Hi again guys. Im that lady who works at a department store and it’s my only job. Outside of work im not “busy”, and people are like wow!!! You are living the life. Then others say im lazy. Truth be told, im very organized and focused at work. I work at a steady pace. Im also an introvert and a homebody. I like quiet time, and u know what, if people think it’s weird, so be it!!

In my early 20s, I saw my friends hustling while studying - participating in various things and attending classes. At work, I saw them having side hustle to make more money. And someone at work asked me what is your secondary passion - something you do as a side hustle. That was the trigger to really understand do I want to be a part of this hustle culture? Am I not doing enough? Am I not comfortable? Now when I look at myself 4 years ago, I am happy I did not push myself to become a part of the 'Hustle Culture' because that is not me. I would rather be earning less money or not have anything to brag about experiences than lose my chance to be with myself, do things I like - spending time with my family, have a meal and focus on just having that meal or tea. no phone, no emails and no POA for the day. Just the meal.

Sometimes I put stuff in my shopping cart, walk around for 40 min, and then realize the “new item excitement” is already gone and I don’t even want it anymore. For online, I remove my credit card details so I have it put them in manually each time, giving enough time to think about the purchase. I’ve saved thousands and haven’t bought online in a couple years. Even with COVID I just don’t shop online anymore.

I used to think "being busy" meant that I was needed. ...that I was of value, worth. It's a deep-rooted Midwestern concept to spend every waking hour working---whether you're getting paid or not. The motto is: "If you got time to rest, you got time to work." I averaged 3-5 hours of sleep, 7 days a week for nearly 20-years. This isn't sustainable. It wasn't. My health was sacrificed; and now, I'm permanently disabled. We have to get off the hamster wheel known as the rat race. Nothing wrong with working hard to sustain ourselves; reach our goals; but, we should be afforded time to rest and enjoy our family and personal interests. The one and only thing we can't get back is time.

Being in a work place with people that don’t even take a lunch break..so annoying.. I must stop and enjoy my meal and recharge and finish out my shift ..Why people think it’s important to burn yourself out to make brownie points..They set the tone for a toxic work place..
@palakagarwala
@palakagarwala 2 жыл бұрын
I have noticed this more among women at my workplace. Since they have adapted to this habit of constantly proving their worth and not knowing how to say ‘no’ or asking to take a break. It stems from the fear that if they don’t show they are working hard they will not be in position for appraisal.

As someone who has never truly been motivated or even had a goal for myself. All of this talk about this mindset is extremely foreign to me I don’t relate to this at all but even I can see how important it is to others truly shows how difficult being busy is and why it scares me so much. I don’t think I could ever try and be this busy/successful. But then again I think that’s just my child self being scared of how big this world is and all the possibilities that I can truly succeed and have a life that I want. I’m living like I thought I be when I was a kid but not how I wanted to live. I still have time so hopefully I can get my shit together and be something /someone. I just have no passion for anything I don’t know how or why I don’t I’m already 23 but I know I want to have passion and be motivated for something I just don’t know what

But I feel a lot of hustlers are minimalists. I think the positive message is enjoy your work and the process. It should not be an addiction. Finding pleasures outside of work is honestly a worser addiction. Which Many stuck in corporate jobs do that and don't seem to grasp minimalism. And hustling isn't a bad thing. You need to obtain financial freedom for yourself and your family. And freedom is the higher pursuit I believe in a spiritual sense The only issues with hustling I would say is when it becomes a signalling thing. And unfortunately Many use social media for signalling. I guess the old addage is true Your only competition should be yourself.

When I say, "I'm busy," it's because I don't want someone thrusting unwanted obligations on me and I'm being polite about it. I've learned from experience that too many people respond to a more detailed answer by trying to manage my time for me (how arrogant). So I just leave them with, "I'm busy," and leave it at that.

Gary Vee needs to take a chill pill. So much “just hustle” so little “real advice”. He can get me hyped up, but like energy drinks it’s empty motivation that dies as soon as the video stops. I think he’s misdirecting a lot of young kids into thinking they can make it buying and selling flea market items. He doesn’t explain how to hustle aside from the basic “I’m broke and need money now” last resort before you phone is turned off. Way to many people are listening to his rhetoric and blowing their life savings on business plans that don’t work. Or non existent business plans. The audience hears “if you just hustle 23 hours a day you’ll eventually make it”… it doesn’t work that way. He teaches work hard instead of work smart. And we all know it’s better to work smart than work hard. It’s plainly obvious that if your too tired you can’t focus. Your way better focusing hard for 4 hours than focusing on no sleep for 20. The sleep debt adds up and then you get burnout. You need to rest and get enough of it, period. You can’t just skip sleep.. “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”… well your going to die a lot sooner if you don’t rest and take care of your health.

"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure, hidden in a field, that a person found and hid. Then because of joy he went and sold all that he had and bought that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. 46 When he found a pearl of great value, he went out and sold everything he had and bought it." Matthew 13:44-46. Some Historians believe Julius Caesar invaded Britain in 55 BC over their freshwater pearls. This would indicate that pearls were of much greater value at the time of Jesus than they are today. Jesus' point, in my opinion, is that an eternal relationship with God should be our most valuable possession, and we should be willing to give up everything, including our own lives, if necessary, in order to have it.

Then this parable becomes so radical. In a place and time when security, food, health, family life, and money were so hard to come by - Jesus is telling the people, you will never have peace if you hold on tighter to the things in your life. Finding Jesus, isn’t enough to bring peace into your life. You have to choose to let go of everything you trusted for security and validation and future - in order to go all in for the One piece of eternity you found in this earth.
