Major apologies for the re-upload, the original video had a mistake where I left a clip of me cussing because I got so frustrated from the level (not something I do on the normal, this level just brought out the salt in me). It was a huge mistake on my part and I honestly feel sick to my stomach for not catching it when I was editing. Not only did I let the viewers who saw it down, but I let myself down as well. Some of you might be saying, "so what, everyone makes mistakes." and you are 100% right. But I also am allowed to feel awful about my mistake. As a Christian, husband, father and, what I consider, a friend to you all, I have certain standards for myself. And through those standards you all have come to expect me to hold up to those standards...which you should. You trust me to be content the whole family can watch and I dropped the ball. To Dave's point on troll levels, and really any good level design: good levels never have to hide information or resources from the player to make it challenging. As an example, most Pick-a-pipes are terribly cheap because they ask the player to do something with information they could never possibly have. Trolls are (mostly) meant to circumvent your expectations, a guessing game just makes you feel like your choices are wrong to being with, which just isn't a fun player experience. Good trolls provide all the circumstances to make you think you're right, but then go show you you're wrong in surprising ways.

i think this kind of relationship between level designer and player creates a special kind of phenomenon that only Super Mario Maker is letting people see right now. the idea of frustration and satisfaction in overcoming a challenge, along with the herculean difficulty some levels contribute and some players submit themselves to... idk. it just feels very beautiful. for our two cents, we would have enjoyed seeing the raw frustration in the video; some of the reactions left in seem kind of put-on, and seeing raw human emotion is something only streaming and youtube are really letting ppl do right now. maybe it's kind of parasitic, but i guess that's what we are. thanks for the video.
