These videos are absolutely great Dancers talking about their shoes. The main thing that is missing is that you hardly ever see the dancer wearing the shoes in the videos and explaining some of the detail which would be incredibly helpful. That really is the missing detail that would add a lot of value to this Shoe Series.

Love seeing how different ballerinas prepare their shoes. I work in law enforcement, and I used to really struggle with shooting, until one of the range staff said to me, “You gear works for you, you don’t work for your gear.” That was a game changer, I committed to obtaining new gear that I works well for me, not just the stuff I bought because an instructor said it “the right piece of equipment.”

I remember watching the ballet west documentary and cheering for Beckanne. I wanted her to succeed and climb the ranks even more so to speak. She is so stunning to watch and combined with her smile and beauty inside and out, she is the perfect example of what we think a ballerina should be.

I’m an actress and I’m obsessed with my shoes staying firmly on my foot. Once I was stepping on stage, and my shoe slipped off and went flying across the stage! 😂 Now I try to always wear character shoes or t-straps, even though I haven’t found a comfortable pair.

Icy C sadly so many have to buy two pairs. My friend always tries on her “right” side shoes and make sure both of the shoes fit her foot and then she does the same with the bigger size on her other foot. she making having to buy the two pairs it is worth it vs when it is online she cannot make sure they both are comfortable. Her local pointe shop does try to price match when they can due to her circumstances.

She mentions using paper towels, I used cotton rounds. I would only put one on my big toe and then one on my pinky toe or one on the bottom of the box depending on the shoe. It’s thin enough to feel the floor without overcrowding but durable enough to not have it disintegrated like a paper towel.

Lol - not at all! It's a matter of working up to it gradually, giving your feet time to form callus in the right spots, and definitely, definitely having shoes that have been professionally fitted. You may need to go as far as to New York to have this done - you need to be in a store where they stock enough shoes to actually do the fitting. In a small store they may have the expertise but they don't have enough shoes in stock to do the fine tuning. It really matters. The amount of balance and control that you gain with properly fitted shoes and minimal padding will elevate your abilities beyond belief, it's truly worth it.

If you made a mistake with the ribbons and cut them too short is there anything you can do? And is it possible to un sew them and sew on new ribbons?
@alpacaheartstudios5364
@alpacaheartstudios5364 5 жыл бұрын
Marian Giallombardo if you cut them too short you can wrap them around not as many times. You can get a seam ripper or tiny scissors to cut the thread and then pull It out so the ribbons come off and you can see new ones.

@@happyclc I ended up taking off one of the ribbons yesterday because it was actually sewn too far back. I was very careful when I took off the old ribbon and the shoes suffered no damage. And I replaced it with a proper length ribbon. I did also experiment with some fabric glue (on left over ribbon) and I think it would also work. My teacher thinks I could keep them as they are as they still stay on decently and for next time I need to remember to not cut them... lol

@@alpacaheartstudios5364 thanks..I am an adult and not lucky enough to have the tiny beautiful ankles so they were not wrapped around an additional time. I did end up taking off one ribbon because it was sewn too far back and I sewed on a new one with the proper length. I am always so afraid to cut anything and this was a good lesson (I still have the ties at the full length because I am afraid to cut them).

Francisco Aguayo its only that short of a time for professional dancers in a company , and they break them in like this so that they are ready for stage. The company pays for the shoes the dancers use in performances as well. A normal dancer would never break in pointe shoes this way . Hope this helped .
@Deinareia
@Deinareia 5 жыл бұрын
Professionals are in their shoes up to 10 hours each day. Of course they break quickly. As for students and hobby dancers, I've met girls whose pointe shoes lasted them for almost two years while still being hard. For me personally, it is usually about 4 months for a pair, as I have quite flexible and strong feet and break the shoes easily.
@katiefulton9456
@katiefulton9456 5 жыл бұрын
Francisco Aguayo Plus pointe shoes are basically really hard “papier -mâché” so the sheer strength required alone to “hold one’s self up” is phenomenal and the shoes soften (aka “die) according to temperature, repertoire, usage frequency: it’s all a fascinating world, and fitting pointe shoes is an art in and of itself: (Lots of love & respect, Josephine! 🙏💕) Finding the perfect pointe shoe is my plight in life: many dancers would agree. I’m glad to see you taking interest and respecting our art form that so many people wrote off as “easy” or “cute” - when it’s really actually hardcore. 😊💪
