Eh? He's making enough to rent a workshop in a city centre, to hire an assistant, for power tools, hand tools & supplies, and to feed his family and keep them in clean clothes in good condition. Is his life sad because he creates a living from repairing things instead of engaging in blind consumerism? Do you think he would say your life is sad because you pay enough rent for a moldy little bedsit that would let him live like a king? And he will have a freshly cooked lunch delivered from his wife at home to his work and go home to a freshly cooked dinner, and for a whole week that will cost the same as your Tesco lunch deal on plasticcy bread with a few sorry bits of week old chicken in it?

I totally get your point! But in some way, i'd rather be sitting there repairing tail lights than what i actually do. they may have low income but there's also a great chance they dont need a ton of money to live. this dude has his shop, works on his own , he didnt have to make 10 years of stupid studies on credit, and now he's his own boss. he probably doesnt have a mortgage or a huge rent to pay. he owns what he owns and does a honest and useful job. The result of the time he spent repairing this lens is worth way more to society than what most of us do on a typical week. He also has enough spare time to record, edit, and post this on the internet for us. It all sounds like a good life to me, The numbers on the paycheck dont mean much.

I have such respect for the high level of skill and craftsmanship shown here. It’s humbling to realise that their labour time must cost less than a new replacement in the form of a Chinese copy of the same tail light easily available from eBay. One thing that’s always mystified me from watching similar videos, is why they don’t spend and hour or two building a workbench? Surely this would be better than working on the floor?

Sorry to say, but scratching some grooves into the back of the plastic is *not* going to make it disperse light in the same way the original lens did. Yeah, it's that shape for a reason! And would it have been so hard to use an actual straight edge when making the grooves? Or to try and space them evenly? Or even keep them parallel?

He used what he had available. If government officials accept that he has solved a problem cheap. In our countries every part of a car needs to have a government approved stamp and a car looses it‘s certification to be operated on public roads if it has not. You also loose insurance. We are overregulated but in this case it even makes sense to set standards since it is a safety part.

Heck I rebuilt my taillight by hand last week. The most important part of the rebuild is to make sure you slightly overlap your tape covering the entire hole so you get a good seal. I find gorilla tape works best in this application.

But I'm sure they just fix or repair just about anything. I love these guys.... Two thumbs up! May God be always with them and bless them whatever they do in their life.
