PPF is the best protection for headlights. That film will takes the hits from road sand, rocks, and such and the plastic stays CLEAR.

Awesome job and great video! I have a 2011 Nissan Armada and the tops of the headlights look rough,like very small ridges mixed with even smaller scratches. Would that be clear breaking down or heavy oxidation if you had to guess? I know without seeing them you can't say for sure. Thx.

I would use a sanding block and flat sandpaper, ur dealing with hills and valleys which will be the defect you want to take out just like when your sanding orange peel and having a foam as a backing and using ur hand conforms on the low spots along with the high spots. And i agree PPF is a must or 2K clear coat .

Wet sand and polish is the foundation of any headlight restoration. The next step could be any of the following. Not all will have the same longevity. I've done them all as a detailer. 1. Ceramic coating 2. Clear Cloat Paint 3. Headlight specific Coating 4. Protective Wax

What grit is the sanding disc? Can you post link to it?

If only clearing oxidation and not performing full sanding to take off the clear coat, should this cost less for the consumer vs a full restoration?

What is the compound you used?

Is there anything that can be done for oxidation inside the headlight? What speed do you work the polisher on for this?

Sorry for being picky, But you seemed to have fast forward to the final stage of the headlight restoration? The headlights didn't seem to have any oxidation what so ever?? The p3000 is far to fine for removing any lens degradation, The Trizact pad should only be used at the final stage of sanding!!!In the real world headlights restoration where there's heavy oxidation, Fogging,yellowing, ect, First a cordless drill with variable speed which in my opinion speeds up the process and is more efficient and consistent, A 3inch base plate with velcro hooks is a must and 3inch sanding disk, There's kits available on the market to buy!! Dry sanding works best as water acts like a lubricant and slows down the sanding!! First grit size p500 low speed and keep the drill head moving light pressure only full coverage,Check pad for ware or clogging change if needs be, Dust off power, Change pad to p800 and do the same as above!! Then after even coverage apply the 3inch Trizact pad spray lens with tap water slowly polishing overlapping by 50% until the hole lens becomes milky in colour there is no need to keep stopping and spraying the lens!! Then apply any glass cleaner spray after wipe and dry using a clean micro fibre cloth, Then you need to charge the sanding disk for a foam polishing pad apply a small amount of lens only polish to the foam evenly and dab the pad all over the lens select a highest speed setting on the drill and proceed and polish the lens which should take no more than 5min's max!! And lastly after wiping down the lens apply a quality clearcoat that was made for headlights only!! I hope this information helps any thinking of doing headlight restoration themselves!! There's only one way and this is the best way, 😉👍🇬🇧

You said applying ppf after useing clearcoat is OK ?Wrong🤔 reason because not only reduces light transmission to the road at night, Also the heat build up inside the headlight housing,ppf headlight rap is not permanent in time the rap will shrink and split, And in your demonstration you mentioned something regarding clearcoat!! Any headlight restoration all clearcoat as tobe removed!! The best method is dry sanding by far!! As wet sanding acts like a lubricant and slows down surface removal not only that it obscures visible damage!!
