Grace was so kind to those two, and gave an honest interview. She could not plumb the depths of her worst alcohol-induced behavior, but gave a strong warn-off to alcohol and the drugs. One of my favorite short Slick interviews - the old salt speaking to naive, kindly, but not too bright kids.

my reaction too. never liked Donnie & Marie's music, & never saw their show, but they do a better interview here than a lot of performer interviews I've seen. They've got a nice interaction between them too. makes me wonder what other equally improbably sounding interviews they did. Dylan? Zappa? Baez? got curious enuf to do a youtube search, and amid the sea of vanilla I see Stevie Wonder, Count Basie, Richard Simmons, Little Richard.

+abyios How do you know that Grace Slick is 'bald'?
@anonymas1582
@anonymas1582 7 жыл бұрын
"bald" = "no hair on head" "skinhead" is a modern slang that implies "by choice" or even "as a statement" (tho there are many diff personal statements thus made) "bald" was the word for no hair on head back when few if any chose to shave their heads. my impression is it is now only used in reference to people who can't grow hair ... but there is probably still a lot of crossover between the 2 uses for many people becuz "choosing" no head hair is a recent new style (at least "recent" at the pace at which languages evolve specific new terms). I've no idea which +abyios is saying Grace is.

What makes this interview interesting is that its an odd pairing of people that works. Its too bad that we cant all be so positive and respect everyone elses differences and learn from that in 2017. Grace is clearly a rich white girl who followed her mind in the 1960's and has survived the consequences of the spinning wheel. Today we have a different drug problem killing a generation of people in their 20's and 30's. The wheel they spin was not as fortunate, but those of us with open minds can watch this interview and really understand this conversation. Especially when it is conducted by the hottest 'bubble gum' teen act of the 70's. Their experience was totally different from Grace as far as drugs go. Marie lost her son a few years ago. Triumph and tragedy doesn't exempt itself from us weather we are rich, poor, drug free, drug user, good or bad images, democrat or republican. Great interview!

I always had my own interpretation of White Rabbit which very well translates to the use of drugs but Grace has a very legitimate point about the story books we were read and read as children. Our innocent minds go gaga with the transformations the characters went through. I'm surprised Cinderella wasn't mentioned. Imagine the TRIP of the changing of mice, pumpkin, attire and having to be back before the clock strikes midnight. Only vampires and werewolves paid heed to that warning.

She's had a ton of health problems since this period. For her age and what she has been through she is still fantastically beautiful

Amen! I agree completely. They knew who she was and I’m sure they listened to a lot of her music. They were above all else musicians who respect talented stars.

Grace is so cool. She just tells it like it is. I wish she didn't have problems with alcohol though.
