Actually, the flag code states that it should not be flown that way "except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property." In other words, if you see one you should call the cops. Using it any other way except during a protest when its symbolic use is obvious risks people not taking it seriously when they should, when someone is actually flying it as a signal.

US Constitution, 1st Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion..." 'Establishment' means to make official. In other words, Congress cannot create any law 'establishing' a specific religion as the official religion of the nation. The Constitution *does not* say that the Supreme Court cannot do so. So, through judicial verbal gymnastic SCOTUS is free to 'find' anything they wish regarding how *their* religious beliefs are they only 'correct' beliefs and and impose those beliefs in the nation as a whole through judicial fiat. Congratulations, you have discovered one of the gaping loopholes in the Constitution big enough to drive a coup through.

The drafters had seen sectarianism between branches of Christianity and did not want any one religion or branch thereof to dictate to everyone else how to live and worship. Do you have any idea where that would lead? Yes the democrats will talk a big game just like they do about the filibuster but the will never make a move to do so. And for very real reasoning. Lets start with the filibuster both parties know at some point they will be in the minority. And why would they change the only weapon the minority has in the Senate. No they wil speak and huff and puff doe the cameras but they in their one self interest never touch the filibusterer. Now as to adding Justices same reasoning. If the Party in power gets the votes to add 2 then when the party on power changes another 2 will be added and then 2 more at the next chance on power. See where that will lead. I do not give dems and most republicans all that much credit in the IQ but I do think that they understand just where this would lead.

You know the real irony is that the "appeal to heaven" line comes not from a religious text but Locke's 2nd thesis on Government which among other things lays out the argument for separation of church and state and is believed to be the first argument for religious freedom written by an essayist by a member of a majority religion rather than one being persecuted. what's really sad is that few on either side will read the source document involved.

I used to work with a bunch of guys some forty years ago and one of the white guys I worked with made a startling statement to me and the black member of our group. He said that racism was long gone and it ended in the 1960's; just like that, poof, it was gone. So I asked him if he would like to have the money that Reggie Jackson had from his baseball contract and he said yes, and he was quick to point out that Reggie was black (we all knew that) and because he was rich there was no racism. So I then said to him, "If I had the power to give that to you, would you be willing to take his skin color as well?" He said no. Well now, why would that be? No racism my a$$.

I think 5 Justices chose to aid and comfort the insurrection. They are the ones that co-wrote the decision that says there needs to be legislation to implement the 14th. Of course at the time they wrote the decision they weren't Justice's, because no further legislation is needed.
