I really love this. I shared your first one because I've had friends and family ask me about what it's like to go to a therapist. This was a great outline and made it less intimidating for them to go. I've had four friends start their own journey of healthier mental space ❤️ I think a great session could be discussing with the person about an anxiety attack and how to ground yourself.

Dr. Mattu, I found your channel while looking for a strategy to deal with my aversion to eating veggies. I wonder what you would recommend for something like this? Exposure? CBT? something else? The anxiety feels physiological. It's not rational at all. And its really effecting my health. My friend's are worried I'm developing an eating disorder because I will often opt to not eat if the only thing I can bring myself (bc of anxiety) to eat that day is unhealthy. Thanks!
@josephcoon5809
@josephcoon5809 4 жыл бұрын
Have you tried doing everything possible (including happy thoughts) that you have associated with happiness at the same time as eating something that causes you disgust? Either the endorphins from all the other stimulus will slowly associate happiness to the food you dislike, or you will associate disgust with everything you like. I guess it will come down to anther your disgust is stronger than your endorphin response. I would say manage the doses of each so as to start with a low dose of disgust with a high dose of endorphins. Eat with people that make you laugh and smile, in a place that is fun and exciting, thinking about how awesome you are, and hide a chunk of something distasteful in your meal.

Is it normal for anxiety to manifest into anger? A session like this would send me into immense frustration and irritation. I acknowledge I wish more people were this kind when I lacked doing my homework in former CBT sessions. I'm used to therapists eventually dropping contact entirely after a few times of not doing my homework. I've struggled to find one that I've been able to work with long term. But my anxiety greatly affects my job and ability to function, I rarely handle it well. I'm just not sure how to proceed with handling it much less identifying if what I'm feeling is actual anxiety or merely an anger issue..when I feel anxious, I tend to get super frustrated and eventually reach a boiling point.
