It’s tough to hear people who I know love music expose how much they don’t know music . They speak on conscious rap with the limited capacity of a white soccer mom . Conscious just means aware , with that, it’s substantive . NWA was conscious , so was Public Enemy , Nas , Scarface , OutKast , Early Kanye West… what y’all are discussing is a “Sound” (Boom Bap) . Mos Def still made “Ms Fat Booty” , Common Still made “The Light” , Q Tip made Vivrant Thing .. any “Aware” music is conscious . It’s that same pigeon hold instinct that had “Neo Soul” , distinct from R&B Soul , from Contemporary R&B etc … it’s about the “Sonics” distracting you and not the meaning of what is being sang about .

Being a "conscious rapper" does not mean you're a square, a dweeb or a goodie goodie. Being a conscious rapper means you're aware of your message and the influence of your words, and you spit with the purpose to have content that will teach, elevate, provoke thought, inspire. You can be gritty & grimey, but you're intentional about being positive & not degrading your target audience/your people, or at least providing balance. Many still consider and understand Styles P to be a conscious rapper becuz he offers balance. We are imperfect being. We all do good and bad, but u wanna do more good than bad. Styles will beat up, shoot up, smoke up, curse out....all kinda shit in his bars or even in life, but he also promotes physical and mental health, love & family, community & brotherhood, cutural/ethnic pride, ownership & entrepreneurship...that is in fact a conscious rapper...not careless with what they put into the world, so yes, Cordae, Larussel, ect., would still be conscious rappers, just not the stereotypical image on the bean pie eating, kente cloth wearing, my brotha, my nubian queen, image people tend to define it as.

Love Alex and respect what his experiences through life but this isn’t the first time Logic had talked about his father. Logic just wants his father to stop being a crackhead and treat him like a son. Logic feels like his father treats him like a mark.

I’m not gonna lie @ 1:35:46 the part about logic was a little hard to listen to cause I’m familiar with the clip going around, it’s a small part of his podcast in which that episode he had his father on. They spoke about many things from trauma, triumphs, celebrating life and new beginnings. He even mentioned how they spoke before the podcast on their boundaries. For over 10 years + in his music he’s expressed his relationship with his father. And just in that moment logic who is also a new father of two was feeling the weight of picturing his kids going through that trauma (sorry for the essay😂)

The only person that would make sense to go up against Usher even tho he would lose is Justin Timberlake. They have more parallels career and music wise. Verzuz are usually counterparts going against one another and Usher is more comparable to JT than Chris Brown. Music and dancing is more similar, more or less the same longevity and era. That being said, Usher would smoke him.
