I take Amtrak frequently between DC and NY and they seem to be pretty similar. There's more leg room but I think the leg room in coach is pretty decent. MUCH better than a coach airplane ticket.

We loved Amtrak, it is a great way to travel. And Amtrak coach and Place coach seats is so much more comfortable 😅

The legroom is worse than the basic LIRR train I take everyday to work, less spacious if that's even possible. This is a cross state transportation compared to the most basic local transportation which is just plain sad

We've never traveled far in the USA by train (just subways and some metra's in Chicago), so it's cool to see how Amtrak works! Seems like booking early is the move! Glad to hear you made the most of your separated voyage! 😊

Thank you for watching Courtney and Michael 🙌While we had some experience with Amtrak in California when we lived there, it was minimal. The Amtrak system on the North East was amazing and such a great way to get around. And, yes, booking early is key 😊Alicia still claims this was an accident, but with as much time as we spend together, i think it is possible she was just trying to leave me in NYC altogether 😂

I took the Northeast Regional from Roanoke, Virginia to New York, New York and vice versa. It was a ghost town in coach class from Roanoke to Washington, D.C.. In D.C., there's like a 40 minute layover while they switch locomotives from diesel to electric. It got REALLY packed. It got even more packed as we passed through Baltimore, Wilmington, and Philadelphia. The opposite was true. It was packed from New York, New York to D.C.. After we got to Charlottesville, there was no one. Lol. Glad you had a good time.

Thanks for the awesome comment Jacob, we really appreciate it 🙌 We noticed certain stops were great to get on because the train was empty while others you are in the spring of your life to grab a seat. When it was really busy, we navigated to the quiet car as that was usually our best bet. All in all, had a great time and Amtrak is such a fun way to explore 🚆

Great vlog! I live in California and I frequently take the train from San Diego to Santa Barbara. I always go the business class route. In the morning they offer free pastries, coffee and juices. If you’re traveling in the afternoon you get a pretty decent box filled with snacks and a free beverage which includes red or white wine if you like. It’s pretty nice, and you get some beautiful ocean views along the way. 👍🏻 You both seem like really sweet people. Stay safe! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻

It sounds amazing though, and we will have to try it when we are back in CA. We do love the ocean views on the west coast and really miss our drives up and down Highway 1 🚘🛣 🌊 Thank you again for watching 😊

The business class looks way newer and cleaner than the Amtrak trains I’ve ridden coming out of Texas. And I did the trip from DC to Philly before. Amtrak commuter lines seem to not have the dingy looking cloth seats

We were very impressed with our Amtrak experience in Coach and Business Class. We figured it would be nice and comfortable enough, but were pleasantly surprised with out clean and spacious they were. We did take a train from D.C. to Jersey and that train was a bit older, but still comfortable and the conductor was awesome. Overall, just a great experience and fun way to travel 🚝 👍

I was very curious to see what business class is like because I take Amtrak very often from Philly to either NY or DC, and it doesn't seem worth that extra cost, to be honest. I'll sit my happy behind in coach lol

We can go either way, but coach on Amtrak is honestly so comfortable that it can be a hard decision to make the jump to Business class.

I just bought business class seat on Coast starlight train. It is, the west coast train between Los Angeles and Seattle 40 hours train ride. However I am just traveling from Martinez, CA to San Luis O bispo, CA. I only purchase the business class seat just for thanksgiving week. The economy seat are sold for the date Nov 30 Tue. The fares for economy would of been $63 the business class is $88. I have a voucher I needed to use before 12/31/21 due cancellation trip last year cause by pandemic started. Plus only a small discount for disabled people so, my only Co pay was $17. Not bad. I used Amtrak over the summer with my voucher and just finished it up lol. I look forward experiencing the business class. I might do a KZfaq on business class too

I'm about to go on my trip to Otakon in Washington DC and it'll be my first time in Business Class. I hope my experience will be better than the last time... Which someone was blasting their loud music in Coach Class in the middle of the freaking night repeatedly (They got the boot at the next station for a 3rd offense and verbally threatening the conductor) and the Amtrak staff on the Palmetto didn't off-load my main cosplay luggage.

Shake Shack is amazing 🍔 We have had it before, but in our recent trip home to the U.S. we fell in love with it. Maybe we have been away from our Western food for too long, but we will definitely be finding a Shake Shack when we are back in December 😊

HOLD ON! I just took my first Amtrak Acela business class train ride from Boston to Philadelphia. I did not receive a complimentary drink. I paid for my water. ugh! And my ride was also VERY SHAKY, I could not nap at all, I was bouncing all over the place. I was not expecting that at all.

Yeah, it was a nice touch we weren't expecting 🥤 I believe it is safe to assume that applies to sleeper cards as well, but we will have to tour those when we are back in the states again 😊

Hi, i have a plan to take business class Northeast Regional 95 train from NWK (Penn Station)-WAS (Union) this december. Unfortunately i saw this train doesnt have checked bagage available. So my plan want to bring my large suitcase inside the cabin. My questions are: is there any special compartment to store luggages in the train, not only just the overhead compartment? Do train officers really weight and check out baggages before we board on the train ? Thanks

Hi! We took this trip back in 2021, so things might have changed, but at that time, there were luggage racks at the end of the cars for larger bags, and we didn’t have any of our luggage weighed or checked 😊

You can carry as much cash as you want. It’s international borders (entering/leaving the USA) where $10,000 cash/monetary instruments must be declared or if you’re near in $10,000 it’s wise to declare just in case.

In coach make sure you carry the valuables whereever you go like in a Fanny pack or backpack since coach there is a higher possibility of theft then in a sleeper car, if in a sleeper car I would not leave that money visible close the curtains, Velcro them and slide the door closed when you want to leave the sleeper.

They do indeed and that is a very different experience. I don’t think I’d pay for it, but I upgraded a couple times when I was taking the train every week between DC and New York and got free upgrade passes. If you have the free upgrade option, it is worth trying. The food is actually good.

Went from Harper's ferry west Virginia to Denver Co. And back 80 + hrs. Worst travel experience of my life employee's were so rude the food was not fit for human consumption the seats were like a torture chamber it was November and the ac. Was on. Next time I'll walk

Next time I'll walk. Please forgive me, but, 😂😂😂😂😂 I've always enjoyed Amtrak myself, but one thing I would like different is a couple cars for those with kids under 9 or 10, so to keep rest of the cars free from young kids fussing. Some people are traveling going to a funeral or worried about a sick or dying loved one, or some other major stuff and not need added stress. Or make new trains and add crying rooms.
