I only knew Quito in the Netflix series of The Liberator Simon Bolivar, which I only watch only this year in July 2024😅, it’s in this iconic town where the great Liberator Simon Bolivar met the love of his life, the dazzling beautiful Ecuadorian Manuelita Saenz.

The location of the equator at Ciudad Mitad del Mundo was calculated by French mathematicians in the late 18th century, but modern GPS has determined that the famous yellow line is about 240 meters from the actual equator. It was still an amazing feat for its time.

Yes, there was a state of emergency, but that has passed. We were there during.m the emergency and felt very safe as the conflict was happening between the police and the cartels and it was mostly happening within the jails. However it has died down now.

Quito is only the 2nd highest capital of the world. La Paz Bolivia is the highest. get it right.
