@@Cwgrlup there are way to many circumstances and variables involved in stage 4 breast cancer for any doctor, unless it's in the liver, to know if it will kill you. As someone with breast cancer involved in at least a dozen groups of other women with the disease, I'm aware that advances in the medicine are happening all the time. One of my best friends was told "it would kill" her and is now in her mid 80s - 30 years after she was told this. My own partner was in palliative care for 3 months, the doctors had given up, but then a doctor in a another health care system discovered a trail they knew nothing about. (And this was one of the top cancer centers in the nation). So yeah, if it's absolutely the end of the road, inform the patient. But Stage 4 is not necessarily a death sentence. You can live 20, 30 more years and lots of other things can kill you in the meantime.

I am stage 4 mTNBC, I want my oncologist to be honest, straightforward and to never give me false hope. With stage 4 it is most likely what, I will die from. Yes, I COULD live many years, but with triple negative being the most aggressive breast cancer with much fewer treatment options, it is best, for me, to accept this is my likely outcome. Less than 20% live 5 years once it has progressed to metastatic. To say a doctor should “never say……” if an opinion that works for you, but not for me.

Right?! My cancer doctor keeps saying the word " inncurable" I speak up right away and say you cant say that! Lots of people get miracles,,lots of stage 4s walk away.

I’ve been living with cancer for 12 years now. I’m stage 4 as well. I’m currently back in chemotherapy. This time my oncologist is treating me with Enhertu. It’s not over until God says it over. For me my faith in Jesus has kept me going all these years.

You have to eat a plant base diet. Nuts, beans, fruits, vegetables and cruciferous vegetables. mushrooms. carrots, beets, collard greens. Research coq10, magnesium, vitamin d, and vitamin c, vitamin e (food), my ca125 was 270 now is under range 39. I also took herbs. To God be the glory!❤🙏🏼

@bmillig; As a physician you offer treatments and any other protocols that will help the patient. They’ll get the cheerleaders routine and morale boosting with their families, not a doctor. As a doctor you do have to be realistic. The reality is we’re all on the cusp of death. A mere breath away from it. One heartbeat away. If you have a patient that is terminal, you don’t say, hey girl, you can beat it! Let’s do this thing! Not your place but thanks for being willing to break your Hippocratic oaths. When would you let them know that they’re terminal? Second visit? After palliative care has begun? When doctor @ bmillig? What branch of medicine do you practice? Chiropractor? Podiatrist? Not oncology, that’s for sure!

@@neemasinha8781late but Incase anyone else sees this. If you push in your nipple, some people naturally have this too tho, it was goes inside the boob. If it does that without you pushing it in and is just like that. That is an emergency and you should get care immediately. Same with discharge (fluid) from nipples is very bad too. Can be other things but very abnormal.

That sounds terrible. Some doctors have no clue how it feels to the patient. . I had breast cancer. During a follow-up ultrasound I asked the doctor to scan the ultrasound wand on a sore spot under my arm. She said "oh it's not cancer, CANCER DOES NOT HURT"!! I wanted to punch her. She did go over the spot after I insisted but still blew me off! I was so angry. Yes my lump did hurt. That was one of the symptoms that really got me in to get the mammogram. It was stage 2B after all.

@@psrwhite The same thing is happening to me I have pain in my left breast and fluid comes out and they tell me that everything is normal all the doctors are fighting the diagnosis of my Neurology that found me cancerous cell. honestly 95% of doctors are negligent.

I have to agree, not sure if it was the same thing, but it just kept hurting, I knew I had tears coming down my face. He had to add painkiller, but it really didn't help much, I think it was an angle issue like yours. Next time, I would "ready" to speak up if the numbing isn't working, much earlier.

I think this is happening to me. This is the second time this breast infection came back in the same spot

I’m going in for a bone marrow biopsy tomorrow morning. More than likely it’s multiple myeloma. I already have MGUS, but my doctor dropped the ball on my annual tests.

I was on a cot with my 88 yo mom in the hospital. It was flat so breast at that angle. I put my arms across because I was cold. There it was. A lump. I was quickly diagnosed and had a lumpectomy and radiation. My mom went from the hospital to a very nice nursing home. That was a huge relief. I am an only child. My children lived out of town. She was safe. I could take care of me. She lived to 90. Still walking on her walker, singing and playing bingo the day she quickly passed away. Go forward 6 years. All mamograms and oncology manual checks good. My cat fell off the headboard going in the window and fell partly on me. The pain in my breast took my breath away. I grabbed it out of reflex. A lump extremely close to my scar. Breast cancer again but not a recurrence. A second primary tumor. A totally different and new one. I was shocked. I couldn't believe I had another one in the same breast. It had only been 9 months since my last good mamogram. I insisted on a PET which showed no spread. My Doctor said he was doing genetic testing. I have a granddaughter. It showed no mutation. Now since I have seen this I will ask for specifics. No breast cancer in my mother, grandmothers or aunts. I had a first cousin who died at 50 with MBC. I had a mastectomy which did not heal due to radiation cell damage. Had a debridement 2 months later and I have healed. I googled and looked at the percentage of people who die of a second cancer. It was not pretty. I am 72. I have lived life, had 2 children and one precious grandchild. Traveled the world and was an RN for 40 years. I cannot imagine the pain for a young mother like you. When I am at the breast center or my oncologist I see young women with a patient bracelet and my heart breaks. I am proud for what you have done for you and your family fighting so hard. Well done.

It's so sad and disheartening that cancer seems to affect reproductive organs the most, particularly the breasts and cervix in women and prostate in men, although prostate cancer is usually very slow growing and not as big a killer as breast.

Far more people die from prostate cancer than breast cancer here in the UK. But both have much higher survival rates than lung and other forms of cancer.@@iramsavir5631

Yes, it showed an absolute lack of empathy.

The way my doctor told me was he said “individuals in this situation have about four weeks, so we really need to get you in fast for surgery and you’ll start chemo in a month” It took me a minute to understand what he said, but he said it in such a compassionate and caring way. I knew that he wanted me to be well. it’s 10 months later and I’ve had 15 cycles. The tumors are stable stage four colon cancer with ovary, peritoneal and liver minutes.
