As a beginner I find it helps to pause and double check where the thumb is to see whether its a palmar (front) or dorsal (back) side of the hand, it does change without warning several times

Urgh this is why I’m so scared to do this surgery! I fractured my proximal phalanx of my pinky at the base about a year ago. It healed with a malunion and malrotation. Breaks my heart the first two surgeons I saw elected not to do any percacious pinning. Now a year later. To cut in there l, resaw through bone just to correct the rotation seems insane to me with all those tendons. I can still play guitar but nowhere near as good as I used to because of the rotation. Makes certain chord shapes near impossible. I’ve heard the warning from other surgeons that it could be more stiff and more problems then if they go in there. I found a pretty competent surgeon. But I guess there’s always a risk

Thanks but I have a question if the abductor pollicis brevis abducts the thumb why it’s in the middle and not on the lateral side shouldn’t the opponens be the abductor because it’s more laterally placed so it will move the thumb further away from the body

Thank you so much sir for the amazing video. But may I ask, what the palmaris brevis muscles is there a reason for it not to be included in this video?
@TheNotedAnatomist
@TheNotedAnatomist 7 жыл бұрын
When i create a video tutorial i try to strike a balance between presenting enough anatomy to cover the clinical relevance of a topic but not too much anatomy that the student loses the forest from the trees. As such, i didn't think palmaris brevis muscle was relevant enough to cover. Does that make sense?
@xempty1x
@xempty1x 7 жыл бұрын
and this is exactly why your channel became my recent all time favorite anatomy channel, anatomy never been this easy to digest! But regarding the palmaris muscles I was curious about it since it's considered one of the hand muscles in all of my anatomy resources, thus I thought there could've been a reason for excluding it in this video. Thank you for you quick response :)
@TheNotedAnatomist
@TheNotedAnatomist 7 жыл бұрын
+xempty1x thanks very much ... I am happy they are of help in your studies. The function of the palmaris brevis is simply to tighten the skin in the palm of the hand.
