This is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. RIght up there with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The entire TRON universe that Steve Lisberger created is CRIMINALLY underrated.

I don't know if it was ever meant to be this deep, but the score perfectly reflects the movie, being that they both are about the coexistence between synthetic and organic. In the movie, organic life forms emerge in an environment designed for synthetic life. The score is the same but opposite. It Incorporates synthetic instruments into a genre that is "supposed" to be organic (acoustic).

My thoughts exactly. It is such a unique and beautiful blend of synthetic and organic sound. The sound track and the movie complement each other perfectly!

"Solar Sailer" is indeed a great encapsulation of Tron Legacy soundtrack's unique blend of electronic and orchestral music. I would add, "Sea of Simulation" is, in my opinion, the most complete thesis statement for the soundtrack as a whole.

Solar Sailer is also my favorite, so I really enjoyed your breakdown of the track. One of the things I especially like is that the electronic part eventually becomes the orchestral part. I think it symbolizes the actual transition from the digital to the real world. Another group that's succeeded in the film world is Nine Inch Nails, or Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Uncharasmatic lead - the guys that played Flynn's son was so bland.... If they had had a 'star' or someone that made you want more, it would have done better.
@possiblyzslot838
@possiblyzslot838 Жыл бұрын
@@euphospug I get why people want someone who could've played a more "emotionally involved" role, but I think the Sam we got was just fine. The story isn't about him, it's about exploring this mystical world through his eyes and they achieved this with very few problems. Had the protagonist had "outbursts" that people love in drama movies it would have taken some of the attention away from the world. However, you are right in that someone who could've added some subtle details to the acting could've helped, especially in the scene where he sees his father again, they make it somewhat awkward which is natural, but it could've used something more

I guess I have weird tastes: I loved this movie in 2011 and I love it now (I can't believe it was panned). Daft Punk is an all-time favorite EDM duo, but the TRON 2.0 soundtrack is my all time favorite album of an all time favorite group (I can't believe it's slotted at the bottom of favorites lists), and it is one of the handful of albums I find worth downloading to my smartphone, when there's no service and there's nothing else to do but put on some music and think. It's great that others appreciate their obsessive approach to combining dance and orchestral music--its grandiose orchestral parts meet with EDM and hits me in the feels in a way that other music does not. Thanks for highlighting all these amazing pieces, dissecting them, and highlighting what makes them such incredible compositions. Was wonderful hearing you walk through the track list, and then bringing special attention to Solar Sailer, an album favorite that I figured is not very popular or found to be noteworthy. Thank you for putting together this content.

Looks so professional, on par with other channels like Lessons from the Screenplay and Thomas Flight. I'm surprised you didn't mention C.L.U., that's probably my favorite soundtrack of them all, starts with a electronic arpeggio and takes off with a soaring orchestral score with thumping electronic baseline in the background, resonating with the action on screen.

I love Tron: Legacy! Daft Punk's score made it rewatchable for me! Though, as you know, Solar Sailor didn't make it into the final movie but rather Sea of Simulation was in its place. Anyway, I've heard the track Arena at least a million times, and I can't get enough of it; it's like a fanfare to announce that a sports event is just about to start! The track CLU is just as cool, and so is The Game has Changed and End of Line, and End Titles as well! Flynn Lives makes the final confrontation scene bittersweet to watch. Kevin Flynn sacrificing himself for Sam makes me bawl my eyes out; the music barely even helps at all. But all emotions aside, this movie needs and deserves more attention!

Nothing in classical music sounds like movies' scores. But you should definitely check out the Fantastic Symphony by Berlioz (there's a story behind it it's cool to know it before listening). Also Prokofiev, Smetana, Korsakov, basically any Russian composer. They put a lot of soul and grandeur in their pieces. I also recommend Dvorak highly.

The Daft Punk score is fine, but in what way does it innovate in any way that comes close to the original Tron movie with Wendy Carlos' cutting-edge synthesis and music composed in a 24 tone scale??? When the original Tron came out, it was like nothing any one had ever seen or heard. The new Tron: Legacy builds upon the original for VFX. The score is done well and very pretty, but I don't hear the innovation. The musical styles here are well realized, but also well-worn material. I can pull similar songs out of records going back to the late 70s. If you weren't there when the original came out, you can't understand how alien and groundbreaking it was. There was nothing like it.
