I don't know what is his relationship with the band now, but I think that it would be really cool if he joined again. I really love Chester, don't get me wrong, but mark returning will be like a circle finally coming to an end. I think that it would be awesome if the bad ended the way it begun.

I wouldn't be against it. However, Mark suffered from a terrible stage fright back in Xero days (playing for crowds of less than 100 people). That was the reason why he decided to leave the band, he just couldn't perform. If he joined LP now, he'd have to face thousands of people at every show, many of which would have very high expectations knowing the original songs with Chester. It would be too much pressure to handle. I personally hope the guys get together and just play without the 6th member. They have ton of songs that Mike can sing by himself without another singer. And if they start in the studio, they may have 10+ more. I saw him live on his tour, the set was packed (20+ songs), and many of them were Linkin Park songs. LP without Chester would probably be mainly for hardcore fans, just like Mike's solo shows, for those who can enjoy songs like It's Going Down, In Between, No Roads Left, Roads Untraveled or Sorry For Now, or other more or less popular songs that Mike can sing. We'll see

@@ReadingAreaRailfan I'm pretty sure he just left himself, because he couldn't handle the stage fright and didn't really dream of being a singer. Mike says he left by himself and that they're still very close friends. He said it multiple times.

Mark has a good voice but its to common... it sounds like any other light rock guys voice...but Chester's voice is original!theres no other artist that sounds like him!I love chester with all my heart and glad he's in the band

Not dissing wakefield but we all owe him tremendously for making it possible for a true deadly combination known as linkin park its chance to shine.. only Chester Mike han brad and co.could have blessed with their music. we should all really think about that.. thank god for fate!!!!

It's not Brad, or Linkin Park at all for that matter. It might be Mark himself. As far as I know, he recorded this song after he left. So there's no way Linkin Park was involved in the making of this song.

Read this on the same page: The founding of Linkin Park began with three high school friends; Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson. After graduating from high school, the three began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band, Xero.

nope, this isn't even Mark, it's a rock alt band called Wakefield that released a demo in mp3 and someone was like 'this must be Mark'. Its interesting watching people's reactions from the past to this, though.

@@mt441 wrong. After Mark left, he attempted a solo career. He recorded the song, "ground xero", but wound up not liking the sound, and the idea was abandoned

You can obviously tell by the way the music itself sounds this is NOTHING as to what Xero, Hybrid Theory or Linkin Park EVER sounded like. And back in Mikes day, it was kind of a pain in the ass to get a good studio that produced decent sound qual: in high school. They started at a pretty young age. But hey, Sorry Mark. Chester is just better. :P

They started off as Xero in about 1996, it was the lineup they have now except they didn't have Chester, instead the vocalist was Mark Wakefield, then they fired him or something and they hired Chester so they ended up becoming Hybrid Theory in 1998, but they had to change to Linkin Park because of some copyright thing.

@odild he didnt get replaced mark left in '96 to manage a new band while mike and the others were looking for another lead singer they took interest in chester so the began trading demos and finally chester called mike and sang on the phone then mike was like can you come down to los angeles then chester was like yeah

no this is just Mark Wakefield, the former singer before chester, this was recorded much more recently then the xero song youve heard was. The name of the song is groundexero but its not an xero song source: linkin park wiki, Mark Wakefield page

Vocals are Wakefield, I was convinced of that. Listen to Reading my Eyes with Mark's backing vocals (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gphza7tkxt-np4U.html). the voices are the same, right? And listen to Mark singing in the Pictureboard demo, he sang there almost the same as here.

Did anyone actually figure out who this really is? It's not Mark, it sounds absolutely nothing like him. I had thought it was Taproot since it sounds so much like Stephen richards, but he confirmed it's not him. Sounds a little bit like it could've been a dinosaur jr demo or something.

I personally think Mike Shinoda should be the only singer, with Chester vocal in the background tracks, and that's it. Any other attempting would be weak, same as the replacements for Freddy Mercury for Queen. I hope they are not going to do something like that. Nirvana stopped and that was the right thing to do. I hope LP will do the same or that they will go on with Shinoda only somehow. That is my opinion, for what it matters ...
