I think if the show did more episodes where they focused on side characters like this, the show wouldn’t have gone as stale cuz after Michael left, they just focused on Andy, Jim, Pam and Dwight mainly. I like how this showcases creed and Meredith, gabe and Kelly and we see more of them

This is exactly what Greg Daniels and Mike Schur admitted to, they said they missed an opportunity by sticking fully to the British formula of the show (focusing on the crazy boss, eccentric and outlandish sidekick and a receptionist in love with a salesmen) which clearly lead to the drop in quality after Steve left. So when making the Parks and Rec characters ( a show notorious for its smooth seven season run) they really focused on fleshing out all members of the department.

Imo, part of this happened because they gave a lot of screen time to the celebrities in order to sell better to the audience, which is yikes. I would also prefer more stories of the other characters.

Am I the only one who found it incredibly sweet that Oscar came in to do Gabe's podcast in the end? Kinda wish meredith didn't barge in like that, might have actually had some character development occur for Gabe... but alas, he was doomed to be unlikeable...

Nah man it would be so lame if it turned out that way. Gabe's character is supposed to be this not only an annoying person but kind of a selfish one so he deserves to be unlikable. So by letting the podcast run you would not get development but rather decline of character because he would be rewarded for his selfish goals.

@@dddddd211 Yes he is selfish at times, but he is also put down by everyone in the office constantly. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the way people keep treating him has an effect on his confidence, which has an effect on how he's perceived by others and therefore how they treat him, creating a cyclical effect. I think if people started treating him with a bit of respect, you might expect to see him act with more respect in turn.

I wish they gave more screen time to Gabe. In this video he seems almost likeable and not completely pathetic. I think if they included him and fleshed him out more in the actual show he could have been a really cool character.
