@Aaron Lassiter Boris Niewald (later becoming Alexander Koehler, the nuclear reactor CEO) used the gun to shoot Tannhaeuser in 1986. Thats why Tannhaeuser never appeared in a later timeline. This is shown in episode 3.6 when Boris shows the newspaper article to Bartosz. Pause and read the newspaper article. The sidebar article is a police report telling us exactly this. It's a nice hidden easter egg :-)

9:26 Exactly! That's why Adam stood completely calm in front of Noah's gunpoint. He knew he couldn't die on that moment because he rememberd himself 66 years ago killing Martha in front of his teenage self, and since he hadn't done it yet, he was completely sure that Noah can't kill him at that moment.

28:24 Yes indeed. They did outfit the sets with reversed props. For example Magnus tattoos are all in reverse. If you look back at 3x01 in the kitchen scene Jördis Triebel (as alt-Katharina) had to cut the vegetables with her left hand and Lisa Viscari (Martha) had to spread butter and jelly on her croissant with her left. Even the cars you see in season three in Eva's world are right hand-drives. I guess Leopold Hornung had a little bit easier than most other actors. He has not so many appearances in Eva's world overall ans he had to do everything with his left hand like the others but since his character was missing his left arm he had not to train himself to not accidentally do stuff with his right hand at all.

I still do not unserstand why people claim that being surprised in this episode was the only valid way to "react" or rather watch this show. The family tree is fairly visible in 4 shots across 3 different episodes. Yet this group insists that people have to be surprised about the family relations at this point in the show. I guess this stems from the fact that the average US American tv show has trained the audience to only believe what is explicitly called out in dialogue. They often contradict themselves in written documents and the like because they either keep rewriting their plotlines and/or they do not put effort inot their props. Sometimes they even show some occurence on screen and yet it is not meant to be interpreted until a character confirms it verbally. That and these folks having a toxic misinterpretation of what spoils the fun in watching a show... I mean would you never rewatch DARK just because you now know these things? There is no surprise left so it has to be spoiled per that flawed definition. There is not much logic behind these claims.
@michaelklaus

33:47 The thing here is that Schrödinger's intent was to show that the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics could not be valid for macroscopic objects (like cats). Because the cat cannot be alive and dead at the same time... yet variations of the experiment (with photons and without dead cats) have only led to the conclusion that it is valid for macroscopic objects. This point, where the cat is alive and dead or the quant has two differnet states at once is called superposition. So it is rather weird that Eva dropped the term quantum entanglement in Licht und Schatten while she was supposed to explain to her younger self how Jonas was alive and dead at the same time. Coherent quantum superposition of the macroscopic objects Martha and Jonas is the answer. Aaand it is the answer to the part of the family tree that you did not understand yet. The Unknown is the father of Tronte in both worlds. Once you already reached the point where you see the characters as macroscopic objects it is a simple conclusion to also see the quantum entanglement in the show.

10:23 That signature Noah synthesizer sound coming in when she says "Hanno" 😉 They dropped lots of hins about Noah's real name, for example when Greta Doppler and Doris Tiedemann talked to Egon about the missing priest Hanno Tauber (Hanno is sort of an anagram of Noah). But you got it in the end. We might have thought Hannah's unrequited love for Ulrich was her downfall, but it was worse. Travelling further and further into the past to find happiness, she arrives in 1911, and ends up being killed by her own son who has discarded all emotion and is now known as Adam. 😶 He says they are wrong there, and has no further use for Hannah. Only Silja is sent into the future to do her part. It was also middle-aged Jonas who saved Hannah from killing herself with Boris Niewald's gun, the same gun which Noah got killed with later. First Noah tried to kill Adam with it, but it wouldn't fire (because Adam's future already existed). Agnes took the gun and killed Noah no problem, because Noah's future doesn't exist. Yes, we see Noah in way later time periods, but only because he time-travelled there when he was a bit younger than the age of his death, which happened in 1921. As we see in this episode, Noah was born in 1904 as the son of Bartosz and Silja, which would've made him only 17 years old at the date of his death, had he not time-travelled a lot and spent part of his life all kinds of time periods. We see that he must be in his 40s at least. But we never see an old version of him, because he was killed before he could grow any older. Noah had been heavily manipulated by Adam. All Noah wanted was to find his daughter again, which was kid- and mothernapped in the post-apocalyptic future. Then he wanted to escape this world together with his loved ones and enter some kind of paradise, like the biblical Noah, surviving the flood on the ark. Everything bad he did in this world then wouldn't mean anything anymore, at least this is what middle-aged Jonas and Adam always kept telling him. To build his ark, Noah first had to perfect the prototype. He needed guinea pigs for the time machine chair, and he needed a willing helper. Brainwashing Helge and using the kids were unfortunate, yet necessary chess moves in order to achieve the ultimate goal, so Noah thought. But when he discovered the missing pages of the notebook, he finally realized that Adam had been lying to him all along. Adam knew that Charlotte was his daughter, and Adam basically had her kidnapped and brought to H.G. Wells, err Tannhaus. Adam didn't want to save anyone. Adam wanted total annihilation as a way out, as a way to break the cycle, by any means necessary, so he manipulated everyone around him. Paradise was a lie all along.

Schrödinger's Cat Simplified: - A cat is in a box. - The box also has a poison bottle. - That bottle may open and kill the cat, or remain closed and not kill the cat. - There's a switch that opens the poison bottle. It's a radioactive material that can either degrade and open the bottle or remain normal and the bottle remains closed. - Quantum mechanics says that if no one is observing the radioactive material, then it exists in both states at the same time, degraded and normal. - So, if no one is observing the box, the bottle is both open and close, which means the cat is both alive and dead.

4:43 "I always had a feeling that what i was doing yesterday is happening right now" That's called eternalism...Basically, according to this philosophy - basically everything is happening right now and - The beginning of the universe, the Prehistoric times, Antiquity, Medieval times, XIXth century, WWI, WWII, present, you sitting on the sofa, and the entire future, including the end of the universe... Is happening right now... And the flow of time that we fill...Is basically just an illusion yes, if this idea is true, then this means that RIGHT now we all are being born and we are dying of old age (or sickness)....All in this same time... (I know that this sounds fu**ed up) Yes, this also means, that people like Albert einstein, Amadeus Mozart, Freddie Mercury, Plato, Ludwig Van Beethoven and all the famous people in history who are now "dead"....Are all technically still alive right now... They Just in a different point of time, and we just can't interact with them, hear them, or see them... In opposition to Eternalism, there is a Presentism...It basically says that the neither the Past nor the future exist, and the only thing that exist is the present...

I know exactly how. On Blind Wave, Eric was the only one trying to follow what the show was telling him, but he never seemed to be able to express his thoughts coherently. Then Aaron would come in off the top rope and just send every conversation in the wrong direction. Also, when they didn’t believe Jonas was Adam, it was all downhill. The Aaron of this reaction(Nikki), even through all her yelling and nonsense, was never able to fully knock the other two off track. Too often Suraj would let Nikki try pulling him underwater with her, but by next episode he would kick her off him and find the thread again.

About Noah going back, great answer (this is not mine) : Noah & Elizabeth loses their baby somewhere between 2040 & 2052. Noah fights with Jonas and promises Elizabeth that he will find Charlotte (their baby) at any cost. But at that moment, the cave was destroyed, the time machine was useless & the god particle hadn’t developed yet. Claudia had the time travel device from Claudia (World 2) but she hid it and used it for her own purpose. Note, this is important: Noah never trusted Claudia between 2020 to 2052 and asked Jonas not to trust her as well. But, Jonas only listened to Claudia at that time since she was the only one who would help them get out of there. Now, in 2052, somehow Claudia manages to stabilize the god particle to allow time travel. However, initially the portal only allowed people to travel in counts of 33 years forward or backward. So, Jonas (adult) & Claudia (old) takes on their roles in guiding their younger selves. Now, Noah’s first priority was to find his daughter after waiting for more than 10 years. He uses the portal to travel back to 1920 (2052-33-33-33-33=1920) to confront Adam, as to why he took Charlotte. He leaves Elizabeth behind, in 2052, to safeguard the portal, while she waits for Noah to return back with their baby. That’s why on Season 2 Episode 1, Elizabeth was so adamant in keeping people out of the power plant, away from the active god particle. Noah walks into the bar in 1920, where he meets Erne for accommodation. In the process, he meets his younger self for the first time in the loop. Then, probably on the next day, he is furious and eventually confronts Adam. Now Adam, calmly says to Noah, that Claudia had indeed lied to them both (referring to the important note mentioned above) during the time period of 2020 to 2052, tricking Noah into thinking that it was all Claudia’s fault. And thus begins Noah’s journey into a crucial & ruthless member of Sic Mundus Creatus Est.

I've seen this show so many times and still has my brain boiling with new realizations every time. I just realized Martha, Magnus and Mikkel all have their names starting with an M. Do 3 M have any kind of meaning? Since it feels like there is zero coincidences in this show, I wonder.

This is the best episode of the show. I remember watching this series for the first time and trying to piece everything together within the 33 year time gaps and thinking "but there's SO much between those moments where big things must happen!" and, lo and behold, we get this masterpiece. The montage at the end is perfection, it's probably the moment I've rewatched the most.

Eva definitely knew that was not her world's Claudia, she knows there's only one in the "future" and [SPOILERS] she knows Claudia is the one that explains everything to Adam and brings him to her world to kill her. Eva is the one who controls everything until Claudia truly outsmarts her, not by working "udercover" but by figuring out how to end the knot once and for all
