I am really considering getting sister locs bc I like small braids and twists in my hair and i do not do my hair. I don't do it all. I just twisted my hair after weeks of it being in a nappy fro and u didn't even comb it out. I just twisted it. At this point my entire house is like why don't you get dreads since you hate your hair. I don't hate my hair I just don't have the energy to mess with it and I never leave my house, so i don't feel the need to do anything to it. But i want it to look good I just can't do it myself. I'm wore out

Hi goodnight sister. I want to colour my hair. I'm 2 years in July. I use to do henna on my loose hair and its been over 2 years since I did that. My grey is now too much and would like a change, my consultant as no recommendations and says my locs are mature enough but the colour will weaken my locs. I would like some help or recommendations before I go ahead. Can I still henna or is there one I can use at home that is safe?... Please help me. Thanks in advance.

It's best to listen to your consultant since she knows your hair best, not someone on KZfaq who don't know you or the condition of your hair!!!!

Hi, if you're only using pure, natural henna, then you should be okay because pure henna is not a chemical. It doesn't penetrate the hair strands, it just stains the hair. Therefore, it won't weak your locs or alter the structure or texture of your hair strands like other colors do. I completely understand where Beverly F is coming from. Your consultant knows best but if she's not a colorist or cosmetologist, then she can't advise you. I am sharing from a cosmetologist POV. If you've been using henna in the past before locking and haven't done any chemical treatments since locking your hair, then you can use henna without issues. Hope this helped.

@@bf1822 What condition can a person almost 2 years loc'd be in to not be able to use pure henna? My consultant did say it's mature enough but colour would weaken it...she obviously doesn't know about using henna and a versed cosmetologist would know henna also once pure will naturally strengthen the hair and I was a loose natural hair as I i mentioned, so my hair would be in its strongest state unprocessed and I also stated I had been using it before loc'd....her suggestion/ recommendation is correct in all sense. She did also speak on what you said consultant knowing the hair bit from my experience if your consultant is not versed on hair as a cosmotagist would. They may not truly know anything like coloring but that they can tell the hair is mature and was thought how to interlock it. I'm thankful for the advise.

@@bf1822 Her advise is from a place of lack of knowledge in regards to color, she did however let me know my hair Is mature enough. If she knew about henna she would know it does not weaken natural hair. She spoke on the condition but cannot give recommendations because she is not a color specialist . Not all consultants are versed in these things so you can get outside opinion. Henna is a natural die and a versed consultant on colour can give a general recommendation if its a pure henna and the fact she mentioned 'pure' should have been a indicator she knows what she is talking about but because I've used it before I'm sure she does. I just wanted to know about it with locs. Thanks En toi

Yes, as long you have at least 1.5 inch of hair, you can start your loc journey. I am in Snellville GA. Cost is determine on length of hair, size of locs, density, etc. That is determine at consultation.

I had to go back and take another look & smile. Why suddenly my hair appears to stop growing 😢. With my hair so fine & short, six months wait for growth seems like forever. Yes I hear hair needs to be only 1.1/2 inch but I don’t want it to unravel as it’s fine hair. Oh well, the look and wait goes on 😊

Yes, when it's soft and fine, you want to start longer so it doesn't slip
