And if you're wondering about the link between MGM and Disney, MGM did help with animating a lot of Disney's older movies. In the very late 80s-early 90s, there was ALSO a point when Disney's Hollywood Studios at Disney World used to be called Disney-MGM Studios. So, there you have it.

I personally loved “Sounds Dangerous,” I was like 13 and it was the first year or two it was open so my judgement cannot be trusted, but I remember loving it. There were these booths outside of the main theater that you could wear headphones and experience 3D sound and I experienced the haircut. Years later I would be randomly recommended a haircut simulation on KZfaq and was immediately taken back to that moment at (then) MGM and discovered I love ASMR. The experience itself was really cool to me then, it was basically like a non-scary version of the ExtraTerrorestrial ride which was legitimately the scariest and most awesome defunct Disney experience!

Would actually really love a Disney underwear line, the possibilities and styles would have such a wide range appeal and more tha likely sell much better in todays ‘nostalgia’ consumer market than one would believe. You could actually even take the idea and broaden it to include boxers and even kiddy underoos (though I’m not certain how I’m sure there’s a large group of people who would call that inappropriate) accidents happen with children all the time in theme parks so having someplace you could go to buy and replace what was ruined would be handy and make the parks a lot of money.

The bathroom of tomorrow reminds me of the Vision House (a walk-through guided tour attraction in EPCOT’s Innoventions East building that talked about ways to make your home more environmentally friendly. I used to be one of the guides). The House had a toilet that cost $6000. It had heated seats, motion censors to lift the lid and seat, a bidet, and it played music that was personalized to each family member’s taste.

One thing you didn't mentioned about the Bathrooms of Tomorrow is that the toilets weren't actually functional, it was display only, which confused guests thinking that they were real working bath/restrooms (let's hope nobody actually tried to do their business in them, only to find them unable to flush, that would have been an embarressment, not to mention a big unconvienance for Disney having to clean up the shit literally).

Oh my gosh, I first went to Epcot when I was like 6 and didn't get back there until recently; I genuinely thought I had dreamt up that Ellen Degeneres / Bill Nye crossover ride! I don't remember much about it but I do remember loving it because I love Bill Nye, while having next to no idea who Ellen was. 🤣 And the 'Making of Me'! Pretty sure my dad didn't take me to the movie part (can you imagine), but I was definitely there because there's a picture of me behind a fake x-ray showing clothes hangers for ribs that 100% had to be in that pavilion, seeing the footage.

Ellen's Energy Adventure was my second favorite ride at the park since I was a kid. Right behind Spaceship Earth. I don't really care that Guardians of the Galaxy may end up being more popular (even though I love the movies/characters) as to me: losing that ride was really the final nail in the coffin of what originally made Epcot my favorite theme park of the 4. I have always loved its blend of fun, education, and aim for what the future will bring us. To me it was a bigger and more well thought out Tomorrowland. Now it's just turning into Magic Kingdom 3, much like the loss of MGM Studios' original theme made it...WDW is in a sad state to me for that reason. The care of theming that went into it has been replaced with "how many IPs can we fit into this park?" instead.

I came here to relive the fever dream I thought I had regarding the Epcot dinosaur, I really didn't know it was real, only to be totally depressed over learning the boardwalk clown was removed. It may have been horrifying to me for years as a child, but it was iconic. Truly fitting in the area, and if that is really the mural they choose to replace it: it will not fit the circus area at all...which is equally upsetting. : / It would have been better to just make it an old timey bridge with circus elements on it...

Adventures through inner space is also featured on an episode of Defunctland, which I recommend everyone who hasn’t checked that channel out i definitely recommend doing so. With that said *SPOILER* Monsanto actually pulled out of the sponsorship deal because they were in deep trouble when it was discovered that they had not only been the producer of Agent Orange (one of the deadliest herbicides used in the Vietnam War) but also had a hand in developing the first nuclear weapons, which would later be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Disney's capacity for using celebrities no one would ever want to see in a theme park attraction (or, at least, not in the attraction they've been hired for) never ceases to amaze me. "Want to take a limo tour of Hollywood? Look, there's Cindy Crawford and Whoopi Goldberg! Want to learn about energy? Here's Ellen DeGeneres and Jamie Lee Curtis! Want a meaningless, mostly pitch black attraction about a security guard looking for stolen snow globes? Drew Carey is on the job (fresh off his Superstar Limo appearance)! Wondering how babies are made? Ladies and gentlemen, Martin Short!" WTF?!?

They killed the fountains? Aaw. This was a classic midway entry anchor. Seriously. Epcot has a temperature-based hot entry. They wanted to get rid of a temperature regulator in the entry? Okay. Then add lots of trees. Or funnel everyone into the side-sponsored ice display at the start of Epcot. Oh, right, they already do for the sponsorship. Seriously, Disney, did the maintenance of a dancing fountain cost all that much to maintain? It was worth a pause and a good reset for the entry to the park. Personally, I'd like them to kill the geodesic dome acting as a constant advertisement. I'm fine with sponsorship, but when the sponsor gets a sign for every 5th element in the attraction, then that's when sponsorship goes too far. That's when I raise a middle finger not just to the sponsor, but to the park I paid good money to attend. Never again to Spaceship Earth. Sponsorship gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling except when they hit me with a billboard for every 5th element in a diorama ride.

a lot of people still don't know that EPCOT means Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, and it was originally planned to be an actual living, functioning community on Disney property, including space-age technology, electric transportation, and other "far out" concepts that had never been tried before. that idea was quickly scrapped as everyone else at Disney Inc realized there's a lot more money in selling cheap plastic junk than in visions of a better, cleaner, friendlier community. and guess what? they were right 🙄
