People feel like they have to be extra certain with marriage as it binds you to that person forever. But in reality it's children that bind you a person forever as you will still have to remain in contact even if you separate.

@NurturingTalents exactly. You should of course marry the right person, but you can get divorced at any time. So feeling like you have to be more cautious about who you marry and not who you have kids with is silly. I honestly don't understand people who think like that, and unfortunately many people do.

You call the show and your gonna get a straight answer about finances whether it something you want to hear or not. People need this. You need someone, anyone to just tell you the truth and not sugar coat everything. Hearing that on his Money Makeover book is exactly what I needed. If you didn’t get the Audible version you really should because he shoots it straight and you hear the passion in his voice and it’s an eye opening experience. It’s what I call BWOKE! Matthew Surratt It’s cheating when you tell your school you only make 25k a year to get financial aid but allow your baby daddy to pay off your student loans. If he can afford to pay off loans, you are both living off his and your own salary. Can guarantee she is on welfare and food stamps as well pretending as if she is a single mother living on 25 when in fact she is NOT. She lost all credibility. She is milking the system while Simultaneously milking her baby daddy.

@ChristieRain
@ChristieRain 3 жыл бұрын
@MatthewSurratt When considering her integrity, it’s not about what her taxes show, it’s about her understanding of her own situation and the purpose of FAFSA. Taking away someone’s opportunity to attend college, who truly cannot afford it, while you are living with your boyfriend, who makes a considerable about money and is obviously kind enough to take on her portion of the bills, is being tricky and dishonest! I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve to go to college, but there are thousands of scholarship programs out there that she may qualify for without having to lie about her income. She is knowingly taking college money away from the poor to make her own life more comfortable and that speaks a lot about her character.

He'll pay for her college, pay the rent, and pay her car note, then once she's finished with school put that kid in that car and drive to whatever city her new job is located. Ryan, you're not even a constant in her plan. If she's willing to abuse your relationship status to take advantage of the financial aid system, just imagine how she'll abuse your unconditional kindness and love. If wants to have a baby but doesn't want to marry you, that is a HUGE sign you need to protect yourself.

I said something similar to this. Dave is old fashioned and as soon as he hears baby and living together he screams get married. Sometimes there are deeper issues with why they aren’t married. I wish he’d encourage couples therapy before screaming go down to the court house. Sometimes people emotionally are stuck and play house because they don’t know what they want or how to get OUT, and are merely there for convenience. When someone brings up marriage they coward away or make excuses, “financial reasons” bcus it makes them uncomfortable bcus they know deep down they don’t want to marry this person. My friend got a random chick knocked up out of high school and his parents forced him to marry her and has been miserable ever since.

It’s about money yes. It is also about trust and knowing you have a partner for life. If marriage is off the table, at least be honest and say you love each other for now and split all expenses with a budget and explain to your children that you still love them no matter what. Without marriage it is so easy to walk away and you should definitely prepare your finances and children for that possibility. I would imagine it is hard to play house if the finances are not mixed. IMO Marriage is a wonderful thing (after the first few years, but it takes a LOT of work and compromise. As you age, it is also a great feeling that he/she has your back in every situation. It doesn’t seem like much when you are single, but ask older married couples. Everyone I know who was married more than 10 years or more bicker and argue, but their love is evident and unwavering. No one I asked ever said it is easy. Good luck

I know that not all jobs have a stable monthly income, but you cannot treat your job which fluctuates with good months and whatnot as if it's a stable monthly income. As an insurance salesman, always be conservative about what you could make in a month; if your worst month is $1000, you have a $12000 annual income. Count the extra money as a blessing or a shortcut to get a more stable income.
