I've just realized that I don't understand how this sort of flapping motion generates lift at all. The wings are moving up and down in the air. Why does this move the body more up than down?

The front is rigid and the back the plastic membrane is loose. The flaping up and down isn't moving air up down, more like pushing air backwards like a fish tail moving side to side to propel it forward in the water, or a paper hand fan pushes air to your face when you move it side to side or up and down.

What if the frame was 3d printed? It could be lighter and maybe gain some elevation while the elastic is still doing work.

Using graphine battery (helps increase the altitude of flight bcos of the battery low weight) to power this and also adding remote control to it will just be insane like, imagine upto 1hr flight time. Just saying, I love your work.
