I work as a security guard at an elementary school I was working one day in the cafeteria and every single 4th grade kid had a cellphone and there head buried in it, none of them spoke to each other. When I ask parents why they got cellphones for their kids so early they say well if they need the police they can call them. Every cell phone without the internet is capable of calling 911 just so you parents out there know.

Where the heck will these kids be where an adult cannot call 911 for them?!?! Or at least an adult within maybe a mile? I am part of the Generation X generation and back when I was a kid, there were no cell phones but the school had a phone, our parents had a home phone, any business had a phone, the library had a phone, etc. So, unless these kids are riding their bikes far out of town, why can't an adult call 911 for them?

Lots if reasons for this, but the top two are hands-off parenting and parents who want to be "friends" with their kids early on. Sadly, their relationships will often be weaker in the future, not stronger.

I feel for the co-host here on this show...having a couple of little ones. It's easy to say, "I won't let my child have a cell phone until they are 15 yrs. old (to pick a number) but in real life that's not what usually happens. Most parents now days are so politically corrected, that they have to let their child have a cell phone because what if the unthinkable happens (whatever that is!!) and my son or daughter can't call for help...well right there, you going to let your child have a cell phone. I am so glad my parenting days are over. I feel for anyone who is a parent these days.

Unfortunately the times we are living in now are no where near comparable to the times when people grew up without cell phones. The chance of something bad happening and needing to call family or emergency is much more important than the other risks with having a cell phone. I mean come on…parents blame the cell phones but they know wifi parameters exist right?🤣🤣 or something called “parental restrictions” don’t blame a phone cell phone for you being a bad parents and not monitoring your children.

I can't help but imagine the gaming industry is heavily responsible for this. As a gamer in my spare time, they're releasing these big games free to download, and introducing clear gambling mechanics in them. There are other countries that have banned these mechanics, and we should follow suit. It's targeting CHILDREN. Almost anything made by Electronic Arts is a digital casino targeting your children to get them to spend all their or your money on things that don't exist, and it's working. At the very least, any game with these mechanics should carry an, "Adults Only," rating.

Mr. Ramsey, getting on your program is also an addiction. It’s an addiction of money and being frugal which is NOT a bad addiction to have so everyone is an addict in their own way. We should be highly skeptical of these numbers. Even if we only include states where gambling is legal at age 18, less than a quarter of high school students, maybe only about an eighth, are of gambling age. It 4-6% of high school students are problem gamblers, that would mean about one quarter ti one third of all gambling age kids are problem gamblers. There is simply no way that is true.

All you have to do is type in a birthdate saying you're over the legal age. For example, keg parties and illegal substances are easy to host/obtain in high school yet they are not legal. The kids figure it out.

@@tigar0485 every US gaming site requires a valid photo ID to create an account for proof of age and KYC laws. Most offshore sports betting sites require an ID as well. I think when the survey said 80% it's more of a long the lines of me betting $20 against my friend that team x will beat team y.

@@NadeemMansouri that is very possible. You could be on to something there. I'm guessing there are a large percentage of parents that are helping the kids to "keep them out of trouble"...like when they provide the alcohol and smokes as long as the kid and friends are staying at their home so the parents can "supervise".

Hey Dave, speaking of additions , let’s talk about the elephant in the room, what about your addition to carbs and sugar? This is the main addition in USA by far and explains heart issues, strokes, diabetes, high cholesterol and so many other health issues. Be careful pointing fingers about additions, yours is pretty obvious and will not end well.

Even Dave has said several times we should never let a kid make a mistake "with too many zeros attached to it." In other words, if the stakes are too high, step in and put a stop to it. A teen should never be totally left to learn things naturally, especially something that could have lifelong negative effects.
