Corlys is the Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, and head of House Velaryon. His house is also the richest in the entire 7 Kingdoms at that time. He has more power at the council than any of them besides Rhaenyra. That guy knew to shut his damn mouth when Corlys entered the conversation.

Regarding your question as to why the council shut up when Corlys entered but didn't when Rhaenys or even Jace demanded it (9:42): The show did a pretty bad job at showing what a man Corlys actually is. The Velaryons became one of the wealthiest houses (if not THE wealthiest) under his rule, they have the largest fleet and Corlys himself went on a lot of adventures to lands that no one has ever seen before or everyone died when they went there. But Corlys survived it all and brought home some of the greatest treasure ever and therefore he is considered one of the greatest sailors of all time. That's why everyone has enormous respect for him. You can compare it a bit to Tywin from Game of Thrones in terms of respect. No one dared to challenge Tywins authority because of what he achieved during his life and the same is the case for Corlys here

There is currently one other series in production. The working title is, "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms," and it follows the travels and adventures of a young Hedge Knight called Dunk, short for Duncan, and his loyal squire, Egg, short for Aegon, as in Targaryen. The only other person who knows that Egg is secretly a young Targaryen prince is his father, Prince Maekar. Their story is a mirror of Brienne and Podrick's story. In fact, Duncan is Brienne's great-grandfather and Hodor's grandfather.

rhaeneys attacked in the hopes of injuring vagar in hopes another black dragon can finish her off. (Meleys is one of the oldest and strongest dragons) or kill her or maybe kill aemond so vhagar would be riderless and out of the picture, she is more experienced at the end of the day Meleys was too injured to have made it very far & Rhaenys would have never abandoned Meleys even for the sake of her own safety. That last look they gave before turning back to fight Vhaegar again was a mutual acknowledgement they were going down together. Makes that whole moment that much more heartbreaking. Also abandoning their Ally wouldn't leave a good message about rhaneyras claim

Rhaenys was a true Targaryen warrior. Can tell she was blood of the dragon and if her father had lived she would of made a wonderful queen. Meleys looking back at rhaenys right before she died had me sobbing for 10 mins wen I watched this even tho I knew it was coming 😞

I just thought of a possible symbolism - remember how Aegon pushed the yellow pitcher of the table? It crashed and left yellow/golden-colored shards with red wine spilling out. This is possibly a foreshadowing of how his golden-colored dragon will later lie bleeding after the battle.

I love the brief glimpse we get of Aegon's relationship with Sunfyre. You can see the love. Probably the only kind of love Aegon has ever experienced. The concoction that Alys gave Daemon was Weirwood sap, it's what Bran consumes to enhance his Greenseer powers. Daemon drank it because he had just seen her eat some off her fingers, and then add hot water to it. In the books, it is said that she appears older than she looks, but according to the showrunner, Ryan Condel, she is 400 years old. Alicent saying that Viserys' intentions are irrelevant now, is her way of coping with the mistake she made. If his intentions are irrelevant, her mistake is, therefore, also irrelevant. You can actually burn a dragon. The older a dragon is, the more impervious to fire they are. Also, the older they are the hotter their fire burns. So, an older dragon, like Vhagar is far more fireproof, and her fire hotter, while young dragons, like Sunfyre, are not only inexperienced but far more vulnerable to fire in fights. On the other hand, they are quicker and far more agile. Meleys wasn't as harmed by Vhagar's flames because she was much older than Sunfyre. The actor who rode the bomb was named Slim Pickens, and the film was the 1964 hit, "Dr. Strangelove: or; How I Learned To Stop Worying And Love The Bomb." My understanding is three seasons are planned.

Rhaenyra loved her dad? She completely abandoned him and hid in Dragonstone for years after her false marriage with Daemon. When her father most needed his brother and daughter, they abandoned him. Did nothing regarding the realm or her claim while Otto and Alicent took care of Viserys and the kingdom. She's selfish and inconsiderate, just like Daemon.

Oh I cried my eyes out. Rhaenys and Meleys fought and died like warriors. You can't ask for much more than that. I think this show is really amazing. It's humanized dragons to the point that we actually cry when they die. Lol

I think Aegon was tired of waiting around hearing people talk and wanting action. His son had just been murdered and wanted revenge. He thought he could make some sort of difference because he felt useless and wasn’t being taken seriously. He wasn’t playing the game and was just tired of being disrespected. I kind of feel bad for him but then again he’s a rapist so it’s also hard to feel bad for him.

I love Rhaenys's smile when Rhaenyra says she went to Kings Landing to speak with Alicent after listening to her counsel. It added weight to her saying she will go to Rooks Rest with Meleys.

Loved the moment between Aegon and Sunfyre. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see more of that dragon before he got injured, I thought we would see him when Aegon got crowned..

No way was Rhaenys going to tuck tail and leave, her objective was to kill Vhagar even if it cost her and her dragon Meleys's life, she knew they had a legit chance especially knowing Meleys is battle tested and has the smarts to know it takes more than fire to battle another dragon

I think the fact that Aegon's prophecy means something to her is a further indictment on Rhaenyra. Imagine someone telling you that they gotta go to war because their father told them about a vague dream his ancestor had lol. My biggest thing is that the episode before this one is about Rhaenyra coming to the conclusion later than Alicent. The war was foregone as soon as Aegon was born and the crown didn't cement these oaths time and time again for years. If she wanted peace, she could've surrendered, as Alicent joked. But she wants to rule which I guess is fair enough but we can't fall into her sharing her beliefs. The prophecy is kinda wild when you think about it cause Jaehaerys wasn't even supposed to inherit the throne. Neither was Viserys. That it's a divine right that only Rhaenyra is supposed to carry is cope. Aegon is just as much a Targaryen as Jace.

If Alyn and his brother are Corlyses children they are velaryon meaning they have dragon blood and can claim a dragon, team black still has all the dragons under dragon stone and when Rhaenys said that Meleys was there largest dragon she meant there largest dragon with a rider Vermithor the second largest dragon still alive is on dragon stone and can be claimed by team black.

On the other "Game of Thrones" universe shows, there has been talk of doing an "Aegon's Conquest" set (probably also under the "House of the Dragon" banner), but the one currently in production, that will probably run next year between HotD seasons, is "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", which is based on the "Dunk & Egg" novellas, "Egg" being Maester Aemon's younger brother Aegon (who eventually becomes king as Aegon V) when he was serving as squire to a hedge knight "Duncan the Tall". So, it's likely that during the run of that show we will get to see a young Aemon. There was a scene in one of the books at a feast or gathering where there were a number of Freys in attendance, and one was a squalling, annoying toddler. I don't think it was ever stated outright, but it's heavily implied that the bratty child was a very young Walder Frey. Given the timeframe that the Dunk & Egg adventures take place, that would fit with old Walder's age in GoT

In the book it says that the dragon flames really don’t do much to the dragons. The older they get the thicker and harder there scales get, it does affect them, but the real damage is done with tooth and claw. Which makes the battles particularly brutal.

Loved the reaction! Only reaction who admired Crispin's swing for the beheading. Most others have made fun of it. Also, very nice the Daemon and Alys scene was shown nearly in it's entirety. Such a telling part of the episode. Loved Alys's taunting with her higher octaves, her boldness, and history lesson. Most other channels cut this scene to the quick or talk through it like it's not important. If a scene had feelings, it would no doubt feel like Helaena. Finally, on another note, Caraxes and Sunfyre's calls both give me goosebumps. The former, sends shivers of fear up my spine, while Sunfyre's is so mournful and beautiful. Sunfyre does not sound like a loon, but his call gives same hauntingly beautiful and uplifting vibes.

If Aegon is dead (I think they would have shown his dead face, if he was dead) his brother would be the heir because Aegon’s son was killed. I’ll bet Aemon had that thought as soon as the little boy was killed. And when Aegon humiliated him at the brothel, he was definitely going to get revenge.

This episode had episode 9 vibes so i cant wait to see where is goes next, and i think for sure aegon would've been a good king under the righr circumstances. Butnim sure this is what Otto had in mind the whole time, you would think he wouldve heped prepare him to be king

If game of thrones made you forget it’s a fantasy show then that is not good because magic is actually one of the most important aspects of the show (in the books there is even more magic)

I think that Aegon genuinely intended to be a good king at first. He obviously had a slightly warped view of power and thought he drink and loaf around a bit, but he seemed to want to do some good. The death of Jahaerys changed all that, and the barriers holding back the gleefully psychotic side of him came down. He saw that being merciful and being a pacifist hadn't helped him. After this, he became vengeful, wreckless and self serving, but also very lonely. Had he had true friends and love from his family, he might have stayed his hand and not gotten involved in the battle of Rooks Rest. So all in all; A bad, weak but not evil king. Just someone who had no friends and made poor decisions.

Rhaenys vs Catelyn. Rhaenys discovers the Sea Snake's love child, and wants the best for him. She is disappointed in Corlys, but states the child is not at fault. This was referring to an offspring just met. Catelyn saw Jon grow up as a baby. Never accepted him. Loathed him. Scorned him. Theon, as a hostage, had a place at table, unlike Jon. Jon was a good kid. I can only imagine what life for Jon was like growing up and feeling cold scornful eyes glare at him if he so much as entered a room. Some of Catelyn's distain for Jon, rubbed off on Sansa. The other Stark children accepted and loved Jon, especially Arya. Big difference between Rhaenys and Catelyn. Both tragic fates, but Rhaenys was even more so.

Why does everyone keep saying Aegon and Sunfire are dead both were alive at the end of the episode. If they don’t die on screen it didn’t happen.

I think Helena is the only child Alicent really cares about.

I love the show but I do kinda think they did the dragons a little bit dirty. They are just portrayed as means to an end, as mere tools, when they are so much more. We get to see so little scenes with each of them. In fact we see almost zero scenes with most of them before they just die. Its sad really. And annoying. The relationship between dragons and their rider could have been much more. It feels like a wasted opportunity at the very least. They are atomic bombs but they are not just that. Having viewers attached more to the dragons could work such a long way for our emotions.

Dr. Strangelove is the movie. Probably someone has already told you, but I don't have time to look through the comments to find out for sure.

You can burn the dragon and its rider but it takes a lot of heat to damage the dragon the main reason dragon riders don’t do this is cuz it blocks ur own vision and it can lead to a surprise attack

If alicent hadn’t talked down onto him,Aegon wouldn’t have flown his dragon to the battle…that is why helena forgave alicent the previous episode

She was my favorite character and very brave. But I will never understand why she didn't watch Aegon hit the ground and then fly back to dragonstone. She would go back able to announce that she took out the king's dragon and possibly the king. But had to retreat because it was a trap. But by being brave and fighting. Rhanyra has now lost her largest dragon and smartest commander. (At least she SEEMED smart for most of the show) It was pointless. The castle was taken the moment Vhagar came out or even before.

Even though I’m team Black, I’ve really felt bad for Aegon more and more. He didn’t want to be king, but was tracked down and forced to be crowned in a political play by the Greens, he tries to do right by the citizens of kings landing, and is undermined by Otto..his son is killed and not even his mom is decent enough to console him in his weakest moment, instead she goes to fuck Cole again. And then everything that happened leading up to him heading to the battle in this episode. He has many flaws but dude, I think he’s a partial product of the people around him too

Vhagar has bigger wings, hence she is faster then Meilys she would catch up with her eventually

There are 3 very important events to come that can serve as season enders. So I'd say 4 seasons unless they go on after the war. The story itself is only about 300 words (orginally 120 words in an anthology) as opposed to 5 books at about 4500 pages (with two more to go) which is Game of Thrones. Dunk & Egg is the spinoff with Aemon and young Walder Frey. It takes place about 80 years before Game of Thrones and about 100 years after this show (give or take a couple decades) And you're thinking of Dr. Strangelove which is sad considering that you forgot all about Die Hard.

Dragons have unlimited number of fights in them as long as they aren't killed. Rhaenys was the queen who should have been, she should have been hand of the queen. Her and meleys went out like the warriors they were. Rhaenyra didn't just lose one of her biggest dragons she lost her closest advisor and supporter

Lord Corles is the 2nd most powerful man in the kingdom in westeros, 2nd from the king, his house is the strongest that's why they put respect on hs name when he walked in the meeting. I don't think its because his a man. Noody wants to be enemies with the man who controls westeros shipping lanes , he keeps everyone eating by sea I assume

I'm not team green in the least but I find it impossible to hate Aemond. It's wartime and you need someone like him on your side. Plus the actor playing him is doing such a great job.
