Don’t forget the oil dilution problem with the first few years of 2.0 diesel Ingenium engined cars (about 2016-2019 I think). Needs oil changes every few thousand miles and causes early wear and engine failures including timing chain issues.

I have owned a 2011 super early diesel, land rover dealer service for first 3 years(expensive and bad terrible service where i live) then a good mechanic serviced regular from then. short journeys and low mileage. just had the 10 year all oil and timing belt done. the only problem i have had is a issue with the interior lights not working properly, oh and a oil leak from a pipe, pipe just needed changing. oh its a manual so i guess the clutch will need changing soon at some point.

We're run a 2016 Evoque diesel since new. Main dealer serviced. Repairs: new battery, new front and passenger door central locking mechanism, new tyres, new windscreen after original leaked (Land Rover contributed £300 to £900 cost). No DPF problem despite lots of short journeys.

15k average cost? Hmm if they really paid that, they want their heads examined. My Range Rover V8 suffered premature turbo failure which completely took out the engine. It cost less than 6k for the full engine rebuild, with new cranks, new turbo's etc etc etc. How on earth can a poxy 4 cylinder single turbo engine possibly cost 15k @@dazzassti

Great video, thanks a million! It really helps. Can we deduce that Evoques produced 2020 onwards are safe purchases or at least more reliable than 2015-2018 ones? Thanks again

Many thanks, as another comment on the video mentioned, there is now a recall open for steering wheel bolts on all model years that is worth checking for 👍

Don't forget the power steering rack recall that affects many 2017 built cars and all built before. OEM pads, certainly rear, are absolutely terrible. They wear astonishingly quickly. Oil dilution doesn't happen to the 2.2 diesels, so do not need an extra oil change. Rust starts at the back of the rear door opening where dirt sits under the plastic trim on 5 door cars. First you'll notice without taking the trim off is when the rust spreads across the panel. 3 doors will rust underneath in the same place but in theory it's harder to detect. Surprisingly they can break springs quite easily even in road use. £250-300 to repair. Gearbox oil change at 10th service makes a surprising difference, worth doing more frequently for smoother driving even if no actual need. Steering wheel buttons, like the XJ that shares the same part, fail after a while. Avoid the OEM towbar and fit a TowTrust for a truly invisible cut.

Some great information, thanks for adding. Do you know the recall campaign number for the steering rack, we could only find one for the bolt with the rack being replaced if damaged and wondering if we are talking about the same thing or two separate recalls 👍
@jameswalker7874
@jameswalker7874 Жыл бұрын
@@themilesdriven The recall is to have the 3 bolts replaced that are prone to snapping, seems to be no correlation between age and whether the bolts will snap at removal though. Could be down to mechanic's skill. Think they're at N642v5 now.

I was looking into buying a used Evoque, it seems to be too much of a coin toss that could add thousands in repair costs which would cancel out any feelings of a good buy. That one post by Firas Abuelawn of having to pay more than $10K US to replace the differential would turn any great deal into a horrendous mistake.

NEVER own a Land Rover vehicle without a warranty! My 2019 Evoque differential started groaning at 58K! I'm nursing it and currently at 76K. 🤞 I bought it used with 12K at half price and absolutely love it, but I will never buy a Land Rover again!

I got SI4 2013, I got turbo issue at 120000km, looks like a common issue with Evoque. I also started getting noise from front differential, dealer recommended replacing the front diff, total bill for turbo and diff $16k AUD😢. I owned the vehicle since I bought it new in 2013 and always maintained it with the dealer.

Yeah- had the turbo/exhaust manifold crack at 57K miles on my ‘16. Expensive to replace. Now my HVAC system is doing something strange. Having difficulty switching between vents- and the airflow is much reduced. Does the Evoque have two blower fans, and maybe one of mine is kaput?

Depending on your home country recalls are either on an online database that requires the VIN, this is usually the website of your vehicle registration and licensing agency, or your local dealership can advise if there are any outstanding recalls 👍

A bit confused by this comment. Have you looked at the other videos on our channel? We have lots of videos on BMWs and Mercedes and other manufacturers, and we are not picking holes, we spend hours researching the details of every car we do a video on and we report exactly the same style for each video… also look at our videos and you’ll see my own Range Rover so I’m certainly not ‘picking’ on the brand.
