You can’t always rely on schools . They miss a lot of things . Company towns were briefly mentioned when I was in high school . It wasn’t until after high school I started reading more on my own and found out how horrible these places really were.

Fun fact: A country/town in Pennsylvania is called Carnegie, and Andrew Carnegie was the mayor and ran the town off oil and coal mining, it eventually was no longer a company town and became,”normal” in the 1930’s, my father moved out from there in the 1970’s when he was about 12, a lot of my ancestors probably worked for Andrew Carnegie, or under his business, and one of the provinces in red dead redemption 2 is based off the south west parts of PA, and for those who did not catch on, Andrew Carnegie is Levitcus Cornwall. EDIT: it is located in the Allegheny county of Pennsylvania, so annesburg could be a recreation off the real life town in the 1870’s called Carnegie or the city of Pittsburgh, my father was probably born there because he probably had ancestors who were tricked into the coal mining scheme, i actually saw the house and i was told it was built in the 1910’s, so the house could have even been built off the scheme, it still stands to this day

Well hell let's keep this snow ball going. I'm in Cleveland, Ohio so guess good old Andrew headed this way. We have a bridge and a street running through downtown named after him as well. Always heard about him growing up (I'm 58) but never really knew who he was. I'll be doing some research. Thx professional.
@aidenrafferty78253 жыл бұрын
Yeah, those mines in Annesburg don’t actually look too bad. In reality you wouldn’t be able to stand upright and would mostly be crawling through tight tunnels.
@user-jt6rh8xy6n3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention the fear of the possibility of an immediate death.
@erikallen38043 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the only reason Rockstar made it bigger was so that players wouldn't have to crouch everywhere in the mine. It may be unrealistic, but people don't have the patience to crouch through a mineshaft just to explore it, even if they aren't supposed to be there. Like how the guards at the entrance get hostile if you go too close. However, if you enter the mine through the secret entrance, nobody gives a crap. Probably because the workers are too exhausted to deal with a trespasser.

Funny thing is I was a Pinkerton... This was back in the early 90's when they had yet to be bought out by Securatoss. I also worked at a gold mine near what was a company town almost 100 years early of Randsburg, Near by was Johannesburg and Red Mountan this is in California out in the middle of nowhere. I was a Gate Guard and while it was boring most the time it could be fun as well. Lots of tourists came by and I explained how we mined the gold and processed it.

The professional did you know that in the industrial revolution children in the UK had to push mining carts ( i think ) in very cramped and small tunnels to pay less for building the mine
@theprofessional1553 жыл бұрын
Yes this same thing happened in America . Kids worked in many countries around this time . Kids would also be involved in actual mining and because of how young they were their health suffered extremely .
@Longerbow3 жыл бұрын
I heard those stories to. Due to being forced to do work that was far to heavy for them, and not being able to stand upright in the cramped tunnels, those poor kids ended up with severe deformities and health problems... Also they where considered lucky if they made it to 40 years of age, that is if they didn't die from the accidents that happpend daily in those mines.

They should make a miner role and add some story missions with it revolving around the town of Annesburg
@erikallen38043 жыл бұрын
For once, Rockstar's greed could actually make a realistic Role. Since you essentially get paid nothing already, why not just add a mining Role where you'd be forced to live in Annesburg. There are so many possibilities with that, like starting a revolt because of the dirty working conditions and little to no pay. I'm sure they would only pay you like, $5 and no Gold Nuggets.
