In this video I've had a few requests to do a more traditional bloom so we're having some fun with that here. I hope this video is helpful and inspiring for you and you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it!

PM to Paint measurement (ESTIMATE!):
1.5oz (45ml) PM to between 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) to a 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) paint to start. If too thin add a little more paint (or even a gel gloss), if too thick add a little more PM to thin more.

It's me again! Right in the center of this piece there is a baby bunny rabbit! Just to the right in yellow there is a little chubby mans face with a mustache too! Just below the chubby man is a stylized bird with a red and white face and his wings are up in flight! Another masterpiece! Oh and when you put the blacklight on it the baby bunny turned into an embryo! WOW!

Hi Jodie I just love that Hustle piggy with the custom purple you made. It's so striking. Of course it would glow for you under blacklight. Ha ha! The lacing or webbing blows me away it's so intricate and fine. I love the colors. Thank you so much for mentioning Michaels might have the Golden purple. Like your clock on the back wall too. Very beautiful. The dark light images were a lot of fun. Most of the cells had little surprises inside. Some looked like rice, and others had hearts inside. This painting is amazing. Thank you

Oh, this is amazing! You’re right, there isn’t anything like the original bloom. Maybe if enough people contact Golden, they would bring back the permanent Violet dark. So BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you! 🌺💗

I started with a really big cardboard box and a metal cake spinner and it worked out amazing until I wanted to go bigger. Now I use a 40” round puppy pool as my spinner box but other things can work well too. Have fun! 🤗💜

Winner winner chicken dinner. I love the colors. I was able to find ONE perm violet dark at Michael’s after the last time you mentioned it. It’s a high-flow though but I love it. I do t think there’s any to be found anymore, at least not in San Diego. I have to say that traditional blooms are my favorite and then the swipe. Have you ever tried the deconstructed bloom? The first time I saw Karen do one I was like, “Noooo!” But they do turn out so pretty and abstract.

That’s so funny you mentioned the deconstructed blooms as I was walking around the house this morning opening the drapes my mind said you really need to try a deconstructed bloom now haha! @@ThePaintedDreamer haha! Yes you do need to try it. I’ve only tried it once and made the mistake of layering my colors differently from each other and it wasn’t cohesive. I think my paint was too thick too. She makes it look so easy! The thing I like most is you can get a larger scale painting. How many coasters and 8x8’s do I need? One day I’ll start my channel and maybe even sell one! 🤩

Oh I'm so glad you did a normal bloom today, it just came out so beautiful 🥰❤️ I absolutely love that huge cell in the center that's white with swirls in it i swear it makes me think of a baby in the womb but this piece is amazing I haven't done a bloom in a while now I'm still trying to adjust to my new pouring medium I absolutely HATE this minwax one coat I gotta reorder my Behr polyurethane I loved it, or the varathane polycrylic I guess you live and learn lol I'm having to mix this minwax 3:2 instead of my normal 3:1 mix... It's nice to see you do a traditional bloom I was watching to see if you put your name or initials in it when you were altering it lol I have one that has Casey spelled in it somewhere lol I just wanted to see if it would hold when I spun it out and it did lol great work I love it!!

Thank you Casey 🤗. Yep you saw that embryo too I saw it after the fact and a lot have shared the same view haha, so awesome! Is the Minwax one coat too thick for you? That was one I really liked but a lot of factors come into play and you definitely want to use it with a thinner untinted base. I’ve never thought of putting initials in but I may have to do that either before or after the spin, we’ll see 😉💜🤗

@@ThePaintedDreamer well the minwax mixed with the valspar ultra high gloss base c separates a lot on me quickly too like within hours where as I had zero separation with the Behr polyurethane I think with it being cold it's just not the right time for a thicker poly right now I need that thin poly to make my paint the right consistency I swear the poly is thicker then the paint and this is the first time I've ever seen that. I'm gonna go get me some poly tonight atleast I'm hoping to lol nothing ever goes as I plan!! I'll be watching to see the initials it'll be a fun eye spy lol 😆

So pretty! Quick question.. what varnish or mixture would you say is the closest to josana that you can get at home depot or menards or Lowes? Thanks for your help

Thank you Barb! I don’t know that anything is close to the jo sonja varnish it’s kind of in a league of its own but there are other nice options at the hardware stores. If you want a thinner varnish (think almost like water) then either the Minwax polycrylic water based gloss or Varathane Ultimate polyurethane water based crystal clear gloss. If you want something thicker then either the Minwax One Coat Polyurethane gloss varnish or the Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane clear gloss both water based. It depends how thick your untinted base paint is, if it’s on the thinner side you can use the thicker varnish but if your untinted base is real thick you want a thinner varnish. The Minwax brand is sold at Lowes and the Varathane brand is sold at Home Depot. Since you also have a Menards you can get both brands there 😉. Hope this helps! 💜

Thank you so much Eric! 🤗 I did not no, I don’t use silicone in my pieces I use a mixture of paint and Australian floetrol or US floetrol depending on the video. Just FYI I’ll call it out when I’m going over the paints used at the beginning and then have images of everything used at the end (or beginning on earlier videos). Hope this helps! 😊

@@ericsherelssr7916 It all depends on the technique you are wanting to doing, Eric. The blooms technique and the blooms swipe techniques I use don't involve silicone only the floetrol cell activator but there are other techniques and recipes out there where you can use silicone. Another thing is some use US floetrol as their pouring medium and then silicone to get their cells. It really all depends on the technique and then sometimes even with that there are multiple pouring mediums you can use within that technique to achieve your results. I would say pick a technique you want to learn and then figure out which ingredients work best for you. It can be a lot to take in with different artists using different things to achieve similar results so keep it as simple as possible while learning. Have fun Eric! :)

I went out and purchased the Minwax Poly, the Glidden Untinted Base 3. However, I only have Lowes near me and they dont carry the Behr line. Can you please recommend a substitute? Also, was that untinted as well?? I did also purchase the Flotrol and the Josonja

Hi Sherry, since you have the Glidden base 3 and the jo sonja you don’t need the Behr then. I don’t have a substitute for the Behr I’m sorry but try out what you have to get a feel for everything. I started out with the Glidden/jo sonja as my pouring medium in my super early videos. It does have a bit more titanium in it than other untinted bases but still dries just beautifully and makes amazing cells. If you ever do get around to getting the Behr (that is also untinted) that works well either combined with the Glidden or by itself with that poly since it’s a thicker base. Practice with what you have you are good. Have fun! 💜

I love your videos and your work. I have yet to succeed but I'm getting closer. My latest attempt on a modified bloom, I lost the definition I had on the modification as the paint dried. I thinned the pillow ever so slightly because it seemed very very thick and I thinned the colors because I used heavy body tube paints. and my previous attempt the colors were so thick I could not blow them out at all. This time they blew out very nicely and modified very nicely but smeared as they dried. Would the pillow paint or the colors more likely be too thin?

Thank you so much Debby 🤗. I guess I’m not understanding when you say they smeared, did the cells get all weird or wonky? Or something else? For things shifting around either there’s too much paint left on, or it’s a consistency issue where one paint may be thicker and one thinner so the thinner one may start to shift a little, also glossier paints and bases may shift some due to the gloss factor. Hope this helps! 💜

@@ThePaintedDreamer I went in and looked at it again this morning. There is some crazing in the negative space. So I'm going to say my pillow paint was too thick meaning I had too much of it on my canvas, rather than a consistency problem??? I put too much pillow onto the canvas maybe and it caused my colors to continue to move a bit after I had modified them. That's my guess after your helpful comment and thank you so much for responding, not everyone does, you are so great!.

@@debbycaldwell-homestrungje775 Yea it's a fine line leaving too much paint on, I get some cracking still even when I think I've taken enough off, it just happens. Paints being thicker can contribute to cracking it's a balancing act but as you keep working with it you'll get a feel for what works best with your consistencies and your environment. :)
