something that a lot of people tend to miss in the scene with cathy and jim in the hotel room is **dwight**. the fact that dwight wasn’t suspicious of cathy and jim alone in a room together, while stanley was, really showed that he KNOWS jim would never cheat on pam. however i wish jim would stand up for himself and actually tell her to leave sooner

Except he literally helped Pam earlier and accused Jim of lying. A more coherent notion would be that when Dwight saw Cathy he assumed it was obvious that this would happen so he didn't pay more attention to it. Also he was helping Angela cheat at some point so, takes one to know one.

@AnimaltheCrafter how is she gaslighting him? I have this problem because it's a certain race of women that follow me around everywhere dressed like this, but say they aren't doing anything. And I'm not attracted to them but it just gets annoying whenever you don't want your mind occupied with whether what they are saying is true. I'm definitely not sexually attracted to them and not attracted to them at all. And they aren't able to hurt me if I don't have feelings for them. So how can you tell she was actually interested? And that she was gaslighting Jim?

@@bumblerbreeyeah I was gonna say. Gaslighting is an attempt to make a person doubt their reality and perceptions and think they’re crazy. Cathy tried to make him think he’s completely off for even suspecting her, and that he offended her honor when he expressed his discomfort with her actions. Reversal of victim/offender. He even apologizes to her, buying into her distortion of reality. She went way beyond “oh, I just don’t understand what you’re talking about.” This is really manipulative in a way that is typically identified as “gaslighting.” That said, Jim shouldn’t have fallen for it for even a second, he should’ve just been firm and kicked her out.

I remember that episode where after Angela decides to date Andy and Dwight goes by the stairs and starts crying and Jim comes along to console him. Jim says how being here, seeing Pam with someone else has been the wrost thing in his life. I remember he said the food had no taste and he wouldn't wish that on his worst enemy. From feeling like that about someone to cheating that person would just have been the worst plot line.

The amount of people in these comments calling Jim out for not immediately calling Cathy out is wild to me. He's secure in his relationship with Pam, thought he and Cathy were just good friends and was afraid he was reading into stuff too much. As someone who has had all of those feelings, i think Jim handled it pretty much exactly the way he could've been expected to. Immediately kicking her out just isn't his personality. Say what you will about that, but I guarantee at least half of the people commenting here would not do what they're saying Jim should've done.

Jim: did the right thing. Me: knowing what I know now about what my wife got up to while I was in treatment, I’d do the wrong thing. Sideways, upside down, from the rafters, in the closet. Wrong thing everywhere. Don’t bring a blacklight unless you also bring some Bee Gees coz it’s gonna look like a disco in there.

@bruce2953

@some__random__guy you failed to mention that David bringing in Charles to micro manage Michael annoyed him. Also that David Wallace didn't respect and appreciate Michael's birthday plans which triggered Michael. All those came together which led to him resigning on the spot. It wasn't just because Michael 'gets mad'. Michael throws tantrums all the time but he rarely gets legit mad There's a difference between oversimplying and summarizing. You still need to capture the main points which Cathy didn't have basically to begin with which is the original point
@some__random__guy
@some__random__guy 2 ай бұрын
@@bruce2953 It doesn’t change the fact he quit because he was mad at David. Like I said before, I simplified just as much as this guy did as there are much more to all three of the storylines being discussed here but again like I said before if you wanna make them sound dumb you can.

Yeah, I'm so very glad the show didn't end up going with Jim having an affair. I know I would have immediately stopped watching it since instead of a comedy with some drama it would have become a depressing Lifetime movie with an occasional joke. It's like Jim and Pam's relationship was what so many fans of the show were rooting for for so long, why would anyone be happy to see it collapse. It even depressed me in the later seasons when they were fighting cause of Jim taking that other job.
