The Patient Story

Күн бұрын

Stephanie started getting stomach pains, bloating and felt run down. She was brushed off by doctors who said she was too young for cancer and put her on birth control. Her symptoms then got worse to the point where she felt she couldn't even eat. She then went to the ER, later got an endoscopy and was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.
In this conversation, she talks about the frustration of not feeling listened to and how important it is to fight for answers and advocate for yourself.

definitely, recently did a walk-in visit because I was feeling so incredibly ill and the temporary doctor just sort of laughed and downplayed my concerns, as well as my blood tests. (Told her I had been feeling very weak/fatigued with horrible headaches and diarrhea for the past month, along with soreness in my abdomen) Fast forward to yesterday, got to see my normal doctor and she took me more seriously and ran more labs. They came back worse and indicated I'm fighting a serious infection. My abdomen along with my liver and belly are swollen, lymph nodes on my neck too. I feel helpless but hopefully Monday I get more answers.

I have been going through this very thing for the past few years. Stomach pain,vomiting,losing weight,GI bleeding,numerous blood & iron transfusions & numerous colonoscopies. The doctors said a few years ago I have gastritis & diverticulitis but I’m always sick barely can eat. I recently went for a capsule endoscopy March 9th which was a few days ago & im currently waiting for my results. I know something is wrong other than gastritis & diverticulitis. I feel as if the doctors are just passing me off. I lost my home due to being sick all the time & can’t work. I don’t want to wake up one day & they finally say you have cancer but there’s nothing they can do. My anxiety & depression is always high. I’m on 3 different medications for anxiety disorders & depression. I recently tried to commit suicide because I’m so tired of pain,sickness & being homeless. I been going through this since 2018 & still no diagnosis 💔

I was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer in December 2022 at the age of 45. I had all the classic symptoms, bloating, gas, increased bowl movements, blood in my stool. I had an open low anterior resection in February 2023 with a ileostomy. Had my ileostomy reversed 28 days later. Spent a total of 16 days in the hospital. It was a rough road to recovery, for sure, but I thank goodness I'm cancer free now.

What scares me the most is how every case I've seen seems to be totally ignored by doctors, patients know there's something wrong but they get dismiss so badly that they dismiss their own syntoms until it's late. I've dealt with that for years and I hope not to be in a doctor's office hearing the quote "well, it's cancer". Hope You can beat this terrible disease

I just want to help really, please read me it could save soo many lives, or at least give more time: Guy TENENBAUM's case about cancer stage 4 and his protocol (he didn't use chemotherapy or radiotherapy): - a low-carb diet outside the fasting period (total elimination of carbohydrates/sugars) and eating OMAD (One Meal A Day) crucifers, garlic, onions, avocados, walnuts/almonds, olive oil and oily fish to avoid losing too much weight (avoid meat and cheese) - taking specific food supplements that Guy TENENBAUM has called TCC (The Cancer Cure) which correspond to his 5 essentials, with the dosage he took: * High-dose melatonin 30 mgr before going to bed (Phycocyanine or Lithotamne, but the most powerful would be melatonin): inhibition of SCOT (to use pure phycocyanine and lithotamne to increase the volume of SCOT inhibitors in addition to melatonin) * Allicin (either as a 2400 mg quality concentrated pill, or with crushed raw garlic): up/down stream of SCOT * Matcha green tea (with turmeric and ginger): up/down stream of SCOT * Metabolic treatment (metabloc): Alpha Lipoic Acid (or Sodium R Lipoate, 600mg 3 times a day, 1800mg in total) + Garcinia Cambodgia (Hydroxycitric Acid, 600mg 3 times a day, 1800mg in total) + CoQ10 (the transporter, 100mg morning noon evening) * Omega 3 in a DHA - EPA ratio (500mg DHA/200mg EPA): to fight keto paradox during ketogenic diet or the fasting phase * Bromelain (850mg to 5000 GDU) and Quercetin (500mg) for nodules * Berberine and Curcumin to block additional metabolic pathways - Alkalinise the body with a combination of baking soda and cider vinegar - if the body allows it: long fasting then the following month by short fasting and intermittent fasting + taking nutrients and minerals to avoid deficiencies (vitamin D3, Magnesium Bisglycinate and multivitamins) The protocol has been validated by 3 peer-reviewed scientific publications: 1) "Inhibition of SCOT and Ketolysis Decreases Tumor Growth and Inflammation in the Lewis Cancer Model" 2) "Cancer Metabolism: The fasting reset, the ketosis paradox and drugs for elimination" 3) "Unravelling cancer metabolism: Fasting reset, the ketogenic diet? and therapeutic strategies"

I was 27 (female) when I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer back in March 2020. My family doctor did a great job in finding out what's wrong with me. She sent me for an Ultra sound, but the lab didn't find anything wrong. She then decided to ask for a second opinion and that second opinion saved my life. My second Ultra sound was done in a hospital and a Doctor performed the scan instead of Laboratory staff. He found a 8 cm mass and that's when my other hospital appointments happened (CT scans, Biopsy, Surgeries, MRI, colonoscopy and chemo). I also have PET scan every 3 months. So far everything is good, I'm turning 32 soon. 😊

I've had cancer too. I know how it is to have the cancer ghost follow you daily. For many, the mental anguish does more damage than the diagnosis itself. It's the cross in life that we carry. I turn to God and prayer when things get too overwhelming. I know that someday when I'm gone and I leave my physical body behind, I will be free of pain, anxiety and worry. And that will be a good thing. God bless.

You are so right, I never in my life ever knew what anxiety was, right now I have endometrial cancer for second time and colon cancer in 2007. A excellent Dr. did a gene test due to colon cancer runs in my family and I have Lynch Syndrome, which allows me to have other types of cancer. Right again, only us know our own body, listen to it. I’m 63, sometimes I want to give up because this chemotherapy and immunotherapy are very aggressive and I’m so sick for a long time, 12 days out of 21, I’m miserable with joint pain and nausea. Every time I’m getting blood work before chemo a get anxiety attack, i know is the anticipation for the results. In a few days, I’m getting a Pet Scan, can’t wait to see if treatment is working. Everyone going through this terrible decease is on my prayers. I want to have the strength to win this battle, but physically and emotionally is exhausting. We’re in Gods hands.

Thanks for sharing your cancer journey story. I was also diagnosed with stage 3b colon cancer this year and am on my cancer journey now as well. My surgery was a success and now I am doing chemotherapy as well. The neuropathy & cold sensitivity are not fun especially now that it's winter... still I am so incredibly grateful to be alive and well enough to keep striving for my health and life! I understand the anxiety and fear that you mention, that's been very challenging for me as well, feeling very sad and hopeless... definitely experienced depression since the diagnoses but it gets better over time as I work on my mental health. That's actually my main focus aside from keeping my body healthy, is my mental health & wellbeing. I want to live my best life and not let negative thoughts, anxiety and worry be in control. So I am intentionally building my mental health through yoga and intentional self-reflection and awareness. Stephanie, if you have not tried yoga yet, I would recommend trying yoga to help with anxiety and stress as it really helps with the mind-body connection and learning yourself. Yoga helps me get out of my head and focus on my breath and body. Practicing yoga everyday is MY time to honour my body and my health journey, its time on my mat to appreciate all that my body does for me everyday, it allow me time every day for intentional gratitude and self-care. I hope you give it a try and find similar benefits and self-care in the practice. Like others have mentioned in the comments, your smile is like a ray of sunshine, it makes me smile with you. Keep shining and taking care of you!

You are an inspiration, an amazing young girl. I'm reading this. Have a whole bunch of problems. Pain all of the time in my left side, back, bloating, sharp pains after eating, vomiting, diarrhoea. Tired. Have had this for just over 2 years. Have been poo pooed off. Lost 1 stone 4 lb in 10 weeks. Feel nauseas a lot. I'm 49 have had a total hysterectomy bi lateral salpingo-oophorectomy 18 weeks ago, adhesiolysis and ureterolysis 8 weeks later these symptoms started to reoccur. I'm having more sick days than good. Finding it hard to function and do the basics. I very much appreciate you sharing your story. I'm a young (normally a lively 49 year old Mum with a 26 year old daughter) Cancer does not discriminate. We need to listen to our bodies. I need to push for an appointment sooner. You are so brave and an inspiration to us. I believe it was meant to be that I seen your story today. Keep strong and stay happy, healthy. Your smile, sunny and bubbly personality, positivity throughout your journey is brilliant.

Hello! So glad you beat this! I've been having stomach issues for a few years now been in and out of the ER with all the tests and even a Endoscope. Had my gallbladder out cause they thought that was the pain in my stomach.. Still have a pain there, sometimes I needed a heat pad on it.. but I'm 35 and I'm finally getting a colonoscopy on thursday went to a different dr. My great grandma and grandma and now father have had or have colon cancer.. Have a lot of these symptoms. My stool has changed a lot lately and bloating. We shall see. Thank you for sharing your story 💙

Whatever your doing, do something completely different. If your a vegetarian or vegan, go carnivore for a while and see what happens. Or cut out all processed foods and anything with grain. Alot of people have holes in their stomach and numerous auto immune diseases from eating breads of any sort. Just try something different for a month and see what happens. 3 day water fasts do wonders as well for a reset.

I currently suffer with Diverticulosis and have had 2 colonoscopy's (1 year apart) and the first one showed pre-cancer cells in 1 of the 5 polyps I had, all were removed. My 2nd colonoscopy a year later found 4 polyps but they were small and was told to come back in 3 years. I don't know about anyone else but 3 years seems an awful long time to wait especially when one of my polyps was pre-cancer. I constantly suffer with extreme bloating and feeling sick like I'm going to vomit and my bladder hurts all the time. I frequently have to go to the bathroom to pee and it's hit and miss whether I can have a bm or not. Knowing I have diverticulosis my symptoms can mimic that of cancer but if you ask me an annual colonoscopy shouldn't be a monumental task to get. I thank you Stephanie for getting the word out there and sharing your story, I wish you all the best in your health and recovery.

I also have pre cancerous polyps got it removed and the next year i insist on having a colonoscopy despite them telling me 3 years so again i have multipe polyps in a different area and they told me in benign so they are going to do the next colonoscopy after 3 years but i dont think i will wait for that.i will still insist on getting 1 next year. @@leahgarcia2170 Sure, I have all the classic symptoms of Diverticulitis approximately 2 to 3 times a month and they include, loss of appetite, nausea, bloating, bladder pain and being unable to have a bm. I know this can complicate and possibly hide any bowel cancer symptoms but I think my only option is to keep checking for blood in my stool. I've been waiting almost 2 years for a much needed back surgery so I don't have much faith in getting a timely colonoscopy and any Doctor who is proactive about advocating for me. I'm fed up with the medical system and I highly suspect more people are having to wait extremely long times while some will surely have cancer. It's a sad state of affairs here in Canada.

My story is very similar to Stephanie's. Iam 61 and the doctors ignored my symptoms for over a year. Never suggested a colonogapy. That could have saved me alot of pain and the major surgery. My mass was at t g e point it almost burst. That would have killed me!. I am doing ok . I have stage 3 colon cancer. I've had 28 radiation treatments and 5 chemo treatments and I take 6 chemo pills a day. I have insurance but the cancer center I go to doesn't help with any cost of medicine or any thing. In fact they treat me like I don't matter because I can't pay for some of tge medicine or test. Just pray for me please!

I don't know why a FIT, or Fecal Immunochemical Test to detect fecal blood wasn't recommended early on. With blood detected, a colonoscopy would be the next step. And people can even order these tests online, take the test at home, and mail the test in for the results.

Not just because of insurance. Good NHS in our country. Took many trips to Dr and hospitals ER for husband to get diagnosed. Stomach pain only symptom but starting to lose weight. Digital examination revealed tumors. Hospital sent letter saying in 6-9 months an appointment for colonoscopy would be sent. Much more time and complaining got colonoscopy pushed forward but a hell of a slow process. Took a few months to get diagnosed and then 5 months from diagnosis to when treatment started. too late. Mid 50s. One Dr said he thought that was too young. Husband was like the squeaky wheel. Didn't do much good though.

I feel so bad for people living in the US. I’m originally from Australia and now living in Japan and literally in both countries if you tell the Doctor that you think something is wrong, even if you’re a known Hypochondriac, they will do everything to ease your mind even if they know it’s more than likely nothing. But, on the off chance - they will do tests if you ask and sometimes even recommend it, just to ease your mind. I had some lower digestive issues. And from visiting the specialist on Friday, by Monday I was in there having a Sigmoidoscopy (Wasn’t very fun haha) He said if there’s any issues found with the Sigmoidoscopy they will continue onto a full Colonoscopy. But there was nothing wrong. Not a single thing. I was then diagnosed with IBS and high levels of Anxiety and stress. A lot of the time it truly is nothing. As a Doctor once told me - when you hear trotting, you don’t think of Zebras you think of Horses. That’s not saying things don’t happen to the young but it’s rare and just ask for the recommended tests…Beg if you have to. Get it out of the way. If it is something malignant, at least you’ll get it treated promptly and hopefully early. You’re gonna be okay 👌🏼

The other side of the coin in the US are the people, like me, who are given way too many unnecessary tests, given and recommended even though I have NO symptoms! Can't wait to be 75 so I can safely stop having countless unnecessary mammograms and breast biopsies, even though I've never had symptoms! And don't get me started on colonoscopies. Too long to go into here, but I was diagnosed as having coloncancer when I did not! BTW, I'm 72, with no symptoms, except for a previously diagnosed arthritic hip, which my doctor wanted to send me for an mri for osteoporosis for! (I had tests for osteoporosis several years ago and it was normal.) I think our doctors in the US are poorly trained and do not listen. And they don't write down or document what you tell them, so they have no recall from one visit to the next!
@BlightBreedOfficial
@BlightBreedOfficial 7 ай бұрын
@@commonsense6967 Damn, that’s an interesting angle and I appreciate you sharing your experiences. In Japan it’s actually really good. Doctors write everything down, they know you by name. Schedule tests if they think it’s required or if you request for it to be done and it all happens very fast. They give you the right medications, it’s also very cheap as the Government pays 70% of all health bills. Which includes doctors visits, specialists etc. Even included the Dentist which is crazy as even in Australia that has or did at least have one of the best health care systems in the world, didn’t cover dentistry. I don’t think many countries covet dentistry, so it was a shock when I first found out that Japan does. So instead of paying say $200 USD for a filling, it’s like $30 USD. It’s crazy. I’m sorry to hear about the annoyance you’ve gone through but I think you should be happy that at least you’re able to have unlimited access even if it’s unnecessary sometimes. I wonder how you were diagnosed with Bowel Cancer but don’t actually have it? That is very strange. How did they even come to that conclusion? So strange! 😂

I'm currently waiting for a colonoscopy. Despite losing multiple family members from GI tract cancers and ive been told everything under the sun despite abnormal labs told to go home and my GP said they would do a scan at fhe hospital but they barely spoke with me i cant drive and there is no alt hospifal near me. Im on COC pill for months now as they thought was my menstrustion, still iron deficient every 4-6 months which isnt normal and i despite saying i feel this is something else ive always been brushed off aside just because im in my 20s i have a biomed degree and labelled as hypochondriac and know too much basically despite telling them and showing the test results from back home where i am og from, despite my family history of cancer which is what drove me into cancer research as i dont want anyone to suffer as i watched my fsmily suffer. Sometimes it is better if you do not know all the details and come armed because some doctors will just say you are crazy like they did to ke with my epilepsy for over 10 years like they with my L5-S1 discopathy living with disabling sciatic pain everyday at 16 years old and going to college and just trying to believe it was all in my head as i was told because they wouldn't waste money on an MRI for someone my age at the time. It is awful what i have been through and still am but it is comforting to know other people are putting their medical stories out there and experiences in the patient story as an aspiring cancer researcher myself but right now im not in the best of positions but i have nothing left. I really hope that they find what it is causing this and whatever it is be it cancer or not i will try my best fo beat it and or learn to live with this thing i.e. Crohn's etc but i do hope they get at the root cause of why i am going iron deficient and now my WBC count has been down for several years my liver tests are raised and last 2 weeks i have been waking up drenched in fhe middle of the night with a 38.7 degree celsius relentless fever. Im just tired you know and i have so much to live for i hope they get to the bottom of it and the procedures are done properly and thoroughly and im not scammed because i honestly lost all the trust in the healthcare system where i am (mind you i worked in it for over 5 years so i know both sides of the coin) had to resign due to my health and as a graduate i don't have enough to go private at present...*sigh* Much love, ~ Mila🌸👒

Hearing this makes me so angry. My brother in law was told exactly the same thing, he was in agony for weeks. My sister literally dragged him out of bed because he would not go to the hospital, so she took him because he also wouldn't allow her to call an ambulance. He had an abcess which had burst, so they gave him antibiotics which cleared it up and said to go back to hospital for a check up which he did. so they checked with a camera and said you have got colon cancer and we need to schedule a date for surgery. Listen to this for a eff up, so surgery was scheduled and my sister and husband were due to fly out to Dubai where he works often, and has private care So they have both cried all the way to Dubai in floods of tears, so he went to see someone who was a top surgeon for a second opinion who done the same procedure as the surgeon in Derby hospital and when he woke up she said I can tell you now you have not got colon cancer, you just have scarring from the abcess and if they had just gone up higher with the camera they would of seen that. They were given a disc with the procedure they done so they took it to Derby hospital who were going to take him down next morning for surgery and would of woke up with a bag because they effed up. How many people have been told they have cancer and actually haven't. SECOND OPINION GUYS don't accept anything less xxx

I was diagnosed with IBS 50 years ago when I was 17. Dr. tossed me a pamphlet that listed foods to avoid, such as pork, fried foods, oil, and dairy products. I became a vegetarian from that moment on which resulted in a 15 lb. weight loss. Even so, I continued to suffer IBS symptoms for decades until I came across a suggestion to add 2 tbs ground flaxseeds and to incorporate fermented foods intoy diet, and I rarely have a flareup anymore. My mother was diagnosed eith colon cancer at 48 and following surgery lived another 14 years. As a result I had my first colonoscopy at 45 and then again at 50. I'm getting ready to have another this year for peace of mind.
