Sorry this one took a bit. I had some computer issues, busy at the day job and the heat's been awful.
Here is The Cell, directed by Tarsem and stars JLo.

one of the only problems is that this movie was made in 2000 when directors were super stoked to use 3D renderings and CGI in movies because it was new tech that had a ton of potential. they were just a little too early of adopters for things like this. it's not that bad in this movie but a few things probably should have been practical vfx. if there was a way for the Demon King scene with the purple cape on the wall to have been done practically, it would be 1000000% more insane. some other stuff is just pure surrealist so a bit of uncanny CGI fine.

I will never forget this film, and have no desire to watch it twice. There was one particular scene where people are watching an execution tape. There's a woman slowly drowning in a glass cell and she starts crying pathetically for her mother. The gore of this film was manageable, but that part deeply disturbed me. Too real.

I know some people give this movie grief--I've personally never seen it--but you can't say Tarsem doesn't know how to create incredible visuals and worlds. Despite reviews, I liked this movie. Mainly, the visuals, costumes and music. (The costumes were designed by Award-winning Eiko Ishioka, the same woman who designed the costumes in Bram Stoker's Dracula, and it shows!) Jennifer and Vincent's acting were excellent. (Vaughn was...meh) The plot is basically an edgier Silence of the Lambs. They're almost exactly alike! But overall, I know the plot is kind of ridiculous, but it had potential, though! Kind of a let-down. The director should stick to music videos, because the "operatic" visuals and sets are badass. Your jokes are all on-point, that's why I subbed. Love all the references, too. I busted out laughing most right here: 8:31 I dunno why. 😂 Great video! Keep it up, Bee!

@heatherwhitmer5007 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrTrombonebandgeek I see what your saying, but I personally don't think the Cell qualifies as a film you need to dissect. Like NewBee said, there's nothing subtle about this film; in fact it screams its meanings at you at the top of its lungs. "Style over Substance" does not mean you can't be picky about the style. It's like choosing between a poster of pop-art Harley Quinn of a poster of Picasso's Guernica. They're both just posters, but do you want a trendy cash grab that appeals to it's fanbase, or something artsier. Depends on the person.

Hi I'm a new subscriber and already watched quite a few of your videos, I love your reviews and you're funny too! This was always one of my favorite movies as a child. I'm not sure if it's nostalgia or what but the visuals are amazing, the serial killer story has been done before but not quite the way that they depicted it in this movie, I often found myself somewhat sympathetic to him but also disgusted. The ability to be inside a killer's mind I think anyone who's interested in true crime. Also I thought Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Lopez had really good chemistry and Vincent D'Onofrio played a fantastically twisted killer. Thanks for reviewing this I recently just watched this myself. :)

Emma Dalton it’s really good. Especially if you appreciate gorgeous movies and like things like true crime.

Just FYI: the dog used in this is not an albino. It has a black nose. I had a white German Shepherd growing up but have friends who breed them. It’s recessive, but not an albino.

Gotta tell ya, I don’t like gory, bloody, torture, etc, movies, and shy away from watching them. However, your reviews about these movies is total entertainment! Love watching them - your comments crack me up!!!!!

This was the most trippiest film, I’ve ever seen, as it was interesting, in a shocking, bizarre, yet beautiful, in an acceptable, kind of way.

As someone who does plumbing on a regular basis that toilet would have meant that room would never be able to fill with water
